  1. Mothercare is to close on the 30th March, more trouble for Maylords
  2. Did we not have empty shops before it opened? From my point of view visiting the City around three or four times a week the foot fall has increased by hell of a lot,Yes we still have empty shops and always will do unless we think of alternative uses for them. What I want to see is that fire damaged blot on our City removed and also the butter market revamped
  3. Problem there is who? I can see us in another 5 years saying the same thing. I'd also like to see both the fire & Ambulance service located at the County bus station site with the bus station relocated to the train station
  4. ‘I would build 500 schools’ – Cameron’s pledge goes down well in Scotland David Cameron has made a pre-election promise that many are saying is designed to pander to Scottish voters. Speaking North of the border the prime minister and Conservative party leader promised the Scottish electorate that if they voted for him not only would he build 500 schools, but he would also go on to build 500 more. When asked why he was making the promise the PM told the press conference it was just ‘to be the man who built 1000 schools to get back in Number 10′s door’. He then proceeded to dance while screaming ‘Da la-lat da (Da la-lat da), da la-lat da (Da la-lat da), Da-da-da dun-diddle un-diddle un-diddle uh da-da’. SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon said the PM’s attempt to win Scottish voters over with a half-fried idea based in a popular Scottish song was ridiculous and insulting, something Cameron denied in a strongly-worded letter from America.
  5. Miliband: ‘I will pass law to make collecting Star Wars figures compulsory’ Ed Miliband, leader of the opposition and life-long Jedi commander has stated that if he becomes Prime Minister, he will make collection of Star Wars figures non-optional. The new policy initiative was seized on after David Cameron displayed some indifference to the forthcoming new Star Wars feature films, allowing Mr Miliband to claim for the first time in the election campaign that there were clear differences between the parties. All the figures from the film franchise will need to be collected with a small levy applied on each which will help fund the NHS after the proposed mansion tax has been abandoned, Mr Miliband confirmed. Journalists were left confused, however, as Mr Miliband moved on to other topics but appeared to get his policies mixed up when he said that as Prime Minister he would be using all his powers to combat the terror of I-SITH.
  6. David Cameron call on Ed Miliband to rule our SNP deal This is what's wrong with politics. It makes me suspicious. We've all been lied to and betrayed time and time again by politicians of all colours, and we know that their only interest is to get into power. This plea from the Tory PM to the Labour leader doesn't make me want to think about the specific issues. It make me think "Why has he done this? What tactical game is he playing? In what way is he expecting to manipulate the public? In what way does he think this plea will persuade more people to vote Tory instead of Labour? Does he think that a Labour/SNP pact would be bad for the Tories? Or is this a double-bluff in that he thinks such a deal *would* be good for the Tories and he expects people not to trust him and do the opposite?". It's like dealing with pyschopaths, trying to second-guess what their motive is http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-31780935

  8. Police, teachers and the parents of three teenagers from Liverpool who have run away from home fear they may have been radicalised and travelled south to join the Conservative party. The three girls were last seen at Watford Gap services, wearing traditional Tory dress of yellow corduroy trousers, tweed jackets and a blue rosette. The girls’ headteacher has said it was very unlikely they were radicalised through computers at the school. He did concede a recent spate of industrial action by teachers may have left the girls feeling resentful towards unions and the left, making them a prime target for Tory radicalisation. ‘Looking back we may have noticed some signs they were becoming right wing,’ one of the girl’s parents said, ‘but we thought it was normal for 16-year-old girls to have posters of Boris Johnson on their walls. In hindsight, when she bought a horse, dressed up in fancy dress and started using a pack of hounds to hunt any job-seekers in the area, it was a bit of a clue.’ Merseyside Police say they are following a number of leads in connection with the girls’ disappearance and radicalisation, and have arrested one man for ‘possessing offensive material that can aid a Tory’. A spokesman explained: ‘A man in his 30s is in custody after a dawn raid uncovered a copy of The Sun in his property.’ ‘We will continue to search for these girls and have officers making their way to the Conservative party’s Millbank headquarters, which is where we believe they may be heading.’ When asked what it is that makes people join the Tory party, the spokesman said it was probably due to fundamentalist Conservative dogma which promises that all party members will receive 72 virgins in paradise, or as it’s more commonly known, Henley-on-Thames.

  14. I like many others park in Tesco because its free for 2hrs and it's always full.On most occasions we have to park on the surface car park going around in circles waiting for a space. I'd have a bet 90% of the people who park there ain't visiting Tescos. If the same was applied to the old market you would have sheer gridlock. Also parking in the multi story car park is a cheaper option £1 an hr or £1.70 for 2hrs.The rear door is now open so you are able to walk right into the old market.
