  1. I might be wrong Chris but I think there is a chap that has an old "British Railways" shunter that he starts up and moves along the track there occasionally. Whether he owns the track I can't say! Some men have "n" gauge in the loft whilst others need a bigger scale!
  2. In Winchester only last week and I'm ashamed! A place where a flat will cost you £270,000 and a two bedroomed terrace around £400,000 and the penny pinching council cuts back on litter picking.Highways England has started clearing litter on the A34 but as you say megilleland how much will it cost to change the signs on the vans or will they just trade the vans in for new ones!
  3. Good points Denise ..if it did get off the ground we all know where it started.
  4. Well Colin I understand your predicament sadly having to endure the travelling myself which of late has become rather a slog. That said mate I think you do a cracking job on Hereford Voice and you never know when the time is right!!! For now we do what we can. If your happy I'm going to make contact with a couple of printers to see the cost of producing the advert in A5 or perhaps A6 leaflet form....with a plan to do secret banksey leaflet drops...are you ok with that??
  5. I agree John where there's a will there's a way! I've just watched a documentary by the BBC about Detroit Soup.Found it inspirational and perhaps offers up ideas which might help to overcome many of the challenges that lay ahead. Now as mentioned before I'm no big hitter for social media however this crowdfunding seems to be a growing phenomenon!
  6. It's also great to see so many members contributing to Colins Crusade..yep it's becoming one of those mate..I think you need your own coat of arms!
  7. Phenomenal ...this site has achieved more POSITIVE discussion in three days than some mainstream party councillors in a complete term of office. It's a project we should all embrace because it ticks are green credentials whilst modernising our infra structure. With enough support I believe funding for this project could be found even outside the Council budget. There are plenty of philanthropists out there some no doubt with hidy holes close by who would contribute to such a cause!
  8. Psst. John over here! It's definitely a runner ...and not something you will lose votes on. IOC & Indi,s for me and just in case we have to go back to the polls months down the road you need to start thinking about candidates for MP,s both North & South!
  9. Colin...you've created a monster..but with a huge smiley face!!
  10. We certainly need another river crossing Ragwert but this current idea would be to create a road possibly finished in 2018 but without a crossing which might arrive if we are lucky well into the 2020's and that's just not good enough. In the meantime this supposed southern relief road would just serve as access for thousands of new houses. If the monies had to spent on roads then let it be spent on a road bridge somewhere on the east of the city with a bypass to follow at a later date
  11. My sentiments exactly Victor and recently posted similar comment on Grid Lockers post regarding the millions spent on the new no-where road in the centre of town. Also this is just what Hereford Voice is all about and the greater the positive response the more weight behind the argument. It has to be a cracking project worth funding from National Lottery and the like!
  12. Yes we love our no-where road projects ..this one appears lost but the proposed southern relief road must be blocked. I think it was ragwert that asked what could be done with the monies apparently found....well I think we have the answer now...a North/South Tram incorporating Rotherwas and nicely parked against a new railway station. Could we pitch a stop next to Hereford Station with a coach stop to boot???
  13. How about getting a petition like your lights campaign on our front page? Sorry I'm a little prehistoric because I see the benefits of social media but refuse to sign up to Facetwit and bookter.
  14. This is not pie in the sky it has legs Colin or should I say rails!
  15. Maybe our conservative candidates can invest some of their cash into this project ...perhaps profits coming up from forthcoming London house sale...declared of course!
  16. Evening all and what a great centre stage positive topic to bring to the headline page just as our page comes up in the Hereford Times ....brilliant Colin and thanks for getting the Voice to paper!
  17. So it's back to Frank's introduction. You actually want to say bugger it I'll do it myself but then both the Council and Balfour Beattie could sit back and take all the credit. I've noticed recently that there has been an upsurge in pothole filling. Are we expecting a government minister pre election though they would probably get flown in. Also we've done away with white lines of any description!
  18. I don't disagree Denise and to be honest I would not part with my pennies until there was a new council, a council with a conscious whose actions are transparent. Today it's been announced that the Mencap office is to close, the Citizens Advice Bureau is under severe financial strain and this is only the begining. Pensions are a big concern because there can be as much as a twenty year variance between the early retired and those at the other end of the scale.
  19. So I have a dilemma. I know that soon the election will be over my vote cast, for richer....no probably poorer though for some there will be hard times for sure. Now I'm thinking that my Council Tax will rise and my hard earned cash will be placed into the Bank of Herefordshire for local politicians to break down and carve out into tiny little pieces though this will be no fishes and loaves scenario. Not everyone going to get a bit not even a morsel but I will have no control on who gets what. What if there was an option to part with just a little more but on the proviso that you named that organisation or group who you felt were most in need. I'd want it ringfenced oh yes bigger than the bloody Berlin Wall, perhaps two fences after all Steve McQueen got over one! You see Mrs Knight and I are not wealthy far from it! We don't expect a significant pension and inheritance is for the fortunate. We do expect to work on in some form or the other well past 65. However we are happy..content in our Castle Bungalow and mini wheels outside. If I could choose three pots I would part with another £50 a year. A noble idea or am I the fool?
  20. Let's hope Dippy that we can at least vote for an organisation that will offer some form of stand against the central government cuts that are sure to come once this election is cast. Sadly I feel sure that irrespective of who gets in we will expect an above 2% increase in Council tax just to protect existing services.
  21. GDJ makes some very good points. Interestingly my wife and I know a young family who made the conscious decision to move to this County because they felt that it offered a better quality of life for their son with Downs Syndrome. I don't think they are an isolated case.
  22. For me the local voting is easy however with just the five options nationally what choice is there and to be honest without wanting to waste my cross..what the ..
  23. Thinking about it this could also be used as a leaflet as well!
