  1. Bobby ,a very well written article . It's to the point and true - thank you. I do also agree that a high proportion of the blame initially lies with the Senior Officers of this Council of course the Council Cabinet must take their share of responsibility , they give the impression that they treat the other Cllrs like growing mushrooms . Theses Cllrs must become more demanding.
  2. Stratford on Avon Fire Stn is located in Mason Rd , S on A , at least half a mile from the Town Centre , and not on a main road , so with Worcester ,that two Station located away from the City / Town centres, guess there must be more . Warwick do not have a Fire Station , their nearest is Leamington Spa , some 4 miles away along a very busy road .
  3. Cambo - well done . Megiland - and another well done . You researchers certainly know where to gleen the relevant information - hopefully the end result goes in our favour .
  4. Dippy , they are still advertising on their website for staff so I presume that they will open in ( near ) future . I was chatting to a young man a few weeks ago , he had been appointed to a position at the Restaurant. .
  5. I was being a bit flippant in my previous post - I have often wondered what happens if - for whatever reason - one has more recyclables than the green bin can hold ? Next month Mrs Ubique and I are holding a Curry Lunch at our home for my Veterans Association and going on past events my recycling bin becomes full of glass! What I have done previously is box all the bottles and wait until the Rubbish/Recycling Collection vehicle comes calling , I then help "Lofty " put then into the correct side of the vehicle . That is a simple answer because I do not work ( Retired ) Hopefully , Biomech will have an answer soon - I am sure one suggestion will be to take it to the Recycling Station at Rotherwas but that is not the most efficient answer ......?....
  6. I am sure , having walked in High Town that a number of residents / visitors to the City use the Wooden Horse ( film ) plan , ie. drop it down their trouser leg to dispose of the rubbish . It worked at the POW camp in Germany so they must presume that it should work in Herefordshire !
  7. Dippy , thank you for your update, I have just viewed their website, very interesting , I am sure that the researchers who have posted information relating to the Working Boys Home should , if they haven't done already , visit the site to ascertain if there is any benefit in involving them. The below has been copied and pasted from their site ...... http://www.savebritainsheritage.org/ 3 - If the building is no longer needed for its original purpose, could it be put to a new use? SAVE believes, and has proved time and time again, that all types of historic buildings can have a new lease of life through conversion, offering potential and exciting challenges for developers and architects. Some of the most imaginative and interesting places to work and visit are converted historic buildings. They have proved enormously successful in both commercial and aesthetic terms. Even if the building is in poor repair, modern building techniques are able to solve many structural problems that were deemed insoluble some years ago. Building conservation is inherently environmentally sustainable; it is a way of using existing resources for an end-product that is unique and irreplaceable. One more question you might ask yourself is: Is it Worth the Fight? If you feel that it will be too much of an uphill struggle to save a building, take heart from others' achievements. In the late 1970s, many of the cases SAVE was involved with caused ridicule amongst our critics. But the recognition since of the tremendous value of historic buildings of all types, the successful conversion of buildings for new uses and a public determination that history will not repeat itself in terms of the demolition and desecration that was then taking place, have inspired us - and many local amenity societies, preservation trusts, action groups and individuals - to carry on campaigning.
  8. Never been line dancing - after Bobbys description ,which must be true do not think I ever will . Having said that , I do hope that the people who do go on Monday will enjoy the evening .
  9. HWFire ✔ @HWFire Come to our event in #Hereford on May 14 and view plans for a replacement fire station. We'd like to hear your views http://ow.ly/wwsnG Retweeted by HerefordshireCouncil
  10. Aylestone Voice - that is a very good assessment of the King - well done .
  11. Bobby , you are wrong ! One must pay for the cans of Export , ....I am sure that Alex is giving advice about not paying for the Parking Ticket , if I'm wrong , it will not be the first time. - nor , I bet the last !
  12. I would suggest that this has been going on for years , probably since Sgt Dixon was on the Front Desk - the PC who attended the"crime" did not "Crime" the incident because they did not want to upset the Detective Sgt who would suggest a number of reasons why they should not issue a Crime Number for the incident . Lost Property - false insurance claim - never happened - the list is endless...
  13. Tell the Public what you are going to do - do it - then tell your adoring public what you have done for the benefit of them . Stinks - this Consulant Period costs money - for what - as has been said before - it's tablets of stone . I have firm belief that nothing will change - the Authorities honestly believe that we are so lacking in intelligence that they can say anything which we , the masses will believe. Think that they are in for a shock when we ( the retired of this City ) start sitting on the roof of the Working Boys Home prior to their apparent vandalism of the building. Never protested in my long life before but I am looking forward to this one - and my 15 minutes of fame , hopefully the weather is better than now. At my age I am not worried about employment , signing on or anything else other than me and Mrs Ubique - happy days. Hopefully Bobby will hold the ladder and Mrs Ubique and dippyhippy will bring us supplies.
  14. Bobby said The whole things a dog and I ain't going. Never! Im a High Town man and I refuse not to be a High Town man. ....... Bobby, I would rather you used another word rather than dog - when my rescue Golden Retriever called Charlie read your post he was quite annoyed and upset , in fact it's only his excitement at celebrating his 4th birthday tomorrow that stopped him from running down Commercial Road to a well know hostelry to sort you out.
  15. From the Coventry Evening News ...........must be the in thing with the Fire and Rescue Service........... Members of the public will be able to give their views on the future of Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service as it looks to save £1.3million over the next two years. The service will hold a series of roadshows in towns over the next few weeks. It says it wants to introduce new ways of working to reflect peak demand from the public in order to achieve the savings. The first roadshow takes place on Tuesday at the Royal Priors Shopping Centre in Leamington, with further dates at the Ropewalk Shopping centre in Nuneaton on May 14 and Clock Towers Shopping Centre in Rugby on May 15, all from 10am to 2pm. Coun Les Caborn said: “Demand has changed and the types of incidents the service attends have changed so we need to position the service to give the best response within the resources we have available.â€
  16. Bobby , I do not know this lady , but from what you say , unsolicited , is that she is a remarkable lady who must truly love her "job" , actually from what you say it's not a "job " to her , but it's more than that - it's apparent that she sees it as her calling - helping others , less able that a lot of us in Society. Others in her position in all walks of life go to work for the salary ,nothing more , nothing less , and as long as they toe the line they will vp continue to get paid , a few like this lady go that extra mile for the benefit of the people under her care. Mrs Bailey , on behalf of the Public who do not know you or probably will never meet you all we can say is a big thank you. What you do must be a great relief to both the Parents and Carers who put their trust in you to care for their children whilst in your care.
  17. Thank you Aylestone Voice for this information , just hope that the bus drivers turn their engines off whilst parked outside the Shire Hall during the Flag Raising Ceremony this year.
  18. UKIP will have my vote - the result will / may get the Political Parties thinking that they are not living in the real world and do something about it - ie speak to us peasants at grass roots .
  19. My Brother in Law took his two grandchildren , 7 and 10 to the Odeon the other day , cost £19 entry followed by two medium size cups of pop corns £9 . Appears to be a lot of money , I presume that the new cinema 's charges will be similar .
  20. Well done Hereford United , now have a rest and then start planning - big time for the start of the next season.
  21. If it's true and there is no alternative provided I suggest that the Doctors and Health Care providers will be up in arms .
  22. Just amazes me that this person was granted Bail ( I presume because of Govt guidelines ) next appearance in Court is in the second week of August . How can that be justice for both the Victim and the alledged offender. Many years ago I was on Military Town Patrol supporting the local Constabulary whilst my regiment were on exercise on the Brecon Beacons, a young lad from my Regiment who was off duty smashed the window of the Fish and Chip shop , he then went onto kick the rear window out of the Police Landrover . It was agreed that the Military would deal with him. By 2pm the next day the Fish and Chip shop owner and the Police had been paid for the damage caused and the offender spent 14 days in the Guardroom . Ah , those were the days !
  23. I have used the ASDA Medical Centre a number of times over the past few years for wasp / bee stings which I react to . By coincidence it's alway been over the weekends or at a time when my Doctor Surgery is unable to see me for a couple of days. The reception , the help and assistance I have received by the Staff at this medical centre has been second to none . Better I might add that the Service I receive at my own Doctors Surgery .
  24. I do believe most strongly that this Council rely on National and Local Charities to help the less fortunate in this County rather than dipping into their own purse to help the homeless and the hungary. I could go on but best leave it at that.
