  1. Hang on a minute ...that's what's happening it's ground hog day only running on a 25 year cycle.I'm sure I heard on the TV promises of cheap council housing sell offs...class war,Mrs T oh god then the miners strike and later bloody Norman Lamont and 15% interest rates..now where is the vinyl and a little bit of chic. Can anyone see Bobby on the floor with the Gap Band!
  2. Hopefully Amanda you just made your complaint to Mr Longmore without adding your other two paragraphs otherwise you might need Julians mobile! That's Mr Assange not your other half unless of course they are one of same.☺
  3. Well Robertp you are most welcome as are all the parties ..please be prepared for honest discussion and frank opinion.
  4. Please don't be bored sir because you have made an assumption that based on years of service I've acquired this huge as you put it" CPI linked pension" .....sometimes whistleblowers don't get pensions and as my tag line suggests......principles can be expensive however peace of mind is priceless" chin chin!
  5. Ok so here's my position and mine only. Thirty five years ago I joined the NHS a not for profit organisation, a star for me, the saviour of thousands and when the **** hit the fan I was there in the thick of it enjoying what I did. I got paid peanuts but that was not what it was all about. It was a service not a product with features and benefits a free service regardless of who you were where you came from and whether you could afford it. I absolutely applaud research and development for new products, drugs and new technologies but having to pay for an alternative service even if not directly well it gets the same response from me as it did when we lost free eye appointments and dental care. Perhaps I'm the fool but this is the first stage in the possible drive towards GP,s charging for their services. Whilst Taurus and the like charge NHS England for their services I would much rather see money spent offsetting the huge amount of monies collected by charities keeping all the air ambulances in the skies. I've seen millions yes millions wasted on new electronic record patient management systems which become outdated as soon as they are launched in fact some never got launched at all and besides If such systems were the be all and end all why do we still have a written record. Maybe I'm a dinosaur but I'm a fare hand with portable ultrasound, can still use a defibrillator and thought the De Vinci robot was impressive kit. ..and here,s another thing ..GP,s don't have the monopoly on stretched resources and exhausted staff what about the Emergency Department Medics why shouldn't,they have the means to run a little private enterprise. I jest of course but would creeping privatisation arrive on the crumpled tarmac of the private M6 Toll where ya leg is broken and the green team arrive only for you to say sorry I've got Branson coming in one of his gold livery specials..his medics have all the right gear and they're gonna fly me to Harley Street.Anyways his medics look good in their suits complete with all the trimmings to make your critical experience an enjoyable one. Nope when i worked the NHS it was because it was a not for profit organisation and now they occasionally get my services for free.
  6. As Colin mentioned on the radio we are some way off a bypass solution. The fact that a lot of the potential infrastructure for this project is present has to be a positive and I can't see why it could be extended to form part of a station, hospital, uni hub. The sooner we can get stuck into a feasibility study the better in my book. I can't remember what the problems were for the Edinburgh system which for a while hit the buffers however it's up and running now and generally wee received.
  7. Well Newbury bypass solved a problem for me because I am usually on it at least once a week! Thousands of cars use it every day though it's probably not local traffic. If it was not there then it would be through Newbury itself and I remember those days before the bypass...not for me thank you. There seems to be a concept that most people in Herefordshire work in Herefordshire well sadly this is a myth and I suggest one takes a look at the roads heading out eastwards in the morning or down south to the A40 or A4137. I have friends now who would prefer to drive across the M50 and up the M5 for the M42 and the like rather than struggle up the A road towards Worcester and then the sorry A4440 which as a single lane was always going to be overwhelmed. Yes they are now dealing with certain aspects of it but the stricture in the road still lies with the Carrington Bridge. I agree that during half term the roads locally behave better thanks to no college or school run however whatever is happening locally the national road system needs major investment because the motorway network is now saturated both by working traffic and increasing levels of young retired and holidaying at home types. For this reason many haulage firms and motorway avoiders are coming off piste so to speak....and what better way of driving south from the North West ..yep an old Roman Road which basically runs in a straight line from Shrewsbury to Ross. Great scenery different pace the good old A49 just one bloody bottleneck Hereford. I love this place but sometimes we do live in a bubble. Outside factors do have an impact on our lives here in Herefordshire so let's build a bypass allow those who want to pass by just do that and let those who want to embrace our lifestyle enter after all that's what I and thousands of other motorists do when I head to Winchester. I love Herefordshire but there are few employment opportunities with a decent salary to match so it's the roads for me and I'm sadly not alone.
  8. Heard it Colin great stuff Hi Amanda...Very much hear what your saying and agree though it would not help the problems we have until such time as we have a bypass. GreenKnights transport wish list in order of a timeline would be: 1. Cancel Southern Relief Road nonsense with immediate affect. 2. Drive the idea of a tram system North/South which would bring so many benefits to city particularly in view of University and links to rail & hospital and coach station. 3. Start the process of seeking out a Eastern Bypass route taking traffic away from city centre at the Northern approaches around North side of Homer and South around Rotherwas with a beautiful raised platform bridge crossing Rivers Lugg & Wye. This bypass would support better links to our Ledbury / Worcester roads. 4. If all above is achieved then we should finally be able to remove dualling and lights within our city centre improving quality of life and reducing air pollution. We would have cycleways everywhere perhaps even horse and cart taxi/ tourist players even the Countryside Alliance could ride through town. 5. To be honest Small & Park and ride locations could also be found off new bypass. 6. Finally a folly really but if we can't get our secret Philanthropists money to invest in said bypass I would love to see the reinstatement of the canal system to Gloucester because this would open open even more green tourism. One things for sure we won't get short of retired folks and the way the world is going more people are likely to holiday at home! There you go my transport wish list.
  9. and I'm sure Dippy will be looking for some very special boots for that occasion!
  10. Truth is Rebecca you do look like you could cause trouble perhaps jumping out of the busted up Skoda while he or she is adjusting the dash cam. I reckon you made them nervous!!! Seriously though we now have a name to complain and its on this thread somewhere. Did you get his badge number?
  11. Good Evening Mike Fitz I'm a relative newby to the site and as Mick said we are currently in pre election mode. I joined back in September and have quickly picked up on those Councillors who do stirling work for their communities many of which are independent or IOC and some operate within this site however all are welcome. I guess it does look a little biased towards these groups however for me this is more about disaffection for the five party national option. At least locally we can measure performance and although IOC is a party it's prime concern is for the future of Herefordshire and not some national party user manual. Please bookmark the site chap I have a feeling it's going to get busy here!

  13. Hi Jean and a very warm welcome. Some of us including myself went to the exhibition event at the Three Counties Hotel a few months ago. It was quite clear for most of those that attended that there was little support for this scheme. Generally seen as an excuse to build houses in big numbers with a hope that Rotherwas might provide work for anyone moving into the boxes..after the event of course! Not due to be complete until 2018 at best the big sell is that a bridge might follow but not until the 2020's maybe. On this site there is support for an Eastern Bypass for the A49 with a new bridge obviously. You will find a lot of support here Jean and this will become one of the big topics post election.
  14. Yes I'm not sure what this means for those with aspirations of linking up the canal system to Gloucester.
  15. Thanks for the map two wheels. I'm sorry I still can't see the benefit. Coming from Tupsley and heading North I would still continue to give the town a wide berth so travelling past the blind college round the back of the steel works then up to starting gate roundabout. I would avoid the crawl near Pizza Hut etc. However it might get interesting should the University campus start developing around the area.
  16. Accepted Denise and I think I made reference on another post that you can display as many flags as you like but you only get one vote!
  17. Thank you Glenda and I wish you the very best.
  18. Cambo is right Dippy unfortunately..Golden Valley rural conservative idyll where Conservative support is strongest and back slapping, secret handshakes go hand in hand. The blue veins of prosperity can be seen quite vividly as you run along A40,A465 roads between Hereford,Monmouth and Abergavenny..I'm not talking Cornflowers either!
  19. Well he sure has sat in a lot of "Chairs"! I'm not sure about munitions however the Germans are reinstating 100 mothballed tanks because of the Russian threat...madness.
  20. Sorry it's late ...a longish day stretched out more because of the holiday traffic rather than hunting down a hospital car parking space because you see it's half term and the end of a holiday year in the NHS so use it or lose it! End result empty car parks, outpatient clinics cancelled , cold surgery on hold...no staff! You know it's quite possible to acquire almost 40 days hols a year when you've done a bit of time with mother NHS. If I thought for a moment that organizations like Taurus were providing additional resources at no extra cost to the old girl then I would be delighted, joyfully retiring to my chair comfortable in the knowledge that should my tickly cough prevent me from watching"have I got news for you"I could jump up and taxi it to this rescue centre without dialling magic numbers or fear the wrath of my local "call of duty ED". Where did it go wrong..Well it started when GP,s were presented with a blank cheque by the Labour Party during The Blair Which Project. Yep Tony gave the crew an opportunity to fill in their own salary requirements and just for good measure feel free to complete your own job description..and with a strike of a pen it was done ..goodnight on-calls. So now the money is so good today's GP,s don't have to work full time and guess what most don't, except for those who oblige their employment commitments to the minimum but hey they then come back providing a support service setting up said companies and charging NHS England for the privilege unless of course you believe these organizations are not for profit charities if so then I humbly apologise. We get told there are a shortage of GP,s but do we actually know how many GP,s are part time. There is a certain similar healthcare provider in the South of England that houses old colleagues earning around £200K a year for each doc so please tell me if this is sustainable. Don't worry though for I'm absolutely sure that once regular practice attendees get sight of a free cup of tea and perhaps an opportunity to deface or camp out in the plush waiting area whilst reading the latest copy of Country Living the shine will be lost unless of course we engage in the process of selective clients, sorry patients. Sadly the NHS needs to become a 24/7 service in all aspects of its performance and GP,s need to get on board with that. It's probably fair to say that many of the patients that fill the appointments book are regulars some with often over complicated medical social problems made more difficult because of the lack of continuity in their care and part time personnel don't help with this. Meanwhile we have to accept that the number of worried well individuals are increasing which means that waiting rooms are clogged with regulars. So this would be a good time to step in and say ..Well this is where Taurus come in. No because Taurus make a profit and they do so by submitting invoices to NHS England for work and services that they provide when perhaps that money could be used to bring in more doctors and services to mainstream practice. I'm paying for the plush surroundings , the agency rates, the bonding weekends when I'd rather go to my regular practice see my regular doctor who doesn't have to rely on third party notes to understand the individual sat before him. The best form of continuity of care starts with the relationship that the doctor has with his patient and for the majority of us that was lost some years ago. With the best will in the world this medic, this stranger before me can only listen ask you what you think is wrong and tell you what you want to hear! He or she will only know what's on the computer.Good luck with that!
  21. Ah excellent... I'm catching this post from afar having just walked out of the theatre department at the UHW in Cardiff so whilst I begin my journey home I will prepare a suitable response in my head however myhatmycoat welcome to the site it's good to hear from you I'm sure that Bobby will socially engage in the meantime.
  22. Well he needs a flipping PA at least and who,s in charge of spin? I've never met the King but my image of him sitting on the throne in the commercial has no room for spin!!
  23. I want to disagree with Bobby,s comments but I cannot. When I joined the Hereford Voice in the Autumn of last year I recognized the fact that here was a site where people can have there say good or bad, in the public interest or not but it's free speech committed to word which is why it is great to have opinion from the likes of Bobby,Paul,Dippy,Ubique,GK et al.In the last two weeks we have had two very different topics dominate the front page both of which have generated discussion. Whatever the outcome to Amanda's original post it was important to bring it to the attention of the site. Some may query the substance, some may question the eventual outcome but it has had an impact and generated thought. Personally I believe that if we had a little more respect for each other life would be easier and in this case the turn of events would have been far different.
  24. It's true to say that these girls have had more of an impression on English politics than our own pathetic handful though I did enjoy the Greens recent party political! Blair the ultimate Teflon man with religious coat and a rucksack full of cash courtesy of the lecture circuit. It was said that as a growing up politican he would do just about anything to move forward within the party but I guess that's how it is....politics. Blair & Bush signed off on a contract which eventually started the destabilization of both the Middle East and North Africa cracking job boys. I know where my local vote is going but nationally there aren't so many options however the only smile I can offer is in the knowing that you can stick as many blue conservative flags in your fields of plenty but you only get one vote!!!
  25. Have been watching this thread whilst away and therefore had a little time to post a comment. A lot of things went wrong right from the moment that Julian was pulled over and it beggars belief at what point the custody sergeant thought his monitored actions might not come back to bite him in the backside. It makes no sense these days after all any suggestion of video editing or doctoring timelines will come out in the wash unless of course he is looking for a way out but not with the pension! I would think by now the station super has taken calls from an Assistant Chief Constable even prior to responses from the official complaint mechanism! Sadly officers covering West Mercia Herefordshire have got a lot of bad press recently sadly self inflicted. As a recent incident in the USA has shown video is a very powerful tool and as stated before it does not hurt to have it fitted in your car. It's for your own protection against other drivers including the Police, who don't have a badge to either drive badly or intimidate drivers particularly if not under a blue light scenario. Personally I drive with more than one video solution monitoring events front and back of the vehicle and I also have audio. At a drop of a hat I can produce a looped three hour timeline which endorses my driving style just in case someone feels it necessary to suggest I was doing something that is incorrect. If your confident about your driving style then don't let the system score one on you. You might get cheaper car insurance to boot. I'm sure Amanda that Julian will get a full apology based on your details of the events it's just a shame because there are some excellent serving officers out there but just at the moment Hereford seems to have a lot of bad pennies.
