  1. Struggled to read the article in the Independent because of the adverts so the key element for me is when it happened. I know the guys who now own the hotel. Xmed are generally X regiment who offer a specialist medical support service. Will find out more.
  2. Seriously though this whole sorry mess was foreseen but it's happening faster than most countries predicted and the Italians are starting to lose patience with their European neighbours.
  3. Three men in a boat mate...in Brighton no one would give them a second look ..drop down in Eastbourne of Folkstone they'd be arrested straight away firstly because of their age and secondly..no mobility scooter!
  4. Yes Roger at the moment it would be a vote to stay in however the longer they leave it the more likely a vote for removal. Once we get the first crossings across the channel and it will happen unfortunately however dangerous then the problem has truly arrived on our doorstep.
  5. The timing for a referendum on an exit from the E.U? At the moment the suggestion is it will be 2017 however I'm not so sure. If things continue in Greece & Italy with the refugees falling on the shores then I feel it will be a lot sooner. If it's left to late then the answer will be a vote NO because the UK won't want an association with the problems for the price will be to heavy. It won't be about business it won't be about money it will be about having the ability to decide how best to deal with immigration without be obliged by EU legislation. So with this in mind the pro Europeans may play their hand early because it maybe the only way a yes vote will win through.
  6. Agreed Denise and this lot pitching up right in the middle of the potential new university campus.
  7. I'm over it now Adrian resigned to the fact that just sometimes life is illogical. Mrs Knight has forgotten about it however she,s not happy with me....I forgot to move my helmet this morning and her hobbit feet got wet. I'm away for few days now perhaps I shall sleep in Holly Gutter Lane before they build another 200 houses. If the Mordiford crew think things are bad now I make that possibly 600 new houses(Aylestone Hill,Hampton Dene Road and now the Bloor Homes submission) within a couple of years and no relief road over here or bridge!
  8. I actually think we should have a little corner on the site to store such gems....what do you think Colin?
  9. The council is getting its ducks in a row, and blow everything else.
  10. I tell you what if your looking for good value for money try the Cock of Tupsley. We have never had a bad meal yet and its always busy which I feel means something.
  11. I wish we could move on because it's built now and there is currently a growing choice in Hereford of where you can eat so why comment on something which is of no interest to you personally.
  12. It's a mad world Roger. I have always thought that to make payment meant that you parted with something. If you don't part with anything then you have not paid....I dunno I think I'm going to pee in my helmet under the bed and sleep it off!
  13. It seems like a waste of our money to produce a meaningless bit of paper when the DVLA knows if the car is liable and within the first three years there's no MOT. The DVLA also knows if a vehicle is insured hence the reason why ANPR is used more these days. If you no longer stick a bit of paper in the window there's no point in sending out this rubbish. It's taxing but not a tax unless you feel we can afford to send out reams of paper with no ultimate objective other than to confirm what you already know and trudge down the post office only to join a queue for no other reason than to hand over a document which achieves nothing, no payment changes hands other than to confirm that you have virtually taxed your car and wasted a lot of people's time. There is however hope because I believe it's being addressed at least for new cars up to three years where no MOT is required.
  14. How can it be a tax if the value is nil ?
  15. Its a nonsense Roger particularly within the first three years where no MOT is required and if you get online there is no requirement to demonstrate insurance on the vehicle which the DVLA is aware of anyway.
  16. Researching this a bit more it seems that two thirds of all cars purchased now fall below the magic 100 number which means no tax. Apart from the wasted paper if the DVLA is sending out reminders to say a million cars that fall within this category that's almost a saving of half a million quid on postage alone.
  17. I have heard from the Woodland Trust who are preparing a response to the planning application. This has come from their campaign team!

    DVLA

With all the nonsense in the world this one is a cracker! Mrs Knight is bending my ear for she's had a tax renewal notification letter in the post! Why she says why as my bacon sarny gets thrown across the room with me dropping down for a catch silly mid on before the next door neighbour's dog runs off with the spoils. You see she does not pay road tax on the car..it's zip, Nada, nothing, so why does she need to complete a form for a tax disc she doesn't get and a disc that's disappeared for a zero value to show on the DVLA?? We always thought it was funny to show a tax disc with a zero value and thought once this became obsolete she would no longer get the form. I wish I'd known it was coming I would have had a few days away.
  19. Personally Roger I though you might be a Mountfield kind of guy! A few years ago a mate of mine had a similar experience but it turned out that during that two week turnaround the bloke in question was servicing his mower then using it to cut lawns without ever buying one himself! He found out because one day he went to pick his kids up at the X wife's place and there he was doing her lawn which incidentally he was paying for as part of a settlement! Cracking idea don't you think!
  20. Slightly off topic but has anyone noticed the number of teaching related posts currently being advertised on the Herefordshire Council website! Either people are leaving education in droves or there really is a population boom filtering through the education system.
  21. Yes this is good because it slows things down. Personally I would have liked to have seen something from the Woodland Trust Denise.
  22. It's been said before however their choice of corporate colours are reminiscent of the Nazi blackshirts of the 1930's!
  23. Well I'm still very much a relative new person on this site with my first birthday in September but I have enjoyed the contributions by many including Paul from the Wirral and perhaps we will never know why he blew a fuse but he did. So with this in mind what larks to see old AV pitching in with the opener for this topic...missing his friends from the other side of the political spectrum and perhaps still revelling in the in fighting between IOC & the Indies which resulted in a stronger Conservative Council he feels perhaps I can pick this sore once more and see how it bleeds! In the army you plant the bomb and leave the room or just maybe in Paul's case a suicide bomber who was hell bent on going anyway and was guaranteed casualties which of course there were. We seem to have lost for now many a good contributor and I believe it is true that some felt loyalty to Paul for perhaps he has helped them and on principle they have fallen silent. For them principles are also expensive but they have peace of mind which is priceless. Some years ago I had the pleasure of working at the Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool. I saw first hand the humour of the Mersey and the Wirral where one moment your are in the social club pints to hand all getting along though not quite understanding each other then..... BOOM, glasses broken and all hell let's loose because someone bought the wrong bloody crisps. You escape to the latrine to remove half a jug from ya radial artery then come back and everyone's buying the pints whilst some birds thigh is snuggling up to ya mates moustache in the corner. You got comfortable with it but it's not everyone's cup of tea and even I would reserve the right to leave the building if there was a top heavy mix of scoucers and micks! I guess what I'm saying is that it's a trait of some to shoot from the hip but I've never been a fan of the semi automatic scattergun, everyone's an easy target approach. We must also realign to the fact that once the election was over certain individuals with political agendas would appear and then disappear at least for another four years and in some ways they carried out their own scrap on the site then buggered off which was going to happen. In the meantime don't be drawn into reacting to posts which are looking for reaction and this post got just that. Our absent posters are reading for sure because as with families it's very hard to break the ties and make it finite. Our Colin does a bloody good job and sometimes has to make difficult decisions. If Paul had apologised later perhaps the outcome would have been different..I don't think somehow that was going to happen but as a result he has gone and in doing so others have gone to. They out of loyalty, Paul with his principles and Hereford Voice being the worse off which I think is a shame. I can't believe that Wirral PC,s vanity would have wanted this for after all ...are we not the poorer for it!
