  1. I don't mind them as long as they leave after Christmas. But I agree with bobby, if they are setting up in one spot they should pay like the market people (do?). Although from Roger's example, I can't imagine a knife sharpener or boot polisher moving from one spot. Great idea, call it a "peddlars market" at least they are all together, it provides a fixed point for shoppers and a "feature"
  2. You know, next spring I might just do that, offer a collection service, gather it all up and sell it back to the council as compost. Why the council themselves don't do this obvious money spinner is beyond me
  3. I've decided to take up grass cutting collection as a new hobby, problem solved :P
  4. Well I can't say it came as much of a surprise, I don't know who started all of this ebola crap, I'm sure they performed a lot of tests.
  5. I think it's because you're making things up and people cant tell if you're joking heh
  6. The chances of ebola are extremely slim, it just sounds like they are being cautious that's all. I can't imagine them closing the hospital even if someone did have ebola, after all, the hospital is the place everyone goes to to be ill, it's to be expected there. Sounds like a lot of rumour and speculation to me
  7. Been a long time since I was at college - but we never had any issues then - and we car pooled, you know, being broke students and that :P Must be all the foreigners ;) ;)
  8. When I was at school we had bus passes for the year, I'm not sure where they came from or who paid for them, but I can't imagine it being that much. When I was at college the parking was free all around college - has this changed now?
  9. I recycle more than I should, my bin is frequently over capacity. Recycle or waste, either way, the bins can't cope with the amount of waste we have. Collection date has passed, it's now the property of the council as far as I'm concerned and the council are now responsible for fly tipping. You can get bigger recyclers, not sure about black ones - should be able to considering how they are even smaller than the green wheelies (and much weaker plastic, I wonder how they will stand up). You can get/check details on the HC website about waste. As for the grass in black bags in my garage - still there. I guess soon I'll have some nice new compost lol
  10. So we're 3 days in. Mine has't been collected and I've been told it won't be for another 2 weeks. Despite the scheme starting AFTER my standard collection time. A mother has posted this to the council facebook page... "Never had a bin delivered and dustbin man said today there wouldn't be any point in having one as they can't take it down a step and out my gate . He also said he could only take 4 bags , really ? For a family of 5 with babies ? So this is the result , bags left with rotten meat in that have been sat there for 2 weeks and all torn by cats . Already have a rat problem and this is just adding to it. And we pay council tax for what exactly? So well done , your bright idea as clearly worked . All this will do is attract rats which can spread disease , make our homes stink and encourage fly tipping ." Can be found on the council's page here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=903448389667606&set=o.168998463236435&type=1 and Council apologises for bin mix up as new collection system starts http://www.herefordtimes.com/news/11581623.Council_apologises_for_bin_mix_up_as_new_collection_system_starts/?ref=mc Crews working *LONGER* as new bin collections bed in http://www.herefordtimes.com/news/11595720.Crews_working_longer_as_new_bin_collections_bed_in/
  11. They didn't collect mine, so it's left for another 2 weeks. As a 2 person house hold that recycles, we have 2-3 black bags a week. But here, here's another case; https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=903448389667606&set=o.168998463236435&type=1
  12. We're coming up to winter now, let's see how their "plenty of stocks" of salt hold up :)
  13. The green bins come at about 5am in a truck that sounds like an interplanetary mining ship taking off - I imagine others here have heard it. The black bin guys come anywhere between 10am-12pm which suits me just fine as I prefer not to leave rotting meat on the streets all night for the cats etc.
  14. I can't for the life of me remember where it was, but I saw the council advertising for Bin men this week. Which is interesting considering how they have axed so much of the service My black bin men are fantastic. The recyclers are a bunch of lazy, useless, argumentative pricks who will find absolutely any reason not to take the rubbish away
  15. Ah, I thought everyone referred to them as EU's these days :P Maybe the Polish comes about as quite a few have Polski written on the signs - who knows :)
  16. No Colin, this is yet another one, the one in your "2nd link" refers to the raid on "Zabka", this new one is for "European Fresh Foods". I'm not sure where the "polish" part comes/came into it though
  17. Close shop, reopen under new owner name, carry on as usual
  18. "Hereford Magistrates heard that the haul of non-duty paid, smuggled, and fake foreign labelled cigarettes seized at European Fresh Foods, Eign Gate, was worth around £13,000 at street value." http://www.herefordtimes.com/news/11572114.Thousands_of_illegal_cigarettes_found_secreted_in_a_Hereford_shop/ And, of course, I draw your attention to these threads; Here and this one Here
  19. It's absolutely ridiculous, and I think the time is coming when people are really going to start to kick off about it
  20. I don't allow my judgement to be clouded by a persons political party - which is why I judge each of you on what you say without learning who you stand for. Incidentally, I now learn that Cllr Chappel stands for the Independents. I would like to congratulate you Cllr, for single handedly losing my vote for your party.
  21. Councillor Chappell. Considering everything that comes out of your mouth is a lie, that you clearly have contempt against the tax paying public of Hereford and that you spend your time sniping at other councillors; May I ask, what is it you actually do? Why are you a councillor? What is your motive? You're either extremely naive and have no idea what is going on - and shouldn't be a councillor, or you're in it for some kind of self gratification and, again, shouldn't be a councillor. Case in point; So you'll be able to explain these documents obtained via FOI referring to the development of the ground then? "An email released to the public under a Freedom of Information request shows that then Hereford Futures boss Jonathan Bretherton told senior Council officials that the Edgar Street site could be a possible supermarket." http://bullsnews.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/offer-site-to-competitive-bids-from_27.html "This includes the development agreement which was concluded with the previous owners of the club at the beginning of 2014. " https://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/transparency-hufc
  22. There's a rumour on the Hereford Bulls site that it's being offered up to Tesco. Which would mean taking it from town and moving it to the OLM. http://bullsnews.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/offer-site-to-competitive-bids-from_27.html
  23. It's a cratered, out of date, derelict eye sore slap bang in the middle of their OLM and Urban Village - you decide ;)
  24. Just coming back to the title - and because I'm feeling angered. FOUR BLACK ******* BAGS ONLY PER FORTNIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (beginning with Christmas, the busiest time of the year for refuse (hah, bobby, refuse/refuse, how ironic))
  25. Let's be realistic, taking control of the grounds (chains are apparently on the gate now) was the councils goal (no pun intended) the whole time. That carpark and stadium is an old blight right bang in the middle of their OLM and Urban Village projects.
