  1. The new timber walkway construction on the embankment of Belmont Pools (to improve the safety of pedestrians/cyclists across the causeway) has now been completed and looks fabulous! We originally broke this story back in April on our Facebook Page here but forgot to add it to our forums, so here are the photographs we took at the time.
  2. Does anyone have any history on the Belmont Pools? There are more than two, if you walk through the woods there were always a few other smaller pools although there only appears to be one small one now, so 3 in total. Do we know who owns them or who owns the land etc?... We have received any enquiry from a local Herefordian who is interested in the history so any information or old photographs would be appreciated.
  3. Tesco will be relaxing some of their social distancing measures from tomorrow. The store will be removing the one way system in the aisles and all arrow floor stickers will be removed with some being replaced with occasional 'Keep Your Distance' stickers. Tesco feel now is the time to improve the ease of shop across their stores and also remove the need for staff to what are sometimes, difficult conversations with customers. We understand that other measures will also be relaxed similar to that now in place at the Ledbury store, where door staff will no longer be restrict
  4. I have not fished the lake for probably nearly 30 years. I have started fishing again. Are there any fish left in them?
  5. McDonalds Drive-Thru Reopening Next Week. 🍔🍟🥤 We have been reliably informed that the Belmont Road 'Drive-Thru' could reopen from as early as Monday or Tuesday, initially offering a limited menu. This follows the news that KFC will reopen in Hereford next Wednesday. Have you missed your fast food in Hereford and which is your favourite?
  6. LIne Dancing Hereford still going strong. Join us on Monday 7.15 until 9.15 at Northholme Community Centre Beginners to improvers, phone 01432870383
  7. New Safety (speed) camera currently being installed on the A465 opposite the Three Counties Hotel Belmont Road) Hereford. This is been in discussion for sometime so no real surprises here however, the traffic queues along this part of Hereford are constant so we do not envisage high earnings to come from this one... Your thoughts?

  11. Police have had reports of people trying to open van doors in the Belmont area overnight. Please make sure your vehicles are secured and valubles removed.
  12. A large police presence has been gathering this evening along the riverbanks. The river is being searched and the helicopter has provided assistance. This could be in relation to the search for the two missing people. A body has been recovered from the river. It is believed to be that of Ashley George who went missing on Thursday.
  13. Driving along Haywood Lane I noticed someone has dumped a whole load of rubbish and clothing down the side of the embankment next to the railway tunnel. There is a huge amount there as you can see from these photographs.
  14. Some good work being carried out all this week along the Newton Brook in Belmont. The brook has not really been cleaned out in years so it was good to see a JCB making light work of it. This work was paid for by Herefordshire Council and there is now a program for maintenance along this stretch. This work was undertaken following constant pressure to do something from Cllr Tracy Bowes who has been chasing them for months as this is a flood risk. They tried to clear some of the brook near Jubilee field on the last community action day but the silt was above their wellies.
  15. Plans have been submitted for the refurbishment of the McDonald's restaurant on Belmont Road Hereford to include the construction of extensions, reconfiguration of car park and kerb lines to accommodate the new drive thru lane layout. The installation of a new patio awning over the external seating area. The relocation of the pedestrian crossing and the reinstatement of the third Grill bay. Application P174726/AM

  17. BAKERY chain Greggs will be opening their latest store in Hereford over the next few days. The new branch is located at 109-111 Belmont Road, next to the existing Domino's and aims to attract new and existing customers in South Wye Hereford.
  18. I attended the BRPC Meeting last night at the Northolme Community Centre. During the public participation I asked if we could have at least 3 salt/grit bins for Glastonbury Close. One to be situated at the top of the close near Sydwall Road, another at the bottom of Glastonbury Close situated in the turning point on the final bend and the 3rd positioned near to the open space at the very end. Last Winter I drove to Tesco and collected grit on a few occasions and gritted the whole of the close from top to bottom as it is like an ice rink when the temperatures fall below zero. Over

  21. Why is the bank balance of the BRPC showing over £100k? Why is OUR money Not being used within the Belmont Rural Parish? The concentration of effort appears to be limited on or around the Jubilee fields. I requested a Salt Bin back last November for Glastonbury Close and it was refused/deferred now this is something that would cost less than £100 to buy and very little to maintain. I also highlighted the lack of gritting in Belmont way back in 2010 in this topic about No Gritting. We have overgrown tree's and bushes which the council do not have the money to ma

  23. Hi The Parish Council will be holding a Community Action Day in Belmont on Saturday 15th October 2016 from 10.30 am. The aim is to get as many volunteers as possible to try and help with jobs around the parish, including Jubilee Field and public paths. There was a similar event earlier in the year and I ended up spending a considerable amount of time helping to clear a large area of brook with another volunteer!! I am sure the Parish Council will be putting up posters with more detail in the near future, but I wanted to give people advance warning, to save the date :) I think it i
  24. I notice that The Barrels Pub have had a fantastic Beer Festival again this year and have donated money to various local charities! Well done to all involved.
  25. Well, after several conversations with Cllr Tracey Bowes and in turn conversation that she has had with other people finally, the overgrown grass in the field in Sydwall Road was cut today! BB had to use a brush cutter initially to lower the height of the grass as it was way to high for their mower to tackle. It was lovely to see some kids playing football again on here this afternoon. Here are a few photographs that I managed to take while grass was being cut. We do however have large bails of what looks like straw now scattered around the field but hey this is still exce
