  1. I think past Irish governments have sold out on their rights to these oil reserves more corruption at the highest level.
  2. Well the boards have gone up around the bomb site and for some reason they want to paint the screen white which of course is a mistake! It's a simple concept we all pretend it's not there because we cannot see it!
  3. Sorry for late response ...I have been offline so to speak. Heh no retraction required your position is clear old chap but to use your analogy"There I was me car needed fixin so I went to see me old mate Stavros who said he could fix my car which had damaged t h e steering because I could not avoid the crater in the road no cash to fix the bloody roads 'cause what monies were there have been stolen, squirreled away by some dodgy contractor. Stavros says no worries Knighty you can fix me garage...but I can't you see , my arm was broken in the crash and gonna be weeks before I can get it fixed" Does this sound familiar ?? As for prosperity well this country was financially broken after WW2 so guess what we borrowed to rebuild and create the NHS and welfare system we have today. Sadly though our generations have taken this for granted. Anyone born after 1950 and particularly those in the 1950-1960 window have fared very well sitting on the crest of a wave of positive lifestyle changes with developing first class health service, social care, free prescriptions, state pensions, final salary schemes not to mention the early availability of new council housing providing homes for thousands. We have not even touched on strong union representation. Yes sure there was the cold war and strikes but generally we can't complain. I have often thought that the people who complain the least are those who suffered the most....these days they tend to be over 75 !
  4. Well gents we will see...back in the late 90's I worked in Jakarta,Indonesia trying to help bump start a failing economy after the yanks had pulled their investments. Two days into my life changing trip I summoned up the courage to ask why people were queuing up next to tankers in the centre of the city. Well it was business and office types carrying away water in small plastic bags the sort you would normally see a goldfish in at the circus. You see there were no plastic bottles to be seen anywhere because the factories did not have the materials to make them. I've paid my taxes and claimed no state benefits since I left school back in 1976. I've never walked away from a debt and served my country but don't think for a minute that I expect to get something in return because I don't. I know that there's a good chance that there will be no state pension when I actually need it and probably no free healthcare either.I feel people and countries should pay their dues after all how can you live off a state if the state has no money? As for Russia well that's more about the ego of one man and one man only. Communism died long ago with only the North Koreans holding on and even that's down to government dictatorships which I know you top posters love so much. Fortunately I am assured that there are members of this forum who have travelled, seen true austerity, witnessed extreme brutality and experienced civil unrest where there is no guarantee that you will live no further than tomorrow. Ah we see it on the TV and at the moment it's in Ukraine but could it be a little closer in twelve months time...what about 5 years. Are you guys really saying bring it on??
  5. Ah another cracking subject well I for one will be very weary of this gift from Greece because it could have implications for all of us and sadly Bobby we have to disagree on this. The reason why Greece got into this mess was because most Greeks paid little or no taxes, corruption was rife and life was a permanent siesta. Totally reliant of public services for employment so basically if they walk away from paying their debts they will have no money,no industry and so much uncertainty which in turn will bring disruption and a lot of anarchy ...which in turn will blow its tourism right out the Olympic rings. It's almost certain that should they walk away from their debt others will follow so stand by for even more people coming to the UK for work, stability and a place to live. What I love about the Greeks is that they are so upfront about the fact that the system was abused for so long. Sorry Bobby mate but this is not a good thing.
  6. Well then it might be very easy for those present to blame absent 'others' when the question gets raised about bedblocking!
  7. They are moving just a few metres round the corner from where they are currently located. Let's see if they are all around in a years time. This is the future for the High street especially cathedral cities...Salisbury, Chichester, Winchester they are all moving this way..after all at the moment it's the one thing that your not likely to order on the internet and have delivered to your door...unless you don't have hot water!
  8. Sorry Chris but as a Councillor do you know why you have no representation here ..unless the provision of funds for looking after people in the community has changed. There were great claims some years ago that Herefordshire was to be a pilot for joined up thinking in healthcare provision. The geography and demographic were ideal ( one county, one council, one hospital and one Clinical Commissioning Group) If it could work anywhere it had to be Herefordshire..how do you think it's gone?
  9. Please..howl can we know this information? surely not the electoral register? If they are acquiring it through microchipping then we had better be careful because someone might come up with the idea that we all have one of these which I just know will not appeal to many big posters on this site.
  10. This is interesting but actually there is one group missing Herefordshire Council!! Looks like you can pitch questions about healthcare at the start of the 'client journey'..GP or Emergency pathway. Even delve into hospital practice and unbelievably representation for the often forgotten mental health but one of the biggest problems in continuity of care is care in the community....whose going to take these questions?
  11. Yes we need to move on with the changes so agree with most recent posters and to be fair even you agree with this Dippy. Mrs Knight and I purchase on the internet but make a point of getting into town on Saturdays parking in Gaol Street shopping through Old Town and walking onto the new development and yes I like my Costa whilst appreciating the Border Oak structure. Would miss the Buttermarket and Phlip Morris if they fell to our shopping habits so are supported accordingly.
  12. Ah come on Biomech it could be worse..it could be Estate Agents like Ubique mentioned or bookies! I appreciate that it might not be St Marks Square however empty shops aside I'm surprised how it can fill up with people just having coffee and a chat. Rather that than drunks rolling around the High Street. Costa does get a bit of stick because it's expensive however there are other cheaper options. They are owned by Whitbread and I believe they pay their taxes. Sadly they have replaced many WRVS tea shops in hospitals which provided valuable funds for equipment however that's down to hospital management wanting improved revenue streams. The other Costa will close so surely it's one less empty and faceless shop in full view of the tourists.....it's a big year for Hereford and tourists! Let's have some circular bill board posters and more flowers...if the Peregrine Falcon returns we might lose a few pigeons.
  13. This scenario sadly gets played out all over the country. Council v commercial property owners..who coughs first. I bet we won't see many Cabinet members touting their political party outside the hoardings in the run up to the election. My solution would be to offer substantial business rate reductions for new commercial occupiers in old town. As shops become occupied the footfall will return and then our bomb site owner might think that the time is right to rebuild. There will have to be give and take on both sides. We should also spare a thought for those businesses who remained loyal to old town so HC should consider this and reward in some way.
  14. Fortunately Ragwert I'm not sure that Tesco,s will have the interest anymore. Another convenience store is just not required so if there are any co-operative members like myself who feel this will be a poor investment then you should make your feelings known to the organisation who after all have had their problems.
  15. Yep Paul is right. I had to take a £15 taxi ride so this was my chance. Thought I would ride in civvies so straight pink corduroy and mandarin shirt. Got into the banter with driver and he confirmed that they had been briefed about said issues. Truth is I think he just wanted to keep me talking and dropped me off with the cab still moving. Can't think what his problem was.
  16. When the clinical commissioning groups were set up they went the same way. It was months before there was proper structure......you know what they need Bobby.......project management consultants...that's what they need😀
  17. Sorry Roger can't do that! I simply forgot to factor in the yellow peril therefore it will stop the lid from closing which could mean Refus..all. So once again it's a very early trip to Ubiques bin.
  18. Now my old mate Merlin ( he will attend other Knights not just Arthur...for a fee of course) has given me some pretty good stuff so that I can read this thread without blowing the coronaries! Firstly it's no surprise about additional parties entering the mix. This will be another set up probably called Aries or Gemini and they are part owned by GP,s from outside Herefordshire wanting a piece of the rural action. But the most shocking news from the last thread was that Ubique was seen ten minutes early!😀
  19. "The CQC was a crock under Cynthia Bower, and sorry for letting anyone down who isn't aware, they're in full damage limitation mode right now. They're doing their best to cover up and head off the next hyper scandal, whatever, wherever and whenever that is" While I don't disagree that the CQC has had its issues they are all we have right now other than organisations like the Patient Association for which I was a former Ambassador. The workload has exploded not just in acute hospitals but also nursing homes. The CQC is not one person you maybe surprised to know that many of its representatives are in fact x members of hospital staff who in their own way found this a vehicle to voice their concerns rather than demonstrate the traits of a whistleblower for which there is only isolation. You are not alone Paul many years ago I took issue made a costly decision in many ways and took the consequences. I have always been a maverick and sometimes it's get you into trouble. It has made me stronger I still keep an open mind and use this quote which sums life up for me....." PRINCIPLES CAN BE EXPENSIVE HOWEVER PEACE OF MIND IS PRICELESS"
  20. Well good news our banned paramedic has had an apology!!!! There were a lot of complaints and I for one had my say! I redacted my details ( love that word). Please see below. Thank you for your email. As I am sure you can imagine the circumstances are complicated and the media reporting has not been completely balanced . I would like to reassure you that your concerns have been forwarded to those who need to see them and they have been noted. Thank you for taking the time to write to us. Kind regards Rebecca Rebecca Currie Communications Officer Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust Executive Suite, Sky Level Worcestershire Royal Hospital Charles Hastings Way Worcester WR5 1DD -----Original Message----- To: Communications Subject: Banned Paramedic Hello I would like to submit my disappointment in the way that the Trust has dealt with this issue. The pressures in the Emergency Department within your hospital are no different than anywhere else in the UK and those same pressures are also applied the ambulance services. Though there maybe sadness within your ED staff that said issues have been made public they are of no surprise to most of the general public. The bond between the ambulance service and ED is strong ..it has to be because they constantly interact. Their issues are with management and your terrible overreaction will do nothing for your credibility. I feel sure that threatening a whistleblower will backfire on the Chief Executive and perhaps your Trust may suffer the indignity of more visits from the CQC, Patients Association and any other organisation concerned with patient well-being. I feel sure that the current health minister will also been informed. I believe you owe this chap an apology because if you don't the Trust Board will be regarded only as bullies. 21. To be honest I think we are fortunate that there is still a place or point of contact let's hope it remains. With so much of our communication restricted to the telephone or internet I fear that the future maybe very different. As a society we have come to expect everything today but the changes have started. This treadmill we call life here in the UK is changing , getting faster with an increased degree of difficulty. More and more people are falling off as the resources diminish. Marry this against an increased number of people coming into the county and a ballooning request for healthcare at home the challenges are immense. With this in mind we need to give a little and accept that for those left employed in front line roles within HC these are also difficult times.
  22. Don't worry Bobby ya can't shock me sadly I've known about these hourly rates for while sadly though it comes as a bit of a shock to many!
  23. You see it's Sunday night...I'm rested, had a read and taken my last cuppa of the day but that little devil that occasionally torments my mind dares me to place a reply to this topic. You see I'm in a good place so I don't want to change my mindset so won't tap "report here about". Please Please...Joint Property Vehicle...what the Canasta is this all about. You see I'm not the big shiny white knight Sir Whats-his-Stig living in Arundel Castle whose english, grammar and general use of the dictionary are as extensive as the grounds outside the moat. No I'm more a Robin Hood kind of Knight that found an old suit covered in moss some years back whilst metal detecting near Glastonbury. So if anyone out there can help this rusty old chap please reply...be as brutal as you like though the lack of response to the post speaks volumes. Have a good week.
  24. Thanks TWG. I appreciate that there are many roads in Herefordshire in need of repair in fact I intend to submit my alloy wheel reconstruction bill to the HC following a drop into a pothole recently. I'm very concerned about the main easterly roads out of the county particularly the A44,438,417 and 4103.
  25. Just watching Countryfile where they discussed recruitment issues in rural general practice highlighting the Scottish Isles. If they can change working practices to make local healthcare delivery a positive experience then surely the problems in Kington for example can be resolved.
