Clarkester...now it might just be me however it seems that those who ridicule the county the most are those that have never lived elsewhere. Now is that a controversial statement? I think it's a wonderful place and have observed all the things you mentioned.

Based on my first post on this thread...he has no teeth. He doesn't have a grey suit...he,s just grey and more so than Mr Major. I am so disappointed and he could never be a leader of this country.Should he have more time...nope.

Ah he's dithered and then changed his mind no doubt based on those advisers banging in his ear. For God same at least stick to your principles man! In stressful situations decisions sometimes have to be made quickly whether they are right or wrong. Consequences can be far worse if a decision is not made at all!

To be honest Roger I would just like to see some kind of opposition because it's good for politics and democracy as much as competition in business is healthy and beneficial to the consumer....and you know what.....it just isn't happening. I am very disappointed and its obvious to me that he won't serve the full term. I am impressed however on how quickly billions of pounds can be found at a moment's notice from the Chancellor. Our boys down the road already have pretty much an open cheque book so my guess the regiment numbers are set to grow as will the helicopters which seem to be in a constant state of airborne deployment at the moment.

My understanding is that they acquired considerable amount of wealth prior to the start of their campaign from individuals residing in North Africa,Middle East,Indonesia, Russian Caucuses.These are very wealthy individuals with an axe to grind. Now it's oil from fields seized in occupied territory. Let's not forget slavery and quite possibly refugees. It's also quite possible that western backed funding for opposition groups have fallen into wrong hands.

Sadly,such an event is sure to happen here in the UK and our police & security services have already revised their methods for dealing with this after all ISIS aren't known for hostage negotiation! My concern and its my biggest concern is how quickly we can respond to such an incident and in what realistic numbers. I'm sure Roger can fill in the detail however should per say three teams of two/four individuals descending on Hereford High Street...How many armed response teams operate in the West Mercia Roger? Do you want to tell them chap? By the time suitable teams had arrived in number it would be to late. If such an event happens don't wait for some unarmed Bobby to make an appearance or our beloved regiment because they may have their hands full elsewhere. You hide, play dead or take the buggers on but don't look for compassion because they have none.

For some reason it's a very popular thing in this county to scratch out letters on road signage.

So I know that both parking and the OCM development are topics close to the hearts of many HV members so you will like this. Mrs Knight and I decided to use the covered parking at the OCM today because it was raining and we were off to the back row to watch Spectre. When we picked up the ticket driving into car park I made an observation and that was the registration number printed on our ticket, courtesy of the cameras, was an exact match....for the car just ahead of us!!! So not to find ourselves in any conflict during our exit later I tracked down the management suite who explained that this can happen on occasion. Enjoyed the film, the meal at Wildwoods and on leaving there was a moment's hesitation at the barrier and a voice from nowhere said ...That's ok he spoke us earlier...and we were gone. It's pays to cover your bases or the thing you sit on because it would have spoilt a good day out!

Trouble is it isn't unbelievable Rich.Just when you think you have gathered a fleet of ships flying the pennant of " openness, democratic accountability and positive change" the flags are dropped and the jolly Roger appears and the carving up of the spoils begins. Real change will come eventually but it's source won't derive from current council processes and it certainly won't be to everyone's liking.

That's it I have to ask Adrian ......is there a anything about your home county that grabs you. Nothing agrees with you yet if it makes you so unhappy why haven't you tried life elsewhere? I have never known anyone with so much negativity.

Oh right, lets get rid of all double yellow lines then. Not that it makes much difference, because people do seem to ignore them, even to the point of people parking on pavements or putting fork trucks on pavements as well. That's my point Adrian, they are ignored because resources are lacking. There is an easy example a short walk away at the blind college where the little primary school is located. The magic yellow line is present as is a pelican crossing and zig zags. Yet twice a day in term time they come, it's a free for all, parking/dropping off any where they like. Now this is just two short times frames every term time day yet has anyone seen enforcement here! Are you really going to stalk this location hell bent on targetting this junction where the majority are just "popping in " for a lotto ticket and fags!...good luck with that. Personally I would make it bloody difficult to park there and enforce the parking outside the school instead. Yellow lines won't stop this parking abuse but hard barriers might.. except of course the shop would have something to say about that! I've seen people on mobile phones in stationary traffic driving past the police station so sadly repeat offenders of all such mister meanest run with one law and that's "sods". It never works for them only you and me!

I have one...just one remains.It stands alone, brothers and sisters gone, the stick men soldier the street now. I like them, the light, their functional status. One of these privates throws a light across a young Eucalyptus Tree providing a vision of Christmas as the snowy leaves glisten at 2am. But the forgotten one is left casting an old fashioned light across its little corner like a portly old chap, slightly leaning in acknowledgement of its presence to the young bucks that now have control.

It's not perfect but I've lived in far far worse places.

...and another thing Pigeons, well they would not pitch up in any new trees as the Peregrines have done well this year and actually the gulls seem to be less. It,s also a small point but there is some respect around because it's been a few months since the mural went up around the bomb site and has it been defaced...no.

Hereford City has great potential and I'm sure this will not go unnoticed by those less blinkered. As for the property price for the building housing Costa well I think it's a good investment after all extensive works was carried out prior to occupation and you have a new sitting tenant paying 75K a year with two floors with potential. Cheltenham, Worcester and Gloucester have seen better days and personally I think Hereford is a blank canvass with a beautiful frame in the countryside that surrounds it! My wish is to see investment in the Green Dragon Hotel ...another fantastic opportunity in waiting.

I'd like to see more positivity please The other morning I walked into town and actually thought that the precinct area was looking tidier with less litter. Yes there is scaffolding up, but the site next to Costa is having some major work inside and out and will be open very soon (much of this work is being done by a local contractor)and yes it might just be that the days of the bomb site maybe coming to an end ....that's better than a year ago surely!! More shops are being filled that's a positive and yes the flipping kiddie ride is still there but that's only because I pay the guy to keep going because I know it winds Roger up. What do you think to "Rogers Rides"..I think it says something after all it goes round and around playing the same tune getting g on everyone,s nerves.(only kidding Rog). Here's another thing taxis...well I booked one today and it was very slick..The guys coming down the road and I receive a text confirming his arrival with the registration of the vehicle...slick I thought! More trees for me but no leaf blowers...

Herefordshire is a great place a beautiful place. I have not been here long enough to be a local but it reminds me of my true home as a child growing up when you could go out to play and be gone for hours and no-one would worry. Where with just a few strides a new adventure began with ya gang you seeketh out the biggest tree to climb or just walk for miles..last of the summer wine but from a child's eye I guess. You view, you wonder and wander but free to imagine without influence from the television or mobile phone. Do we still imagine today ..as a child there seems to be a need to fill a silence with music or text rather than just listen to our surroundings...there seems no time for that. My old home had a city wall, a cathedral and a river running through it. The history to me was constant...Hereford has a lovely old salvation army lass in her chair whereas I had an old boy selling newspapers by the buttercross, his mind gone he would shout out words which you could not audibly differentiate but new what they meant. This picture reminds me of the cricket pitch in St.Cross, Winchester so thanks for the images Colin.

They have been doing this in Wales for ages. Occasionally I have used the big Asda up on the top of the Heads of the Valley road near the Tydfil and I have never seen trouble at the check out! If there was to be a revolt and anarchy over such dastardly deeds it would be here at Merthyr where a few weeks ago I saw diesel at £1.08.
