  1. I think you have a point Roger. It could belong to the post office
  2. Did they look like this? http://www.imagebam.com/image/34f7ec355770275
  3. My thought is we don't have to many empty shops we have too many shops, around 320. I have seen that their is a planning app for change of use of three shops at top end of Widemarsh Street into flats.
  4. I'd love to see the one behind the old cinema for local bus services, getting rid of the in Tescos and a new County bus station next to the train station.
  5. Anyone spotted any flowers in Hereford City this year?
  6. Taken from Herefordshire Council web site Hereford scooped gold in this year’s Britain in Bloom competition run by the Royal Horticultural Society. Green-fingered Balfour Beatty Living Places (BBLP) helped secure the coveted accolade with vibrant floral displays. Cllr Paul Rone, Herefordshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways, said he was delighted that the city had secured top horticultural honours. “This is a wonderful award and richly deserved by everyone who has worked so hard to make the city an even more attractive place, both for the people who live here and for our visitors. “I am delighted that BBLP has been able to support this campaign which brings communities together and does something that genuinely brightens local environments.†BBLP crews pulled out all the stops from designing colourful displays to reflect the 50th anniversary of the competition and the start of World War 1 to planting and maintaining the flower beds, planters and baskets. Trevor Swindells, chairman of Hereford in Bloom, added: “I cannot praise the workforce of Balfour Beatty enough. They did a great job to ensure the judging went well.†Sean Pockett, BBLP’s ground maintenance supervisor, spoke of the pride the whole team felt about the competition: “This is much more than just a job for us. We are hugely proud that the planting schemes we’ve nurtured have proved a hit with the Britain in Bloom judges.†Among the colourful floral displays were swathes of poppies and many gold flowers to mark the two anniversaries. Hereford in Bloom secured sponsorship to ensure the city bloomed and the City Council funded the watering. Also, Pembridge and Lyonshall were awarded gold, Bromyard and Leominster were awarded silver gilt and Burghill picked up silver. Judging criteria for the competition are: horticultural achievement, environmental responsibility and community participation.
  7. The nearest air quality measurement system is in Leominster.Infact the one in Leominster is the only one in the West Midlands outside Birmingham.
  8. Reading into this a bit more it has nothing to do with air quality at all.The Emissions list is based on what cars etc are registered in Hereford. The average mpg of a registered vehicle in Hereford does around 40 mpg.Pretty much a load of tosh really
  9. I'm sure that if we switched a few traffic lights off we would be nowhere near the top of this list.
  10. I have noticed they have put in planning for installing more timbers on Edgar Street side and also removing some of the steelwork replacing it with brickwork. I also parked in the OLM today and the car parks were pretty much packed so I recon those big blue signs are doing their job.
  11. Taken from Hereford Times WORK on the Hereford city centre Link Road is anticipated to begin next Spring, after today being given approval following a public inquiry. Results from the inquiry, which concluded in May, have given Herefordshire Council the OK to seize the land needed to built the route. Set to link Edgar Street with Aylestone Hill the road is also essential to plans to build up to 800 on and near the Merton Meadow.
  12. The four day closure has now reached six though I think they have finished the refurb this afternoon. Their needs to be double yellow lines on the corner to stop people parking like idiots.
  13. Soon to be leased to the lads club for £1 a year. Proper football pitches will be installed.Have been told that the road will be resurfaced before lease is handed over.
  14. The 'road closed from 26th August for four days' signs disappeared from Venns Lane early last week. Also noticed no workers there last week.Seems to be something to do with problems with electrical cables in and around the blind college.
  15. They are also resurfacing thee worst road in Hereford by a long way Folly Lane. Also part of Kingsway and the whole of Queensway.
  16. From what I know those units facing Newmarket Street are for business use and are classed as. They were both taken by one business and have been made into one unit so it is looking like whoever was taking it has pulled out. The big Restaurant unit next to Zizi also had a tenant but this also now has a sign offering its leasehold.
  17. You have to wonder why it is illegal when tobacco & passive smoking kills over 260,000 a year.
  18. It says they source their meat and produce locally
  19. Someone gave you a neg for this comment Dip. I'm with you I liked it too
  20. As stated before this is a speculative invoice, nothing more. The most they would get if it went to court which it never will is the cost of parking for the length of time you were parked. This is the reason they never do take anyone that far.
  21. Yes sorry its Joules about to open,
