  1. Had a letter shove through my door from Eon, syaing they are going to replace our lamposts. so that means we will have those awful waste of space LED rubbish things. i thought our council had no money and yet can afford toi do things like this.
  2. So another city building snapped up by a private buyer, Great, just what we need.
  3. I am a little confused, I know it don't take much. Where is the money coming from to refurnish the Butter Market, also who will the Butter Market belong to after the refurbishment? I may be wrong, but it sounds like it is going into private hands.
  4. But this is typical of Hereford, people will not bother and just let things happen. After all, they did vote the Tories back in, so they are not that bothered the way the city is going.
  5. It was interesting, I never realised Tony Johnson was there and I was standing next to where he was sitting., Show he is not very recognisable :)
  6. One of the times was when Alan still owned it and I think it was a about 18 months again and thought it was no better. Saying that, they were not the only ones that was not that good. I wonder how a few chippies keep going to be honest Been there for a long time, so it must have done ok in the past, I would not be surprised if business did not help. The whole of that part of town needs a good tidy up and a lick of paint to be honest.
  7. so you could say Goodbye Mr Chips Not that I have had chips from there for a while, over the years they have never been that good.
  8. Hereford united is a different thing to be honest and as lot of people did not support the team, which is why Hereford United do not exist any more. While my interest in Football is zero, I do hope that people will support the new club and it does well. Maybe the not agreeing with it being built is too strong,. I did not agree with them taking all the shops out of the city centre, more or less killing it off. I am not against redevelopment, but I feel that the old Market could have been so much more than a few chain stores and a load of restaurants. A nice ice rink would have done well there instead of people having to go to another city. As for the cinema, we needed a new one, not so sure if we needed ones so big, I think they are going to struggle to make it pay. TBH, I haver not been to any cinema for over 10 years, maybe longer, and while I said about starwars, I may wait until it is on Blue-ray anyway. I know the old market is local jobs, but no point in me going there if there is nothing for me, I know a few people who have not been there and have no intention of going there for different reasons. I do not go into every shop in the city centre, why? because some shops got nothing I am interested in.
  9. I will have a peek if it ever takes off. As for internet radio, signal wise can be iffy in different places, Even up here on the College Est, 3G on my vodafone can change, sometimes it is good, other times it is awful. EE up here is a waste of time. The other problem is cost, I pay £13 a month, sim only contract and for that I get 720MB of data, 300 minutes of any network talk time, and a certain amount of Vodafone to vodafone on top of that and unlimited text. I know people who get less than that. I know prices have gone down and giff gaff for instance offer good packages, but getting unlimited data for a good price is still not here yet. FM is still a better system even if it is years old.
  10. I never agreed with it being built in the first place, so why would I support it?
  11. Nothing there for me, I am very fussy with what I eat, in that I do not eat much meat, I certainly do not eat steak. I can not see myself going in any of the restaurants in the Old Market to be honest. TBH, I do not see myself going over to the old Market again anyway. Oh I may go to the cinema for Star wars, or may wait until it comes onto Blue-ray. I see the old farmers club may become a Loungers, sounds as exciting as the ones they have in the old market, that sort of price range as well.
  12. The problem here is that we already got three localish stations and radio listening figures have reduced a lot over the years. i listen to Sunshine myself, certainly better than the Beebs offering and free Radio. Another problem is DAB, it is awful, this new station will use as little bandwidth as they can get away with and we have many station at around 80Kbps, the local stations at the moment is around the 112 to 128, but Dab is old technology that is not as good as good old FM. I kind of agree with Roger about internet radio, but no good on the move at the moment, I have a DAB/FM radio, but I do not listen to DAB stations any more, the sound quality is not there
  13. Out of my price range, there is no way I could justify a tenner on a pizza even if I liked Pizza. Maybe I am a bit old fashioned and I prefer one of the older style cafes, the few we have left. I do go into spoons now and again and that is about it for the chain resturants. I have not even been into McDonalds for 30 years, sadly that is going to change as I promised a friend I will go in there with her as soon as I can taste food again. Do i really need to be able to taste food with MD? I do use the odd coffee bar, normally the coffee cart outside the Butter Market , but Neros as well. When I get a chance I go to Diagos in Bridge street, now that is good coffee and roasted in Ross on Wye. I suppose to even use a restaurant in the Old Market I have to go there, still only been there the once, but then I know of people who still have not been anywhere near it.
  14. I do not think it will make a scrap of difference to the traffic, it will just move the traffic from Barrs court road and dump it onto Edgar street. I am so glad I do not drive, but it does get annoying when I have to take the bus and wait for ages in the traffic. Worse in a taxi.
  15. People must have plenty of money, even a pizza in that place is £9,
  16. and the council to do not care as long as they get yet another road to nowhere built.,
  17. Agree, saying that if you go any faster on the roads up here you end up with something broken, the roads are awful around here. Been waiting for double yellows for a while now, but as been said it may be difficult to enforce.
  18. A order have been put in to have Double yellows by the co-op, about time as well. It is a accident waiting to happen and I am surprised that we have not had one yet, or maybe have.
  19. Just to put you right, the supermarket I work at do not have 3 month old dough. The bread and rolls are made fresh on the day from flour that is delivered every day. The only bread that is not produced on site is Organic and that is frozen when it comes in. Now that is over with, I have seen the notices about bread being sold at All saints, there is also someone on the retail market that sells lovely bread, not that I have managed to get any yet, but my mate have and I eat it when I am at his place. I will get some bread from All saints at some point, I do not eat much bread at the moment due to health problem and the lack of taste. Once that is sorted I will buy some nice bread. I do go into some chain restaurants, like Wetherspoons a few days back and Nero. Mcdonalds I have not been in for 30 years, but I have to break that soon as I promised a friend I will go in there with here. Me and my big mouth. I had a pop into Tiffanys today in the butter market, it was ok, never been in there before. Places like Frankie and benny, Zizzi, Chimichanga, wagamama, Prezzo and Nandos just don't do anything for me. Just glorified fast food restaurants. It is not because their are chain stores.
  20. I work in a supermarket myself, so I do support some chain stores, but even working in a supermarket I still prefer to get stuff from small local shops. As i said, there is nothing in the OLM to get me to shop there.
  21. I know i missed it this year. I meant to have put hopefully I will be able to go next year. i have no idea why I missed that part out
  22. Done my voting, too a while to think about who to vote for, Local was easy, IOC, the GE was not so easy, it was between UKIP and Greens, i know different sides of the spectrum, but it was better than voting for the big three. The Greens won, not that it is going to make any difference.
