Might I suggest that "someone" takes a black bag with 2 weeks worth of rotting meat, plants, dog food and cat sick and place it outside the offices of the council with a small note informing them of the duration of the contents.

That answers my question, it's not the one up your bum then :P My dad had an endoscopy once, cant say he cared much for it. Personally, I wouldn't be able to do that. There are departments in the hospital that are fantastic! And those that aren't. You try going to the hospital as a couple losing a baby and see how they treat the man. Or, even, during a successful pregnancy and birth. You wouldn't believe that having a baby takes 2 people.

As I mentioned in another thread, i could probably do that. But for many families and properties it's potentially going to cause big problems.

I guess it all comes down to how the council is run. If it is run as a business, these are all claimable items, if it's not run as a business, then no, they shouldn't be claiming for so much. It would appear that they are taking the benefits from both models and non or the restrictions

Good job Jim... .. and well done Colin for getting a fleet together to get these issues fixed! ;)

Personally, I don't see the need or reason for a University in Hereford. What exactly do they expect to achieve with it?
-
yeah, but if you don't include all of the 3rd lanes at roundabouts and extra lanes that cut THROUGH roundabouts...... :P Temporary tarmac in holes also doesn't count :P

On the subject of vans.... How about we have some larger parking spaces? It's all well and good to give special treatment to disabled people and parents with kids who want more room to open their doors, but this is a town full of trades people, most of the vans won't even fit in a car park space let alone get the doors open.
-
I have witnessed both non blue badge holders parking in disabled spots (you see this ALOT at Asda) but also able bodied people who take a relatives blue badge and use that in their Merc.. I've seen apparent disabled people park up in cars lower than an F1 car and jump out while a man with Phocomelia* (little T Rex arms) be told to get out of a disabled spot because he didn't have a badge by a parking warden. There were 5 empty disabled spots around his car. He wasn't from Hereford and I doubt he ever came back. It's worth noting that disabled (and parent and child) spaces in private carparks such as Asda, Tesco etc, are provided as a courtesy. It is not unlawful to park in them and I certainly don't begrudge people with temporary disabilities - such as a broken leg - parking in them. I do object to able bodied people using the spaces and filling them up. I've used disabled bays before, but I only do so when I have a reason (I often park a van in the disabled spots at Asda at 2am) and even then I park in the furthest disabled spot and ensure there are plenty still available. I wouldn't, for example, take the last spot because I had a sprained ankle etc *

Hereford Futures - Council does not hold board papers

flamboyant, I agree, I have asked a number of rather basic questions that I have never had so much of a reply to -
This one stood out for me as a relative design http://www.incdesign.net/mixed-use-development/merry-hill-square.html

You must have received a red, because Dippys had been nullified before I added my own lol Great post though - assuming the reader understands sarcasm :P

In all honesty, while it would stink to high heaven, I could survive on a fortnightly collection. However, I don't live with an average sized family nor do I live in a block of flats. As I've said before, now with the recycling, black bag collection is pure rotting meat, eggs, cream etc. And that's going to cause problems, particularly in overcrowded areas and in the summer. If any of you have to put cat or dog food into a bin, you'll know that after about 2 days the smell becomes unbearable. -
The signs are correct, it's the behaviour that is the problem. Unfortunately, when a f*** up does happen, SO many people are doing it wrong that the person in the correct lane appears to be the one causing the problems. What does need to be changed, however, are the arrows on the signs themselves. Coming from Newmarket Street to the roundabout, the lanes for the A49N/Edgar Street are shown by arrows pointing straight over, when, in reality, you're turning right.

I've just had visitors from Wales leave and they had big problems with; A: The quality of the roads B: The huge deep potholes near Dunelm C: People not using the Tesco roundabout correctly, cutting them up and switching lanes. They also mention that the "white lines" are difficult to read and seem to "go off all over the place". I'd like to add, after driving at night in the rain, that the white markings on Commercial Road are non existent and need to be painted back on. I've lived here for decades and the other week, in the rain and dark, I even found myself accidentally straddling 2 lanes as I head towards KFC. At night/rain you cannot see any road markings down commerical road.

Absolutely! Mind you, I usually park in Tescos so I don't have to pay or if I need to get IN in town somewhere, I'll find a van and park in a loading bay. However, I do think that it's wrong that people should be forced to park in a private companies carpark (Tesco) without buying things just so that they can whip to the bank and back.

Now if only people can get down the road to use it :P

That's ok I blame Pauline.... (just kidding Pauline!) Anyway, probably best not to turn this into another button thread lol So ... the OLM.....

I've ran out of upvotes :P Colin, is the limit per day or per 24 hours? :)

Roger, I agree, that building looks very bleak and lifeless. While it certainly does look out of place, I think half the problem is that most of it is empty so just looks like grey cement and dirty glass.- 185 replies

Absolutely, as can be observed all over the country when it's done right. Cardiff Bay and city is full of interesting architecture and paving that has been properly implemented and lasted. When will this idiotic council start to add terms to the contracts they sign up for. I would LOVE to be a private company contracted by the council because they will sign anything. No defect clauses, no measurable targets, no lack of service clauses. They literally sign the paper and say "do what you fancy and if you can't be assed, never mind, we'll pickup the bill after"

Can any councillor answer why Worcester council managed to fix 800 potholes in 2 weeks and only need to spend 0.7 million when major holes in Hereford remain unrepaired and we're having to spend 2.8 million?
-
I don't mind a downvote - if there is an actual, discussible (I think I just made that up) reason behind it.
