  1. heh nope - but that is to be expected isn't it :P
  2. I can recommend a great place for you dippy, a place for you and your fellow vegetarians, don't be swayed by the name, it's called.... Sealand ;) ;)
  3. And yet I asked maybe 3 times why the council is alledgedly spending £160,000 on a public tax survey when reopening the local toilets only cost £70,000. And didn't get a single comment from any councillor. In this instance, I targetted you for 2 reasons; when you name someone specifically, they don't fall prone to the bystander effect and B: You seem to actually make a move and look into things Thank you
  4. Do you mean this? http://goo.gl/maps/bSY0L The 3 lanes by the subway carry straight on. The right lane offers an extra lane to come back around (marked ross road) and has shorted white lines. Or are you talking about some new markings they have recently put down?
  5. I'm confused as to were you mean Colin. Coming out of Whitecross, there are 2 lanes that then turn into 4 lanes that approach the roundabout. I've never looked at the writing, but, lets call them L, LM, RM and R.... L is Edgar Street, LM is Edgar Street and City (towards aylestone), RM is City (towards firestation) and A49 South, tesco undergound and Ross Road and R is A49S/Belmont/Whitecross. Edit: Perhaps you mean next to the subway. Again there are 2 lanes coming from Whitecross Road and yes, 3 on the A49 from the South.
  6. One of many collision stories I've heard from people abusing that roundabout. GLENDA I'm specifically targetting you now, because whenever I ask a question that you councillors aren't keen on, I get no replies what so ever. So, Glenda, can you please look into the possibility of having a patrol car sit on that roundabout - in the middle of it for all I care - at least at peak times, so that people are scared into paying more attention to their driving?
  7. Indeed, we now have the better lane guidance, it's just a shame that no one pays attention to the new markings. Changing lanes with clear indication and space is one thing, cutting people up is something completely different. So again, I'd like to suggest that a patrol car sits down there to encourage people to think about what they are doing.
  8. While I agree with most of what you said - this... the trouble is, the majority aren't always right. Like most consumers, people think they know what they want, but they actually don't. Not that I'm defending the council by any stretch of the imagination! God no.
  9. 10.30am, Wednesday took; 5 minutes to get from Ross Road to the train station (Edgar Street North, Blackfriars, Conningsby, Commercial road) - no lights 25 minutes to get back (commercial road, blueschool street South/West, A49) - lights Total distance 1.6 miles The traffic queue started at what used to be Subway. Just to reiterate that.. it took 25 minutes to travel 1.6 miles in Hereford on the route with traffic lights
  10. Are they against the OLM or are they against building over budgeted projects without first sorting out the foundations and infrastructure? I'm not against the OLM, but I am against the way they have done it with no regards to putting a suitable infrastructure in first and the complete disregard for the rest of the city and its highly valuable merits (just look at Left Bank now) I absolutely agree with this....
  11. Absolutely this ^^ Also ref Megilellands post, I'm only too familiar with this scenario and, no doubt, Colin will fall victim to it as well - come up with a fantastic idea that benefits everyone and get verbally abused and bashed for it. Roll on a year or two and suddenly upper management have "come up" with a great (same) idea that they push forward with taking all the credit for whilst completely failing to acknowledge your efforts.
  12. It's quite funny Colin, people of the council are bashing your idea because "the lights are off and it's utter chaos". They seem to think that turning half of the lights off equates to turning them all off and so builds their defense for "you can see it doesn't work"
  13. That's why I think they need to sit a patrol car on there, so at least it gives people an incentive to think about what they are doing as well as eyes on for the inivitable accidents
  14. Cut into the left side where that tight mini junction is I imagine. Still, it will be interesting to hear what happens - personally I don't go that side of town unless I absolutely have to
  15. You might prefer this one, there's a bit more that's not included in the one above. And there's parts 2 and 3 if you fancied watching them too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbvCxMfcKv4
  16. I think this one is a little misleading. Richer people have a bigger pot which means their % outgoing per subject, food, petrol... interest payments, is going to be smaller. They also have a bigger stash of cash to purchase things with which means they take out fewer and smaller loans and thus have less interest to pay. If you haven't, you should watch the Banking section of the Zeitgiest film, interesting viewing. For your pleasure; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiCv6KTJs50 If you can't be assed to watch, in a nutshell; Banks own/create money - lend to government at % interest - government can't pay interest because that money doesn't exist - banks create more money - inflation/debt cycle results.
  17. Dippy, you'll be pleased to know that this site also has a "thumbs up" voting system for comments ;)
  18. You too Dippy... .. and notice how none of them have responded.... nothing changes.
  19. Latest news... http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/fury-at-border-agency-over-case-of-the-australian-nhs-therapist-given-just-a-few-days-to-leave-britain-8935743.html An Australian woman, with 2 masters degrees and a full time job as a specialist in the NHS, has been given 28 day to get out of the country after spending nine years in Britain working with vulnerable children for the NHS ...... has become an online pin-up for the shambolic state of the UK Border Agency (UKBA) after sharing her experiences online. In other news... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/immigration/10271855/Number-of-foreign-nationals-on-benefits-soars-to-400000.html Number of foreign nationals on benefits soars to 400,000 The number of foreign nationals claiming benefits such as Jobseeker’s Allowance has jumped by 40 per cent in just four years
  20. Just doing an interesting test.... paki (pa ki) ****** (*** ger) ****** (*** ga) chinky (chin ky) Brit (Brit) Limey (lime y) Yank (Yan k) Honky (honk y) Eskimo (Eski mo) Dago (Da go) Kraut (Krau t) EDIT: Pretty much what I thought, although surprised paki made it through.
  21. Oh here it is, I was just talking about this. I want to know who was who. Was the victim attacked for being foreign/black/muslim or were they attacked for being British? Because it makes a difference. This certainly could be the case given that it's a busy carpark and was "unprovoked". It's very easy for the media to spin a confrontation into something as racist when words are thrown. Calling someone a "rag head" during a confrontation is the same as calling someone a bald C@@* or a 4 eyed ****. You use their appearance as ammunition.
  22. The HT omit whatever either doesn't fit into their agenda or isn't compensated in some way. I see there is a story about a women being pushed over and racially abused in Merton Meadow - what it doesn't state is who was who. Was the victim racially abused because they were foreign, or was the attacker foreign racially attacking and abusing a British women? Given the lack of information, I'd guess the later.
  23. It's really quite simple. Immigrate here - have a job waiting (students aside) Only allow people in who are capable of filling positions that we have open - my family was going to immigrate to Canada, but they wouldn't let us in because, despite my father being highly skilled, they already had enough architects. No job, no entry. Work on a points system the same as everyone else (ie Canada). There should be a numbers cap on asylum seekers, when we hit the cap - when we've helped as many as we can - stop letting more in. There's only so much help you can give before it starts to damage our country. An uncapped asylum process is akin to an uncapped foreign aid budget Log people in. Log people out. and stop letting people do runners because you can't find their passport.
