  1. Just my thought for the day - it's apparent that Police Officers or retired Police Officer read and post here - I am sure that all Posters would like to see a West Mercia Police Press Release on the success or otherwise of this initiative in due course . Will not hold my breath .
  2. Bobby ,you are not on your own with your thoughts - whilst , I think , we all want to help people who are willing to be helped there is always going to be those who choose , for whatever reason not to want help / assistance / guidance etc. So I agree with most you say. I believe that after the inital publicity the Police and some of the "partner agency's " will move on to another initiative . Drunkeness and anti social behaviour is as old as the oldest profession and will never be solved - it will soon be down the order of priority. I strongly believe that the agency's , Police / Trading Stzndards etc should sort out the shops and other premises selling untaxed/no VAT paid liquor and cigarettes - it's apparent from these comments that the general public know who they are . As an aside , ( May have been already said ) interesting that this Operation was apparently initiated after the Post appeared in the Hereford Voice.
  3. supermel says... From supermel who posted a comment on the HT Hereford police i feel sick, you had a 999 call to my son last month, he had been assaulted, none of you responded to that call and the one that done it was there, your going to get drug addicts help , well how about helping me to solve this crime as i am having difficulty living with what has happened ,my son has lost all feeling in one side of his face , and had 3 fractures, how about speeding up your enquiries and bringing the pig that did this to my son to justice ,then help druggies and drunks as much as you wish, this happened in a Hereford pub unprovoked attack and this is the second attack that i know of as one was in this paper last week, and all i want is to see justice done, never mind druggies and drunks you need to concentrate on the despicable crimes like this that are becoming more popular in Hereford , put extra man power into helping us law abiding citizens go out without living in fear, the response from the police for that night was we were busy ,well how come , extra man power to get druggies help, and arrest drunks, from a very sad mother,
  4. Re the title - Short answer - with difficulty !
  5. The Crime Reporting System doesn't appear to be very efficient - thinking that if , as you say it swims around the computer system and eventually is allocated to an Investigator sometime after the incident occurred is , to my mind poor service - I accept fully that some reported crimes will never be detected so should not be investigated , only recorded for Insurance purposes. Others like this one could be detected if publicity is circulated as soon after the crime has been committed as is possible . 6 youths but it appears only one was the offender so perhaps one of the other 5 will have a conscience and phone Crimestoppers etc. Since three weeks have passed it would have been forgotten by this group as well as by anybody who suspected that this group had been " involved in an assault " I am aware that " in the old days " a local Reporter would attend a Press Conference t about 0930 each weekday and be briefed by the Duty Insp or Sgt on the previous 24 hours . ( I accept that some incidents were not releases for operational reasons ) . It appears that these meetings have stopped .
  6. Do wonder why it takes 3 weeks before the West Mercia Police make a public appeal - May be a very good reason but it's not the first time that Press releases/ appeals are made weeks after the incident.
  7. Couldn't agree more - as has been said many times on this post - these people need help and guidance . I was interested to see that Roger drove past these two , observed that one was in an apparent drunken stupef and did nothing - Roger more than most ( as an apparent retired Police Officer ) knows the responsibilities of the Custody Staff towards an apparent drunken person under their care. All Roger had to do was phone the Police Stn and ". Pass the responsibility to the Police " to check these two out.

    Neighbours

I am also very fortunate - my neighbours are 200 yards away so when Meat Loafis belting out as he must I am not really bothered. Must be a nightmare when you do not get on with your neighbours.
  9. Whilst I believe that its commendable the Police Officers collecting up the rubbish left by these people - it is NOT the answer . You cannot expect the Police to do it every day , or even twice a day . If the persons responsible for leaving the rubbish see the Police tidying up after them it brings the Police into disrespect or a confrontational situation - the Custody Sgt will not want them brought to his Custody Unit so a FP ticket will be issued .........and life goes on, will not pay ....Court appearance etc..........
  10. From Dippy ( and others ) Whatever the cause, they all deserve some help and support, on whatever level they are prepared to accept it. These people are in a dark place - they put themselves in that position but I am sure that they would rather be out of it and living a near normal life . To allow them to gather at a location for their anti social behaviour is wrong - we have all noticed that for whatever reason "gathering points " are springing up in the City centre - a favourite one is the bench outside All Saints Church ( I accept that it's also uses by people waiting for Boots to open so that they can collect their Methodone ). What my suggestion is would probably encroach onto their Human Rights - each day they should be collected up , taken to a place of safety , allowed to clean up , given food but no alcohol , sorted out / treated for any medicial problems / reunited with relatives and helped to resume an acceptable live style . I know that it will take time and money but " they " have tried everything else and with due respect - appeared to have failed .
  11. Perhaps there is a cunning plan to locate the Council Customer Service Team there?
  12. Bobby -read your post twice to ensure that with my experience in a past life I could either agree or disagree with you. Perhaps some are thinking that my mind should have been made up a long time ago - it was not. Because I never thought that the day would come when if happened. I agree with you Bobby , We all know that in Afgan there have been and still are female combat medics doing a wonderful , brave and courageous job, there is many a Squaddie who was not concerned who treated him as long as he was treated . The brave members of the ArmedForces who are on board the MERT Chinooks are both male and female. But Front Line......... My thoughts now are that Bobby is right and will be until I am convinced differently.
  13. Walked past this location at 0905 yesterday and noticed that a lady was having the unenverable task of picking up all the beer cans etc from amongst the bushes on the forecourt of the Church - appears that the users of this area do not want to put their rubbish in the rubbish bin provided.
  14. Bobby-I have to say that to describe what you might consider doing to hedgehogs has not really impressed Mrs Ubique , she has great difficulty putting a syringe full of live saving substance into a baby hedgehog .!
  15. Or an exclusive scoop - or even worse , they see it as a " no story "
  16. I emailed the HT 4 hours ago re this story - no reply - they are probably keeping it for an exclusive story on Thursday . Thought that a new Editor would be more switched on with the latest local news / stories . The BBC H and W story is damming to this Council.
  17. Dippy, you are so right it's the definition. " vulnerable women" He took advantage of a " vulnerable person " I am sure that if it was a non vulnerable woman he woukd have got his hand slapped by a Senior Officer , ( as woukd happen in many walks of life ) .
  18. I know not a lot about the present Education system but the information in the comments must be / should be of concern to Cllrs who have responsible for education , Parents of children who will be attending this school should be wondering if they have/ are making the right choice . it also appears to be a worthwhile story for our local paper to follow . Education must form the backbone of our Society - they are , after all , the next generation - so it must be the best we can get.
  19. Is it best to work out a password or will Aylestone Voice be standing on the steps of the Shire Hall with a megaphone or selling the Aylestone Voice in the corridor. I will be as per my name !
  20. Dippy , do not worry about the carnation, it's one of those joke ones that we had many years ago which squirt water at the admirer.
  21. I will be there wearing a red carnation in my button hole ( if they are in season ) and carrying a rolled copy of the Daily Telegraph , probably yesterday's from the recycling bin , I am sure that Aylestone Voice will give you a clue !
  22. SSAFA Desk at the Shire Hall. Sticky bun would be super .
