  1. 3 times a year Rag, each time the grass is actually cut, the public will see this as a "win", instead of for what it is. Then it will grow, people will complain and then the public will "win" again when the next scheduled cut happens. The actual overturning of the poor service won't happen. It's like the public will just keep taking a pill everytime things start to get leary and they will be happy again until the pill wears off (grass grows back)
  2. That's the problem for me, some aren't prepared to accept it, others are happy to take take take with no intention of making any effort or desire to change. If it were me, I'd have a 3 strikes strategy. The helps there, you systematically fail to take it, you get punished. I know a lot of people who work in the social care industries and the amount of times these people arrange to do peoples shopping, go over paperwork, bills, legal work, arrange to meet them at court or help them with a drugs issue and these people consistently fail to turn up for no reason other than they couldn't be assed, "forgot" to attend court for the 15th reschedule or because they know that there is no consequence,... is unreal.
  3. A wet zone would be a plaster. We need prevention, not a cure. These issues need to be stopped before they get this far
  4. I agree with AV, a large number of the repeat offenders really couldn't give two shits about improving their quality of life. Help those who want it, remove those who have no intention of trying to fit in
  5. A wet zone sounds alright. I agree that it's not a problem that should be swept under the carpet and hidden, but the reality of the matter is that a large proportion of these people couldn't care less and have no desire to better themselves.
  6. As for Jesse Norman, looks like he's now starting his campaign for the general elections next year - we haven't heard a peep out of him for quite some time, elections due, he pipes up.
  7. So these private housing/developers can get their areas maintained but BB under contract with the council fail to do so at every turn.... not surprising really, as they have the council completely under their thumb.
  8. I only see one telling me I never check them :P Maybe there's a message cap - Colin will know
  9. Those Monmouth folks were down around Saxon Gate again today as I drove past - what's that, cuts every 4 weeks? or less?
  10. hah, it didn't say I had anything new :P I just checked and it's mostly you telling me off lol :)
  11. In other news, I'm not too far behind you dippy :P http://www.herefordvoice.co.uk/index.php?app=members&module=list&max_results=20&sort_key=posts&sort_order=desc&filter=ALL
  12. Agreed, people need to post more - by all means remain anonymous. But I think the stats are fairly common, there's 249 members and, lets say 12 common posters(?). I used to moderate a forum with 500,000 and, needless to say, not all of those were active :P it would have been chaos! The trouble we found, as have many other boards, is that facebook came along and between it's groups and pages, took a large bite out of the online forums. So this is why you find these Your Hereford, Your Say and OLM Hereford facebook pages doing so well - people don't need to leave their screen (what facebook wants). The downside to that, of course, is the lack of anonymity. Perhaps it would be worth running a facebook Page alongside the forum? You might get a bigger reach and then use that reach to attract comments on topics and draw people here to allow anonymous input
  13. I saw a guy on Ross Road cutting the banks today - he had to use a petrol strimmer because there was no chance a mower would touch it. There were 4 patches, it took him all day as it was effectively being done by hand. That was before sitting at those ******* traffic lights for another 10 minutes... 8-10minutes, that's the change time on them, that's how long you sit there with the lights on red. And when they turned to green, a flood of oncoming traffic came through - first I thought it was just the standard Hereford idiocy of running red lights that is all too common these days, but it went on so long I'd have to say that their lights AND our lights were on green at the same time, So be warned, avoid ross road after 8pm. Instead go Belmont Road / Walnutt tree cut through
  14. Front page of the HT is Tommy A and his plight to save the club..... I thought he just left? Oh wait - what day is it now..
  15. You mean like..........................................................................summer?
  16. Only because you have to get out quickly before the church pastor spots you ;) I've seen areas where this has happened so guessing it is true. You're right, it would be easier for them to cut that as well, but then they are doing another companies work for them while the other company gets all of the money. And that's just wrong. Not to mention compounding the current trend of us paying someone for a service and them finding a way not to do the work.. because "well, HH do that now, so we don't have to ££££"
  17. The way I see it is that this is just a farce, it's going to be "lectures" spread across the city in different side buildings. There will be no standalone "university", they are just trying to posh things up the same way they do by renaming all high schools to "academy's" now. I've done evening classes at the colleges, getting all excited for the college atmosphere only to find out one week the class is in sublet by the police station, the next week it's in a rented meeting room down some back alley. Quite disappointing.

    Roadworks

I noticed last night that the road at the bottom of the callow hill has been resurfaced. But that's the only bit on the Ross Road that has been done. Likewise, through Rotherwas it's just the pavements that have been down with the pavements around the petrol station on Ross Road in Hereford being worked on now. I'm fortunate enough to not have to go out through Hereford much, I honestly don't think I could deal with working in town and having to commute every day. Worst for road quality and traffic I have experienced in the UK. With the exception of Sevenoaks (iirc) for potholes and Bristol center for traffic

But all I'm seeing is the pavements being redone - not the roads. All down Holme Lacy Road, they've had lights and cones out and all that has been done is the pavements - which hardly get used and had nothing wrong with them. They haven't touched the road. You know how long it took me to get from the Broadleys to Asda last night? 20 minutes. 20 ******* minutes at 10pm at night. It's beyond a joke. Why have they let the roads get into such a state, now we have awful roads, more roadworks and even greater disruption, And they are doing EXACTLY that same with the grass now - leave it all alone and ignore the problem and then when it comes to the crunch, cost more, have more work to do with greater problems. It's a ******* joke.
  20. Should be A LOT more than £250 on that invoice, £25k would be a start. Needless to say that our council don't even have the balls to enforce their own contracts let alone take action against all of the infringements

Can someone (councillors?) explain to me why there's a lot of disruption to the roads so that the pavements can be replaced when the roads are in a much worst state?
  22. Indeed. I don't hate the place, but the clothes shops never have anything even remotely interesting in and I just have had no need to go there again
  23. I must admit, I haven't been back to the OLM since my first visit. I simply have found no need to what so ever!
