  1. Sorry but again this is no surprise after all they would not want to rock the boat to much. I wonder if this company gets support funding from the Herefordshire Council?
  2. Well I'm coming in very late on this thread however Mrs Knight and I moved into Hereford last year from a village just outside Leominster where the majority were retired but a small minority made a contribution from litter picking, village hall management etc, etc. The Lengthsman Scheme was working but more and more was being requested from the chap who in many cases can be a local farmer. The trouble today is that the could not give a sh###t attitude is alive and well living, working and retired in this great county. Litter is a problem for people because it's visible yet so preventable and for most if this problem was addressed they could retreat back into their sitting rooms comfortable in the knowledge that their view will not be spoiled when they go out for their drive to pick up those necessities or perhaps a bit of lunch at the garden centre. The cutbacks made by this council came from decisions made by individuals nestled away in their countryside idyll safe in the knowledge that their conservative vote will not change come May. So we either have to lump it or do something about it...Sadly I'm not seeing a lot of pre election anti council street rants only frustrations vented on this site. Where are the posters, why has no-one grabbed me on the street or knocked my door. Hopefully it might just be that there is going to be a monster swing to UKIP or IOC however the reality is that for most a resignation to another five years of detritus lies within our view. So unless the disgruntled voter puts actions against words please get ready see more topics of horror copied and pasted to this Forum!!
  3. Agreed but at least it gives the club a start though it might be expensive for a fledgling club whose place in the Leagues is yet to be decided. They are going to need support and I still believe that the club will eventually find itself setting up home on a new site outside the city centre. Good Luck HFC.
  4. I see that this development has been acquired by Barratts who intend to resubmit for a planning adjustment..110 homes back on the table with a public exhibition planned at Hampton Dene Primary School on the 5th of March. I know there are a few people on the forum that would like to do away with the lights at the Folly Lane Church Road,Ledbury Road intersection. Realistically this can only work now if Church Road was made one way in favour of traffic coming off Ledbury Road or Folly Lane.If you travel down Church Road towards the junction you are completely blind to traffic on your right and siting a roundabout would not improve this because of the position of the monument. Placing a roundabout instead of the lights and enforcing one way traffic away from the site would speed up flow. Incidentally I recorded 5 mums using mobile phones whilst carrying their precious cargo in just one 15 minute period today.
  5. Well it did seem to be a long way to go for a breakers yard....I wonder if we will see redundant government buildings or perhaps the odd ocean going liner going the same way...for training purposes.
  6. Going to be honest... Mrs Night uses internet for fortnightly internet shop but we religiously park up somewhere south of High Town on Saturday for walk into the buttermarket,WH.Smith's,post office,Philip Morris and coffee etc.I spend most of my week paying over the odds for hospital parking so don't mind making small donation to the Councils expenditure plans!!! Don't get me wrong I think the Old Market is a welcome addition and good exercise and yesterday treated Mrs Night to a meal at Frankie & Bennies,s which was great and let's not forget that should she want to venture into those unnamed big stores then I get a lot more time to myself......one day I might even go into the "Commercial"!
  7. Now whether this is coincidental but today in town their were people handing out leaflets Www.britishheartlessfoundation.co.uk
  8. Good Morning Councillor. I guess for me the national Healthwatch scheme has not been established very long and still finding its feet! I have just made a post on the Hereford Times site about the recent "Question Time" arranged by them.
  9. Interesting development today regarding the sudden resignations on mass of ED Consultants within Worcestershire NHS. This one will tick all your boxes Paul...Whistleblowing,Bullying,failing to comply. This one is awkward for the Trust and Government so let's see how this is spun...
  10. Ahhh it gets the Hulk in me going. Firstly Healthwatch Herefordshire should be made aware if patients or relatives have concerns though I question how much bite this organisation has and how independent. There are other organisations such as Patient Association and of course the CQC. This said there is a certain generation who don't like to make a fuss which as I've stated before is the same generation that have endured far more hardships through their younger lives. These are the greats the "Octogenarian" Legions of yesteryear not forgotten but undervalued. Only time will tell if the government signs off on appointing Trust guardians for whistleblowers however I feel there should be an appointed advocate or guardian for patients as well. ( One per Trust/CCG). The Wye Valley Trust is better off in special measures because then it gets more political attention until the health minister provides more cash. He's taken a pop at the Welsh Health Board this week so let's see if he delivers.... As for the parking well it's probably one of the most expensive by the hour in the country and for one of the smallest hospitals. Its privately managed so the politicians have no control over it. There does need to be a charge but it should be minimal. If you go into Wales it's free but it's also a free for all. I travel to many hospitals in Wales and the South West and it is easily the most expensive for the first hour. It might be worth noting Ubique that on some sites you can apply for dispensation if there are special circumstances. At Southampton Hospital I think the charge is £32-£36 if you run over six hours on the site!!
  11. Well I know what would be ideal but that depends on donations so I have messaged Colin with my intended contribution.
  12. Oh you can just see justification for the creation of more district councils and the bureaucracy and waste that goes with.
  13. Any news Colin on costs from Hereford Times..??
  14. Sadly I'm out of the County most days so appreciate the intel coming in from posters also Here for Hereford. Very strange that there is no media coverage proof can be found by its very absence on the HT site. Cloudberry I think we know that this so called southern relief road will actually be a service road for thousands off new homes.
  15. Truth is that some of these larger charities are run like corporates with all the overheads to match and for this reason a smaller proportion of your donation goes to the actual cause. They might think that this is a clever tactic but Jo public isn't stupid.
  16. I'm sure the insurance company paid out sometime ago because in the first few years the feeling was that this was the hold up....more like a stitch up now.
  17. Oh Flam I'm ashamed I set too easy a task. Smaller people wearing red reminds me of an absolute thriller! "Don't look now" but is that a green donning said coat?
  18. Oh please save us someone.... same statement used by different political groups ...it just sums it up really. So incensed put a reply on Hereford Times!
  19. God these guys take the bloody biscuit...great with flannel but using someone else's!
  20. Let's hope the people of Herefordshire can get organised ..there seem to be many apolitical groups speaking the same language. It's strange that so far apart from the Cons with their financial prowess (HT full one pager self backslapping) the local and national politicians have been very quite on the streets. My Bull Mastif has been patient at the door! This current council believes that it can only finance itself through selling off the rest of its assets and house building for people with no jobs to go to! It does not want to upset papa bear at con HQ so it will strip out wherever. I am one of these people who believes that politicians make rules that only the accountants and lawyers understand who then make a shed load of money providing services to those less fortunate in grasping the nettle and not in the loop. They then take their cash to the banks who spend it wisely of course funding the progress of governments and large corporations who then tell the government's what works best for them..a full circle. Christ this tone sounds familiar. It's cost a lot of money but I would tear up this core stratedgy document and set out a basic plan for the County on two bits of A4. Most of us would agree on what's best for this County and it can be written down in Bullitt Point format with no guff!
  21. As things stand there are people on this site that could offer advice which costs nothing and commits you to nothing and in bed with no-one ( actually I cannot confirm or deny the last part)
  22. Agreed Denise there is no reason why this can't be done...however I guess I'm one those anti Facebook/twitter/linked out types..so quite happy to contribute to this project .
  23. Today I drove down to the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital to meet an old clinical colleague for a 9.00 shout. We were discussing an Anaesthetist who recently had to physically restrain a chap who had decided that it was the right and property time to strangle his wife as she worked on the intensive care unit at Neville Hall Hospital.( In the news current). Anyway throughout that whole trip l did not see one marked Police vehicle. I saw driving on the hard shoulder, people using mobile phones,a lorry kick up a bollard which struck a highway agency chap getting into his stationery van. I like to watch "call the midwife" for many reasons not just to reminisce about past life however we are in a new world now where people have a different .mindset towards life...which for some is very cheap and shallow. They call it the thin blue line but for me it's more intermittent these days and like our roads faded out in places!
  24. Well I should not worry Ubique because the number of Police on the road has drastically reduced over the period of this government with also plans to reduce Police helicopter units to boot. Stealing a cash point out of a wall in Kington is easy pickings these days and people know it. If I were to tell you that during the night hours only a handful of officers are on duty for the whole county looking after what a quarter of a million people! Here's a top tip if you ever believe you are about to be burgled the intruders appear armed should you report this to the Police don't expect an immediate response as with such calls an armed response unit will be summoned and they could be 40 miles away! Sadly you will be on your own until then.
