  1. Same here Same here and i have a postal vote, forgot to put it back to normal and I still can not be bothered to pick up a pen, tick a box and post it. We don't need the PCC and I agree with Roger, jobs for mates, but then that is country wide is it not?
  2. Butchers piccy looks good, I also like their sausage rolls, really nice. i have not been in the queens Arms for years, not sure if it was still opened uintil I went down that last week, I do not go down broad street very often.
  3. With the risk of being told that I am a bundle of joy, I can honestly say I have noticed no difference in the water than it was last week, the week before, last year or for the last 10 years. As the water around here have never tasted right until I filtered it. Before anyone says anything I am not the only one who noticed, a friend of mine who comes up here also think our water do not taste nice until it is filtered, she noticed once when I did not filer it. I have no idea what Welsh Water is doing at Barrs court road, but I do not think it will make a difference to the water.
  4. Do a bit of research before shouting utter rubbish. some dogs have had abnormal cells where the chip is as the body reacts to it and in turn causes cancer. Granted it have only happened to a few dogs, still not sure if I would take the chance. Never see Dog wardens around and can the RSPCA dog wardens legally do anything? There will be a load of dogs that are not chipped, it will be almost impossible to police and expensive., just like the old dog licence was. It still not going to stop people watching their dog mess on the floor and leave it.
  5. If I had a dog there is no way I would get it microchipped, i would prefer to take the risk of getting fined, which is pretty slim because your dog cause a problem. who is going to check? There is no one to check i do not think we have dog wardens any more. The reason I would not have it chipped is because there have been claims that the chip can cause cancer.
  6. My sister was saying that a lot of the mess looks like it is from the building development. I do a fair bit of walking as I do not drive and there is litter everywhere and not just little bits, Baysham street which I walk down to see my Dad have had a old bit of the Potting shed sign stuck there for weeks. Just shows how often we get street cleaners now. Then the council have a cheek to want more money from us. This clean for the queen stuff is just an excuse to get the public to do what this useless council should sort out. Saying all of that, a lot of the rubbish is from people just chucking it down, but then there are very few bins these days, not that it is really a excuse, but some people do not want to carry a empty tin or bottle for that long. the other problem is bin bags that are not tied, i make sure mine is tied, the only problem is we sometimes get a dog around here who loves having a go at the bags. Only going to get worse.
  7. My local chippy closes at 9pm as well. It depends if they think they will get enough customers after 9pm to make ti worth while opening. The Oceans chippy in St Owen street don't open until early evening and closes at 9pm, apart from Friday and Saturdays where they close at 10pm. I normally use the chippy in Widemarsh street the odd time I have chips from a chippy. Prefer to make my own in the Air fryer.
  8. David Attenbrough. yeah good stuff, about the only few things that is good that comes from the BBC these days. There was talk about changing the the TV licence to a media tax, where we all pay it even if we don't watch or have a TV, which I think is a bit unfair, they got one in Germany, and was going to have one in Ireland, but it have been put off for some reason. A lot of people gets the wrong info about the TV licence, I was told by someone a couple of years ago that because I have a computer I had to have a TV licence. I watch very little TV to be honest, normally Netflix or Sky now. There was some talk of the news channel going online, but I don't think that is going to happen at the moment. You are right in that the government want to destroy the BBC or what is left of it anyway and if people want to support the BBc then all well and good, I just think there needs to be a different way.
  9. What time do the cafe open till? we did go pretty late and as i said it looked in darkness. I lived south side for around 34 years, I lived in Redhill in my childhood and some of my adult life,, my sister and my brother still live there, my DAd only moved from there a couple of years back. So no it is not snobbish. i just have no reason to go to that side of the city. I live North of the river and work north of the river and my mates and friends live this side, and my Dad does now. If I had a reason to go south side then I would.
  10. Not sure what you are saying here, a licence is paid to watch TV as it is being broadcast. that includes any TV channel including ITV, Sky one or any other channel that is being transmitted live, be it over the internet,. satellite or terrestrial. The fact that the TV licence supports the BBc is a different thing. If you watch any of the BBC TV channels via freeview, Sky, Freesat or live on Iplayer you need a TV licence, the only channel that is going to go online only is BBC3. I am not sure what they are doing to BBC3 online, if it will still be like it is now but online or be like a catch up service. You can view any catch up service without a TV licence, in fact I went for 3 years without one and only got one last year because I was home a lot, but once my TV licence comes to the end again in the next couple of months I will not be renewing it. My view on the BBC is that it is a antique, out of date and that the TV licence should be abolished and the BBC should either go subscription of adverts, or both.
  11. Someone told me a while back that it had closed, that was a few years back. I tend not to go south side too often and if I do it is no where near Tescos. Saying that I did go last year with my neighbour as they took me there to do my shopping as I was still recovering from a Op. I did not notice if the cafe was opened or not as it looked dark in there.
  12. I have two Philips LEd bulbs, not that they are really bulbs these days, but we will still use that word. Both are 9watts, 800 lumen or there about and supposed to be equivalent to a 60watt bulb. I have no idea if they are COB or SMD as it don't say in the specs. Unless I take the bulb apart I would not be able to see. I do know the difference between the technologies, but it seems that people on here can not even agree what is best and some so called experts can not agree either. I need a good bulb for reading and LED do not do it unless I spend £15-£20 on a bulb and even then I am not sure if it will be any good. I have halogen reading light on a stand which I do use. The problem is if the industry can not make up their mind which technology is best, then joe public is screwed and how do they know what bulbs have got what technology in anyway? I am also fed up of our government being controlled by the EU and being told what I can't and can't do by some unelected Eurocrats stuck in another country. I will use what bulbs I want, I will use my gas and electric as I see fit and not have some silly smart meter to say I am using too much, I will chuck my rubbish in a black bag, I pay enough in council tax, so if they want it sorted, get the twits who are in office to sort it. Fed up of all this green stuff, we should not do this, we should not do that.
  13. I agree with you. I hope I was a good patient, i tried not to bother the staff unless I really had to, not like someone else on the ward that wanted the staff even to move things on their table. I do know that when I woke up from the operation I wanted to get off the trolley, i was told that by a nurse, all i remember from that is me saying I am hot. i woke up again in my bed with a fan blowing nice cool air onto me. I am not denying that some things need to be improved and some people have had a bad experience with the NHS, I do think that some of these are not the front line staff fault. Look at A&E, people still go down there for minor things, which can be dealt with by their GP or at one of the walk in centres, I also have to say the Macmillan Renton suit is a godsend and the staff is great. I hope you have recovered from your op and good health to you.
  14. I thought their cafe closed down years ago,
  15. After having a major operation 16 months ago and chemo after that, I have very little bad to say about the hospital or the NHS. I was treated with dignity and respect at all times. Maybe i was lucky int he way I was treated, but I don't think so. The hospital went into special measures just before I went in for the operation, yes it did go through my mind at the time. My only minor complaint is sometimes I was kept waiting for a while longer than I would have liked at appointments.
  16. You can get what they call rough cut Incandescent bulbs, they are made really for industrial use, but they work fine in the home. i have still got a load of Incandescent bulbs both 60 and 100Watt that I got a few years back when I knew that our government was going to bend over to the EU and do what they tell us to do as normal. So they will last a few years. The LED ones are fine for the downstairs loo and stairs where you don't need a great source of light. I don't
  17. Just stick with Incandescent bulbs, they worked fine for years and will carry on working, I do not go into all this green rubbish, My Tv uses more power than my bulbs at 300Watts, not that I use it that much.
  18. And this is why you get the same people posting on here and very few new ones. I know a few people who could add a lot to this board, one that does a fair bit of campaigning for things that he see as wrong for Hereford, including the link road and yet they stay clear of this board. I wonder why?
  19. Well going by the amount of comments on Facxebook when Hereford Voice posted the picture on there, it seems like a lot of people do not like these lights. I do not see what this is thing is with LED lights, people using them at home as well and yet they are to be honest useless. i got a couple for my house, one is now in the hall and the other is in the downstairs loo, gone back to the old traditional Incandescent bulbs for my computer room and living room. Much easier to read with.
  20. I would be the first to moan if it all ends up closed would I, so why would that be? I walk past it when I come into town, I have no interest in going in there at all, it annoyed me that a pedestrian crossing was taken away, which means I have to cross two roads instead of the one I used to cross. It has been there for over a year now and all I been in is Vodafone, twice, with a mate, Waitrose with another mate a few weeks after it opened, once, Frankie and benny's just before Christmas, not my choice and the cinema again just before Christmas. I may go to the cinema again, but the rest of the centre I am not bothered about. So if it closes it is not going to bother me, also let see how long these shops stay open once the cheap rents and rates are over. The only problem is that people will lose their jobs. As for costa, I do not like their coffee, out of the large companies Nero is one of the better ones, I did go into the new Costa in High town once. As I said I try to support local, even to buying coffee I use at home, from James Gourmet in Ross on wye.
  21. A private venture maybe, but one that Hereford council sold out cheap too, but it don't matter that it cost us the tax payer millions, well it seems like it don't. I have never trusted politicians and what have happened over the years, not just in Hereford proves that I am right.
  22. Not a shock to be honest, I use amazon now and again, I know some people won't use it because they do not pay as much tax as they should, but that is the government fault, not Amazon. The only problem with Amazon is that if you send too many items back they can and do cancel your account. But they are quick to replace items. I try to use Ebay if I can. The one problem with buying online is that you have to be at home for the items.
  23. Sadly Roger is right, unless you want a hair cut or something that you can't get on-line there is very little reason to go into town. Last week I got myself a vented umbrella off Ebay, the type that is supposed to be wind proof. Can I get one in Hereford? I doubt it and if I did I would be paying a lot more than what I paid and to be honest, I have not got the initiative to go looking around all the places in Hereford that may or may not have one. I know shops have overheads and they are bound to be more expensive than going online, but a lot of the time they are way over the top. I like to support local if I can, I will go to a butcher now and again and I like to get my cheese from a stall in the butter market, but even with our new multi-million-pound shopping centre, there is very little here above the normal food and clothes. Go into the new market and you are faced with a load of restaurants, some shops that sell clothes, a shop or two that sell, well I am not sure what they sell, Shops like Tiger and Sea salt. then a lot of the other shops was in the main city centre. People on here know my views on the new market, or most do anyway, but I will say it again. I am not against it being built, never have been, something had to be done with the old Market ground. What I was against is the lying and way things was done, including taking the shops from the old city centre, which we were told would not happen. In the old centre we seem to be having more coffee shops, I love coffee, but even I think there is maybe too many now and the latest one is right next to one which I support as it is local and yet more tables and chairs out on the street. don't get me wrong, I like this being outside thing, Hereford was stuck in the past for so long not allowing it, but maybe now there is too much on the streets. Hairdressers and barbers seem to be also having a good time as we have had a fair few open over the last 12 months or so. We are also having more restaurants, how many do we need? It is sad to see Hereford like this, with empty shops and very little choice unless you want to eat and have your hair cut. Hereford I used to know have gone, I really used to like Hereford, but now it is just for the retired. No doubt this post will get a load of down votes, but if people really opened their eyes they will see I am right. I have lived here all my life so far and I have seen it change from great, to good, to bad. I did go to the new cinema to see Starwars, that was good and it is something we needed, I do think it is maybe a bit big for Hereford but it was good. against my better judgement, we also went to Frankie and Bennys as we went straight from work. First and last time, I do not think I will ever go there again. The cinema I may if there is something on I really want to watch.
  24. If it is only 80Kb/s then it is not going to sound that good even on a basic kitchen radio, most people will not tell the difference between stereo on mono unless they are sitting in between the speakers. Dab is not that great at the best of times, so 80Kbps for music is poor, that is why I gave up on Dab.
  25. I have heard many things about Eastern Europeans working in this country, and they are not all fantastic, reliable and trustworthy individuals I can tell you. I get really fed up of people putting our people down, a lot of people that was born in this country works hard to keep a roof over their head and yet all we hear is how good Eastern European are. Sure we get some lazy people here, but is that not the same in every place?
