  1. LOL, I hate these vouchers, I have got some that says I have saved a penny off my shopping, oh wow. or a voucher to say I have 5p off my shopping the next time I shop because my shopping was more expensive than another shop.; I am sure a whole forest must be used each month for these vouchers. i just want to get my shopping and go, I can not even be bothered with these loyalty cards. I have never got a yellow voucher from Morrisons, but then I only shop there now and again. I do get asked if I got a match and more card what ever that is.
  2. Who is he? I don't use twitter, but thanks Not that bothered really, just wondered that is all. News letter cost money, which is why the council got rid of theirs.
  3. We have a local PC? The only time I see one is in there cars, Don't even see the pretend ones up here any more.
  4. LOL, Why do south get a news letter and we don't northside?
  5. Really? We only got the bags in a couple of days ago, maybe he got mixed up. i only know a couple of people in the Garage and I know for sure they would not do it. i will ask about that tomorrow at work if I remember. At our place they are going to put the bags in a box under the machines and you take what you want and I think you either scan them as they will have a bar code or you just enter the amount you have got. My words was, yep that will work, not. But remember, if anyone decided that they was not going to pay for their bag and not bother to scan it and get found out, that is theft, is it really worth it for 5p?
  6. I hope people realise that is is law and not done by the supermarkets to make money, in fact it is the government who will benefit from this, as that 5p includes VAT. So people, do not complain to stores or blame the checkout operator as they can not do anything about it, in fact giving a free bag will be against the law. Sainsburys 5p bags will be bags for life, they are a bit thicker than the single use bags, but the same size. So bring the bag bag when it wears out and you will get a new one. So single use bags in Sainsburys will be no more. I know this because I work there. I don't know what the other supermarkets are doing, but I don't think any other supermarket are doing bags for life for 5p. I think it is a good thing to be honest, too many people wanting a bag for a news paper or for one small item, also the English law for bags is not as strict as in Wales and Scotland. People will get used to it.
  7. Until there is some trouble there and then the police will want it to stop. As far as I remember that is the reason the council refused these early morning opening in the first place.
  8. The Truffle Market? I first thought that was a market that sold Truffles :) Then I read a bit further, I did not know the Truffle existed any more, I have not seen anything advertised about it for a couple of years now. I must admit I did not think having the retail market in high town was a good idea when the idea first came about, now I like the idea. Saying that I do think that when they have too many different markets at the same time like the Saturday retail and the farmers market the stalls make the centre a bit too crowded.
  9. I can understand their frustration, going by some chippies in this town, sorry City
  10. I just watched it on catch up, nothing surprises me. Give people a uniform and this is what you get, I do agree that some people parks where they like and double yellow lines seems to be the sign to park on the pavement.
  11. I kind of agree what you are getting at, knowing someone owns a business in the Bid area and they voted against the bid and yet still have to pay what you call a Secondary tax, Not just retail that have to pay it, all business in the area do unless they are exempt due to the rateable value of the premises being less than £7500 I think. This person I know is just above that threshold. Not a large business but they are thinking now of moving offices. I don't know what can be done if business refuse to pay the levy it, surly it can't be law to pay it. I do agree that all the cleaning should be done from the money that the council gets from business rates and council tax, we pay enough of it after all and yet get less every year. I also look on the other side, it is nice to see the city centre being cleaned up, and that machine should help and make things easier, the old barrow and broom is out out of date and would take a lot longer to clean up, so someone have to be paid longer to clean up when they could be doing something else. I still have my doubts about Bid , these organisations normally get the same people on the board year after year making decisions that affect other people and these other people get little say in it, normally the little people. It is all very well sticking a few posters in empty shops, all that proves is that we got empty shops, but things need sorting, like the cracked paths that the council put in with the lettering in high town. Get rid of those stupid posts outside the market hall, awful things, should never have been put up in the first place. i know Bid had nothing to do with them, just thought I point it out that they are awful. So who is paying for our Christmas Decs this year and are they going to be better than last year? We will wait and see if this Bid thing makes a difference or is just a waste of time.
  12. I thought the Belmont store did better than the city centre store, it is a nicer place to shop, not that I have been there for a while. Unless Asda is making hell of a difference to Belmont store and I can not see it myself, I can not see the Belmont store closing. People from out in the country that way would use Tesco belmont as it saves waiting in the traffic to get into town.
  13. I agree with you about waiting for the next day, i know some people got busy lives, but then so did my parents and my mum used to have to go shopping using a bus to get there and back, do house work and then go to work in the evening. The shops only opened 9-5 and certainly did not open on a Sunday. I know of someone who lives virtually next door to a supermarket and yet have online delivery from that supermarket, there is nothing wrong with them, and they do not work. People are getting lazy Unless Tesco is getting rid of their night shift, I doubt anyone will lose their jobs as they would still be required to stock the shelves. No security needed after the store close so that will save money also no need for so many lights, checkouts can be closed down, it all save money.
  14. I do not have a green bin, a bin is not going to fit under my sink, no matter how much I try, too many pipes, only just about get washing powder and other cleaning stuff under there. I know of someone who had a waste disposal unit, but they had so many problems with it the Housing association removed it in the end. i did look into it once a few years back, but since this place is rented I thought the cost was a bit much.
  15. Wow, must have been a problem with a server or communication line somewhere.
  16. The main store in town closes at 12, so if the Belmont one is going to close at 12 then that means none of them will open after 12 midnight. So the only store in Hereford that will open 24 hours is Asda.
  17. While I do not drive and have never been in the old Market carpark and only been to the old market itself once, not sorry twice, I did think it would be strange just to have one machine which in what looks like a pretty large carpark. I still think it is stupid not to have cash machines and the reason the council gives for refusing the planning permission, just shows that they should give up, retire and get out of politics. I bet there are cash machines in any other shopping centre. even one in Maylords now thanks to Wilko and one by the Butter Market.
  18. I know people who lives in places where they say recycling is over the top and too many containers and no where to put them. I admit that our system is easier. I do not have green bin, so it would mean a plastic bag loose in the back or front of the house, blowing around.
  19. I tend to stay out of immigration topics these days as it gets me in trouble, because a lot of people only see one side and that is it, only have to look at what is happening with the migrants coming into Europe and people going crazy after the video of the child that had drowned.
  20. The one problem is space, I would need to bins in my kitchen, and there is only just room for one. The fact that we are paying more to this council in council tax and yet getting less from it, like now fortnightly rubbish collections and yet they still want us to sort out the rubbish. Next they will want us to sweep the roads and cut the grass, oh wait, that is already happening. I also do not take kindly being told what to do by Eurocrats stuck in another country, it is because of E.U laws that our our council is scared to tip rubbish into landfill. Soon the rubbish will be burnt, so problem solved. The council can go and whistle for their recycling, if they want me to recycle, they can do it for me.
  21. Living alone I generate little waste most of the time. If I recycled, it would have half empty bags hanging around. If people want to do it then that is up to them, no law to say we have to. Fed up of people judging me for it, not on here but in other places. I wonder how many of these people drive, with their fumes blasting us or go on Holiday by plane once or more per year with all the fumes that those planes put out. I don't do either.
  22. The old Harp was mine, now called the Herdsman, I went in the dinner time when I was at college and me and my mates used to play on the pinball machine. I do not like pubs with loud music or TV in them, I go to a pub to have a drink and chat with mates, not to watch some over paid men kicking a ball around a field.
  23. Yep, The prices are no more than Frankie and Benny or Nandos or any of the other chain restaurants in the old Market and yet people seem to pay for them. It is all about name, if it got a brand name people will buy it, no matter what the price is or what the quality is like. Going to The rule of Tum tomorrow evening, to get a proper burger.
  24. i blame the old Market and people going to glorified fast food restaurants like F and B
