  1. So Herefordshire Council must have tracked down the Chinese owner of the toilets to enable them to be demolished.Wonder how much he wanted for the site?. Adamski- I hope you are right about KFC, I love that food outlet. But just to be sure I will ask the builders on Monday, and report back.
  2. To Colin and all members a Happy New Year, Glenda
  3. I had a very good working relationship with Inspector Semper in my 12 years of being a councillor. Happy retirement Nick, and thank you for all your work over the years. Glenda
  4. I was disappointed with Country Files coverage about Herefordshire Council Farms, Mr Craig was close to tears when he said he had farmed for 20 years, and he was to old to do anything else. When Country File asked for an interview with Herefordshire Council they declined, no surprise there! but gave a statement saying it was due to loss of funding from Central Government that they had to sell the farms !.
  5. I just heard it was a young man 18 years old, and yes he hung himself, so sad.
  6. HC has reduced BBLP budget, I got in touch asking them to cut back some trees and they told me there was no money to cut trees, grass etc. But I did see them 2 weeks ago taking down a lamp standard by the old HHL office at the Oval, the area is all fenced off now, but the loss of the lamp has made it very dark in that area of the Oval
  7. Dilligaf - I thought you would know why HHL are not taking ownership of the play area, the I believe £154 per year that the tenants/homeowners pay is for the upkeep of the play area and open spaces ( there are not any) that you all have to pay, the first tenants that occupied the properties 2 years ago was sent a letter telling them they were responsible for the play area, I know that's true because the first tenants / homeowners came to me as their then councillor and we ALL opposed it. I have since been asked again what to do and have advised them to go to the press.
  8. At the full council meeting last Friday Cllr Bob Matthews verbally attacked the chairman in his request in regard to Mr Robinson and that he was still waiting for his report from the external auditors, he was told by the chairman to put his question in regard to Mr Taylor appointment, the employment panel sanctioned the appointment with little or no information about Mr Taylor. But according to one social media outlet Mr Taylor is under investigation. Here we go again!!!
  9. I promised to update you please see my post (14) above. All credit to Cllr Bob Matthews leader of the Independents in Herefordshire Council who is determined to get to the bottom of this, this is his piece in the HT this week. QUOTE: council rapped for financial errors. SERIOUS concerns raised about council finances have been addressed by an external auditor. Grant Thornton has completed its audit findings for Herefordshire Council and did not identify any significant control weaknesses. However, the audit did address errors made in council finance documents and said there were " lessons to be learnt". The leader of Herefordshire Independents Councillor Bob Matthews joined fellow councillors in filing a report to the external auditors raising a number of, in their opinion, very serious issues. In particular they highlighted the manner in which major project finances are being recorded and monitored. In response, the external auditors said: "There are clearly lessons to be learned around quality control of financial reporting to committee. " It appears to us that these are errors, omissions and oversights rather than there being a deliberate intention to mislead". The Hereford Times has previously reported how councillors had questioned the accuracy of the reported spend on the Hereford Link road project. Inconsistencies were noted (by Cllr Matthews) between the spend in prior years reported in 2015/16 medium terms financial strategy (MTFS) approved by council in February 2015, and that reported in the 2016/17 MTFS approved in February 2016. Following a review of the relevant tables, it was found that the figures in the "spend in prior years" column of the 2015/16 MTFS had inadvertently included projected spend as well as spend to date. Councillors were given a revise figure of £10,658,000 up to March 31, 2016. But the council's Corporate budget report for the period up to the 31 march, presented to the cabinet in June, showed the total spend for the road project as £14,642,000. And on July 28 at a cabinet meeting, the Economic and Corporate Services report presented to cabinet reported that the earlier capital outturn report contained 23 inaccuracies, which resulted in another change to the spend figure on the capital programme of the city link road project. This latest report says that £6,917,000 was spent in 2015/16 and to the end of march 2016 it was £17,575,000. Cllr Matthews, Cllr John Hardwick and Cllr Sebastian Bowen (Independents) submitted a freedom of Information request to the council asking for a detailed breakdown of the land and property acquisitions costs, and related expenditure in relation to the link road project. In July the council said the spend-to-date on land associated compensation costs was £10.5m but refused to give a detailed breakdown of each acquisition and withheld this under section (2) of the freedom of Information act 2000. END.
  10. I have been reliably informed that these premises also known as the Bath Street Offices has been sold to Herefordshire Housing.
  11. Having attended the Independent meeting last night, all I can say at the moment is in regard to Mr Robinson , yes he has resigned, No he did not get a golden handshake, but this matter is far from over more is yet to be revealed shortly.
  12. As Victor said the tree boulevard and loss of front gardens is Cllr Edwards idea. this is not going to work, and with the trees they have removed the section of Belmont road to get in the correct lane to turn into Walnut Tree Ave. The man needs to engage his brain before coming up with these ideas all to enhance his ego.!
  13. While I was a Cllr and member of the regulatory committee I went on patrol with the police every month on a weekend, and it was an eye opener not only with the party goers / drinkers but also the antics of the taxi drivers.
  14. The story from the opposition leaders is on page 5 of this weeks HT. I will be going to a meeting of the Independents at 5pm tomorrow (Friday 9t Sept) any further news I will report here. Glenda
  15. The Council has been adamant for years that they will not have a tram system on the GWW. The late Albert Heinz not only offered to pay for tram along the GWW but also agreed to run the service, the answer from the council was NO. Mr Heinz put that money into buying the Castle Pool Hotel instead. In regard to the gardens being taken from the houses on Belmont road, again I cannot see this happening these houses are over 100 years old and privately owned, and their cellars are a part of the gardens.
  16. Denise, I questioned this discrepancy with Peter Robinson before I left the council together with Bob Matthews at an Independent meeting, Peter Robinson could not give me a satisfactory answer. I was told today Robinson has gone but with no golden handshake, but was cleared of the investigation by Mr Neil, it has not stopped there Bob Matthews, Terry James, the leader of the Green party and IOC has all signed a letter which will be in the HT tomorrow, it should make interesting reading. Robinson has now moved again from a local authority (Hereford) to no doubt do it all over again somewhere else!
  17. This practice of large sums of money in their bank account has been going on for years. When I was on the parish council I questioned the bank balance also why they continue to put the precept up every year without spending any money, about 2 years ago NALC was taking an interest at my request, but as I am not a councillor anymore I do not know the outcome. There is a rumour going around that Cllr Edwards is going to apply to be chairman, and in regards to his sit on mower it is now redundant as BBLP has taken up cutting the grass again in the past two weeks, because I was talking to the workmen.
  18. There has been road cones and traffic lights at the top of Charlton Ave, going round the roundabout into Masefield Ave and Ethelstan Crescent, but no work being done or workman in sight, just the traffic lights causing chaos.
  19. Having spoken to site manager this morning about the sign I was told they had instructions from Herefordshire Housing to put the sign up who own the road not highways
  20. I went up there this morning while speaking to the police a young girl came over to us and explained exactly what happened because she was there at the time, I told her she should make a statement, the police officer then took some notes as I walked away.
  21. Agree about Belmont if I want an appointment I have to wait 3 weeks, its gone down hill fast since Dr Kippax left.
  22. I asked for a one-way system when I was a councillor in 2005, it has only taken 11 years to be considered, wonder who will take credit for its instalation now?
  23. The atmosphere in the Leisure Centre was electric, when the vote to Leave was announced for Herefordshire the cheers nearly raised the roof off its rafters. At 5.30am the Leave team made an announcement to thank the counting staff for all their hard work. I personally would like to thank the people of Newton Farm for their support during my campaign to leave. Also to the people of Belmont, Hunderton and Redhill, give yourself a pat on the back. Glenda
  24. Colin, now I am confused as Tracy says it is Belmont Rural, and Hunderton & Hinton ward. When the ward boundary commission changed the boundaries the initial naming was for example Belmont, Newton Farm and Hunderton & St Martins, which use to be the old Belmont ward. They obviously have changed again.
  25. Colin, I know its confusing but Belmont Rural is a parish council within the Belmont district council ward, but BRPC is a parish council in its own right. Hope this clears the confusion.
