  1. Well I think if most people are honest with themselves they don't want to see any house building full stop whether that's in their village, town or city but this is not an option. I'm actually in favour of creating smaller new development villages rather than assimilating an old village into a new town. If the right infrastructure is put in place people would move in based on the grand visions of a few archetypes and the Herefordian public could have a true say on how it should look.
  2. You make a point Dippy because it does come down to people and attitudes. I'm not seeing the same picture in my neighbourhood and reports from the council suggest recycling is up. If the problem lies around areas where there are flats then please just give them more bins because at least rubbish is disposed of even if recycling suffers. It must cost more for someone to come back and put right and I guess if you are struggling to make ends meet on a daily basis then the last thing on your mind is to read a bloody notice on a bag telling why it ain't gonna get collected this week or at least until the dogs and cats have assisted in its breaking down process.
  3. Ok so I'm going to pitch this because I'm keen to hear the views of Hereford Voice. I've given it some thought over the weekend and I just wonder whether it might be a better idea to create a new town not necessarily at Ewyas Harold rather than submit demands on existing villages or blow out the boundaries of Hereford. What's your view?
  4. Well it was backed over the bridge and then some this afternoon ! I hope they get this done before the new term starts.
  5. Oh and by the way I give my old wagg a proper night out not just a £1 tasty treat
  6. Yes I thought that Dippy. I was also intrigued about t h e suggested retirement village. Those people I know that live in the Rose Garden Centre do like it there.
  7. You know what Roger I'm really pleased that the new football season is just round the corner so you can fill a bit more of your retirement on the train going to see your mighty team because weighing all your groceries at home must be mind blowing!
  8. Ok help..I avoid Facebook and Twitter so is that where the petition is?
  9. Heh old codger..you should be in bed with ya cocoa. I'm a bit selfish on this because I'm hoping to see a bit more night sky when my LED,s show up. It's the one thing I have missed since coming south from our old village. I know there are many that think that these light replacements are not as bright and thus less safe for late night walkers but I like them but not the shiny poles they are being fitted to!
  10. Well interestingly enough those stalls you mentioned included a good few charity groups and support organisations like West Midlands Ambulance Service community first responders and Hereford Health Watch. They have to attract support somewhere so why not High Town even though many people like yourself have no interest. Crikey if you think High Town doesn't have the room then most towns and cities are doomed. I've never known a UK precinct area so big. On line shopping has done for many a High Street so by shopping online we are all sentencing our town centres who have to change their presentation as to adapt to our new 21st Century shopping trends. As for new business retail start-ups well if you want it to work you go where the footfall is and that's OLM until the council provides incentives to encourage old town occupancy. So I agree with drawlings and will continue to visit Old Town and OLM.
  11. Hi Duffy and good to see you posting! As you can probably note from the pages on this topic similar concerns are expressed here.
  12. To put closure on this topic my other half wrote to Jesse who to be fair did send a letter to the DVLA which I've attached. Obviously this comes with the knowledge that our government is changing the tax code bands from 2017 because many of us have taken on vehicles which currently fall into a zero payment tax band and their income is dropping...so much for saving the planet. Please have a read and I would be keen to hear how you interpret the reply. If we decided not to renew the tax would we get pulled over..after all how can I pay a tax when there is nothing to pay??
  13. Well it's great to have you on the site Redbird and you are right...the sun has come out!
  14. Glad you think so Redbird after all what a fantastic way of silencing the doubting Thomas's but see Freedom Church invest in a cause which will have no financial gain other than to receive the eternal gratitude of these young people and their carers. Signing a petition is one thing but providing financial assistance is quite another and as the balence sheet shows you guys have a few quid in the bank plus of course it is known that a number of your members hold senior positions within health and social care. It would be great to see if you could influence those further up the family group so to speak and look forward to seeing a significant donation to this great cause. Of course I am also a sceptic.
  15. You know Roger this site is an eyesore but to be fare to the good people of Herefordshire the mural lovingly created weeks ago has thus far not been defaced. We have our problems like all other cities but it's great to see its survived so far.
  16. Used to live in Stoke Prior..the road noise was incredible.
  17. Well that would be the administrator's then...so come on council let's get going. I want to see a new green space that includes room for a sandpit and bouncy castle....KIDDING Roger ( see what I did there).
  18. Gotta say Roger that the great thing about Leominster,s new Police Station is that the Inspector has a cracking view from the top floor. It looks out onto the A49 from the Leominster roundabout all the way down towards the Marlbrook end. Great speedway particularly for bikes at weekends..Perhaps if he/she a speed gun out the window they could offset the costs...because the numbers are there.
  19. Just a thought Redbird but the Hereford Voice and Hereford Times have highlighted the issues relating to No. 1 Ledbury Road or Blackmarston School. Money and resources would be handy here.
  20. They certainly don't have the money Jean and as stated before it's my belief that the one thing that will shelve this project for now is time and the clock is ticking.
  21. So it's now 85 representations with a few more bigger organisations participating...surely this will slow down the process.
  22. A compulsory purchase order is a great idea and the idea of a city garden faantastic but in order to raise a CPO you need to direct it to someone and that's the complicated bit.
  23. I know it's not relevant however "Bubbles" would be a great name for a 1930's revival nightclub!
  24. I would also like to add that "troubleshooters" come in all shapes and sizes, all very different, some work independently some work as gangs or groups or organizations after all consultants are often called this. We need them good and bad after all its your choice to listen or follow and support!
