The Viking Hoard Day, we were so excited to get this news out there about this great up and coming event

Such exciting news does not take long for others to catch on and spread the good word, anyone would start to think we are being stalked!

The fire service had some really challenging weeks over the summer this year, so we thought to would be nice to say 'Thank You For Your Service' (we've been saying this for sometime now, we like the way people in the Us say it to their armed forces).

Our thanks to the fire service didn't go unnoticed the following morning..

But the most rewarding element for us was when we had a sincere response back from HWFRS Fire Chief Jon Pryce

Old Hereford Pics (theme)

As we also have our Old Hereford Pics page which has been operating since 2008, we often share some wonderful old photographs from our archives, however, in recent years some local pages have also jumped on the bandwagon with their groups also promoting the same old picture theme.

Remember Chadds department store in Hereford? Who doesn't eh! Well we shared this old photo of one of their shopping bags..

Oh wow, I am not on Facebook but reading this little lot is shocking. You must have a strong legal case to take up here Colin?

I have read them all, but this one stands out to me, how immature, who actually runs their page? Signs of jealousy here, they may have a good following but obviously and sadly a lot of arrogance to go with it.

Hereford Voice have done a lot of good work locally over the years, I would let them continue with their clickbait material, people will soon see them for what they are and you have done well to call them out.

Here is a much more recent addition, yes we understand the some news will be published by many local outlets however on this occasion we thought that the illustration was quite amusing and somewhat confusing for some people! Hence our comments, which were clearly echoed by our shadow within their usual 13 minute window

It took just 11 minutes this time, our comments clearly triggered a similar reaction..

Jumping On The Bandwagon

Trial Turning Off Traffic Lights

Anyone that knows Colin from Hereford Voice will know that he has campaigned since before 2010 to trial turning off some of the traffic lights in the city using the catchphrase 'The Traffic Just Flows' when they are off..

Colin along with other local people including John Llewellyn-Perkins (sadly now passed away), Amanda Martin and John Harrington formed a group 'Hereford Lights Out' (now Hereford Transport Group) and even did a presentation to Hereford City Council back in 2011 kindly arranged back then by Cllr Jim Kenyon.

In October 2013 we had a follow up meeting (see this article) this time arranged by John Harrington (IOC) and with the full support of MP Jesse Norman. We were also joined by Martin Cassini (Martin Cassini is a TV programme-maker and campaigner for traffic system reform. He advocates replacing priority with equality to provide a level playing-field on which all road-users can act sociably) spoke very well and put his weight behind turning off all lights!

this is a popular debate and with that in mind and all the potential clicks guess who jumped on this bandwagon..

  • 1 month later...

I recent years Herefordshire like many other counties have experienced annual floods, well this is like a trigger, some people literally get super super excited about it and start posting endless pictures and even film themselves on live videos on Facebook with the actual floods in the background, it's almost like some sort of therapy especially for people who really seem to thrive on others misfortunes...

We try to limit our news articles and we often just update one topic, especially around road closures because there can be constant changes.

Unlike some, we do not proclaim to be any type of flood experts or journalists.

We have been supporting the local community and providing local news and events since before 2004. We have been working around the clock all week, trying our best to keep you all up to date with the latest road closures and events however, we're certainly not looking for a 'pat on the back' or any self self praise either.

So we though we would thank our followers..

So a new record beating the previous but one minute (new best time 26 minutes).

This flood update below 👇 we published expressing our support and relief for local residents and businesses, this was at 08:28hrs
