  1. My house is in a wind corner where every one elses rubbish gets blown into and stuck :( I have a black bin for my household waste, because of the smell. It's sealed and effectively does what the council ones mentioned would do. But like I say, it takes one fly to get in and thats the end of it. The flies even lay their maggot eggs along the rim of the bin and they crawl in before they get too big :(
  2. Ah that's good to hear. I think the biggest issue with fortnightly is that we all use the green bins now, so the black backs are largely old food and meat which doesn't last long before it starts rotting! I must confess, I was in bed at the time, it sounded like a road sweeper but might have been something else :P But that's good to know as well. I must say, this BV is great, you ask a question and some one in the know answers. Fantastic!
  3. A couple of thoughts... Firstly wasn't there talk recently about changing the bin collection to fortnightly? Well I put out my bins this week, one from a week and one from 4 days, and they were dripping with maggots. The bins are sealed, so it must have been one rogue fly as I'm very careful about that because I can't stand the smell, maggots or flies. Needless to say the smell was repulsive. And this is on weekly collections, surely it's not a good idea to change to fortnightly? We're going to end up with streets piled with rotting flesh and maggots like the Victorian times..... what is it with the city and going backwards? The second observation was that the bins are generally collected after 10am, yet at around 9am, what sounded like, a road sweeper goes around the streets. Surely it would be better to send the sweeper around AFTER the bins have been collected as they often have burst contents or windswept rubbish that has been left behind.

    Difference

Bobby you still seem to be confusing what is normal with what is acceptable. Just because something isn't the norm, doesn't conform to a common standard or isn't apparent in the majority of cases... ie "not normal". Doesn't mean that it is intolerable and that those people should be treated any differently. If you want to continue to try and redefine the English language, by all means crack on, but I think we've reached an impasse :)
  5. Indeed. My only concern with your petition is that if it doesn't get enough votes it sends the wrong message. I believe the lime trees petition had 2300 signatures and they're still ripping those down.

    Difference

Oxford English Dictionary normal Pronunciation: /ˈnÉ”Ëm(É™)l/ adjective 1 conforming to a standard; usual, typical, or expected: (of a person) free from physical or mental disorders: until her accident Louise had been a perfectly normal little girl many previously normal people exhibit psychotic symptoms after a few nights without sleep It's as simple as that, it really is.
  7. I'm not against the OLM, but I think the way they have done it is completely wrong, no underlying infrastructure and they have completely scrapped the rest of town

    Difference

You certainly could do if you wanted to Bobby Bonanza :) Although I'm of the opinion that everyone is treated the same - until they open their mouth, that's when I make my judgements. By taking all of the non heterosexual people into a group, it's just causing segregation and treating them differently ;) It often makes me laugh when people in an argument have to point out that "I'm black and I...", "I'm Irish and I...", "I'm *** and I..", "I'm a gypsy and I...".... Well I don't care what you are, I'm not going to treat you differently until you give me a reason to :) Far too many people scream about equality one minute while pointing out that people are black, asian, disabled or poor in the next breathe - if they don't want people to treat other people differently, stop pointing out their niche! If someone in a wheelchair spills their drink all over their face, I'll happily have a laugh with them, not because they are in a wheelchair, but because I'd do the same to someone who wasn't in a chair. My point before was that, by the very definition of normal, homosexuality is not. Also from a biological and evolutionary point of view - but again, that doesn't mean that they should be treated with disdain :)
  9. That's right Colin, but they can be hugely different. You could have a claim for £200 yet a bill to pay for £20,000 VAT along with corporation tax is the government stealing money for absolutely no reason but to line their own pockets. Unlike things like council tax or emissions tax, we get nothing in return for what we pay in business taxes. If we did, small businesses would be liable to VAT as well. All it does is stifle economic growth. I run a business. Because of my service and (suited) pricing model, if I turnover £78,500 I might make 60k. If I turn over £79,000, I would make £34k. That £500 of work would put my profits down by nearly half. It's ludicrous!
  10. The thing is, however, if you provide a service, you will never claim back the same level of VAT that you are forced to pay. Let's say you charge £1,000 for .. I don't know, gardening say. You claim back VAT on your gloves and tools, per job let's say that equates to £20. You have to pay £200 in VAT making you down £180 with nothing to show for it. I was actually thinking more from the consumers point of view. When I pay VAT on something in a shop, what am I getting in return? Especially when I could go next door and not pay VAT. Don't even get me started on corporation theft... I mean tax. Swiping 20% from small businesses and giving NOTHING in return. That, as far as I'm concerned, is theft.
  11. This seems like a good place to ask as I believe there are a number of councillors present. This is something that has always baffled and upset me - why do we pay VAT? Well no, I know why we pay VAT, because the government want more or our well earnt money. Really my question is, what do we get in return for the VAT that we pay? Where is the "Value"? What "value are we getting? While I'm sure it all goes towards the big pot of public spenditure, that's not really the issue. Let's say a small business that is not VAT registered sells.... little plastic Colins and Bobby47's for £10 each. And then company number 2 who are VAT registered sell the same figures, at either £10 or £12. Now what extra value are we getting by paying either the same or extra for the same product?
  12. I actually had planned something like that myself - a city wide, free for all forum, I have a couple of domains lined up. However, after seeing how much effort Colin puts into this site I might just have to curtail that a bit. Maybe turn it into a parody site :P
  13. I completely agree :) I believe it's just more of the council doing "something" to make it look like they are doing something. Which must account for 90% of their actual workload.
  14. 1.30am? You'll be pushed to find anywhere after midnight - hell, the other weekend I couldn't even get a Subway at 11pm on a Saturday night! People don't want "hot" food, they just want food, so if there are no burgers or kebabs about, it's a trip to the petrol station of sandwich place as you say. As a related aside - didn't government pass a law that allowed 24/hr pubs? I see Horrorford stayed well clear of that one. Again they cited violence, but studies and evidence shows that violence is significantly reduced as you don't have a mass kick out with 24/hr licencing
  15. Thanks for the info, I did wonder about that. Personally, I just avoid it now.
  16. And they are partly responsible, just as society as a whole and the goverment and the border agency. I've seen first hand the effects of the change in migration on the economy. Previously we had many immigrant workers in the summers. They came over and worked the farms, they earn't money which they spent in the local shops. As things progressed and they began to stay, business and sales dropped in the shops. The immigrant workers started to send the money back to their families in their originating countries. As the shops spring up they are importing the foreign food, their client base is UK based immigrant workers who now also spend the money they make in the UK in these shops, which then use that money to source and import more food from abroad. The money is being generated in the UK but leaving the UK economy like a hole in the pocket. They don't buy the cars from British dealers or car salesman, they have those imported as well. So, as you can see, this is a particular part of the problem that does lay at the hands of those who migrate to the UK. Should we ban all foreign shops? No of course not. Should we ban immigrants? Again, no, that's just silly. Are immigrants to blame for everything? No. Are immigrants PARTLY responsible for what's happening? Absolutely. Every day I get increasingly fed up with this insane attitude that minority groups are immune to everything. Some people from minority groups do steal, protection racket, fraud (ATM fraud has gone through the roof since the EU countries joined the EU), some do attack people, punch people, get drunk, drive illegally etc etc... JUST LIKE BRITISH PEOPLE. Again, my point is equal respect demands equal accountability. Minority groups should not be made immune, whether by law or by fear of social rejection.
  17. I don't expect people to always agree with my opinions, all I ask is that people engage their brains and not deny basic logic and facts :)
  18. Thank you :) Indeed, I have sent in very prominent business pieces - some that have later been published by national papers. Yet the HT dismissed them in place of articles such as "Sue grows a giant cucumber", or something there abouts.
  19. I'll reiterate what I said. In a society that demands equal opportunity, it's people must equally be held accountable. I'm still searching for an explanation as to how some of the immigrants from these so called impoverished, poor and desolate countries manage to come to one of the most expensive countries in the world, set up shops and drive audi's and beamers. As a business owner, I have a genuine interest in how this occurs.
  20. Bobby how do you not see the failure in your logic? "Normal - The usual, average, or typical state or condition." If being homosexual was normal, people wouldn't be able to naturally reproduce and thus the human race as a species would be extinct! Just to be clear, I have in no way patronised those who are so inclined, I have actually stated that it's acceptable and not an issue. It was an example of how people immediately dive in with emotions flared screaming xenophobia and censorship instead of applying logic to the argument. It's common place to find murderers in human societies... that doesn't make it normal :P
  21. Oh wow, g-a-y is a banned word? Dear god. Bobby, you exhibited exactly what I was addressing ;) You're basically saying that the topic of sexuality should only be discussed behind closed doors! :)
  22. Hello! I thought I'd just splash out a quick post for those who don't know me. I was banned from the Hereford Times website and threatened with legal action for pointing out that their staff write about their friends and family at the demise of actual news pieces. In particular one "Jess Phillips" who I strongly believe is the daughter of Editor Fiona Phillips. Consequently, I've ended up here. I don't know how active I'll be but I thought I'd make an entrance :) I'll warn you now that I'm outspoken, opinionated, passionate and blunt. I very often see red and type a poostorm that may well be better worded the next day :) I'll frequently bash people if they refuse to use their brain - particularly when people play the racism card instead of looking at facts and logic. There are some things that you just cannot argue against... for example, homosexuality is NOT normal. That's not to say it's wrong, that it's not acceptable or that *** people should burn in hell, of course not! It's simply saying that when you look at the human form, biological and evolutionary science... it is not normal. The majority people are not ***, if being *** was normal, humans would be extinct......... I can already feel the eyes beaming down ready to tear me a new one ;) But stop and think about it for a second :) So, if you'll have me, I'll stick around :)
  23. Thanks :) I don't know if an exodus is the answer Bobby... my brain is out on that one at the moment. On the one hand, it reduces their exposure and reader count. On the other hand, it gags those of us who don't want to put up with their crap. I've also come to the conclusion that a good number of the thumbs down are at the hands of HT themselves as a means to discredit peoples comments without deleting them and causing poster outrage. Like a lame mans attempt at manipulating social acceptance. As we all know, it's a lot easier to get people to follow a crowd than it is to stand up, stand out and cause a problem ;)
  24. To be honest Bobby, I think 99% of people don't have a problem with migrants - they have a problem with the systematic abuse with the migrants at the end of it. I've said it before and I'll say it again, there ARE too many EU food shops in town, 8 in Eign Gate alone. If that were chip shops or betting shops, there would be an uproar. But the mere mention of EU and you're immediately branded a racist. And that's the biggest problem, is that people are too stupid to understand the difference between facts and problems and actual racism. Take a look at that EDL facebook page (while I'm not a fan), you'll actually be hard pressed to find something bad, it's all welcoming of cultures, non violent and democratic. They condemn violence, they were the first to out the pub story I mentioned as being fake. They have members of all colours, religions and faiths. And, most entertaining of all, is that there are people who demonise those who say "all muslims are violent" whilst in the same breath declare that the EDL are violent, agressive, racist nazis. I once overhead two 8-11? year old children in the changing rooms at the swimming pool talking to each other about how the schools headmasters child was refused a place at the school in favour of Eastern European children. Immigration IS a problem and immigrants ARE to blame, as well as the government and society. I find it tiring to hear how immigrants are immune to any kind of negativity. If people want migrants to be equals and live in an equal, balanced British society, then they have to take their portion of the blame as well. :)
