  1. Balfour Beatty used a weed killer a couple of years ago that turned the ground blue where they had sprayed. Because of the number of complaints about how ugly it looked they abandoned that idea. Because of various regulations weed killer is not as powerful as it used to be so needs to be applied on a regular basis. BB do not do anything on a regular basis so spraying would be a waste of money the only answer is the old labourous method of pulling the weeds out. Perhaps some of the Ward Councillors could take the supposed big wigs of the Council on a little trip out and about so that they can see just how bloody awful Herefordshire looks. I see on FB they are moaning about the state of the Castle Pool area. I think they are building a couple of houses near to that tree the activity may well have disturbed the roots - just make sure if sorry when the traffic is held up near there try not to hang about!
  2. Yes and the longer it is all left the bigger the problem to get back into an acceptable state. Any gardener will know leave a garden for a couple of months - a jungle that takes a lot of getting back in hand.
  3. A fairly lengthy read but very informative http://www.private-eye.co.uk/issue-1447/news

  5. I think this is the lady who was removed from the Band Stand at Ross on Wye she was camping somewhere in town prior to that
  6. Back in April 2017 Graham Powell announced he was leaving the Council. I know he has moved I know he has said his goodbyes to his various Parish Councils so can only presume he is no longer a Councillor. If he is is he still getting paid? Or is Golden Valley unrepresented? It would have been cost effective to hold the election for his replacement on the same day as the General Election this was not done Why not? Are the Cons struggling to find a suitable candidate or are they still grooming a likely replacement?
  7. I would say they do read up on the various subject but because the majority of them have their own agendas they decide to stay stum and not rock the boat. The ones that do rock the boat aren't around long
  8. "the Council is supposed to exert the same control over the company as it does over its own internal departments" Well no wonder the Council is in the mess it is when Hoople is in the state it is. They certainly took the not for profit basis word for word!
  9. http://www.herefordtimes.com/news/15364253.Planning_approval_given_to_convert_offices_into_apartments/?ref=mrb&lp=2 This refers to Moor House. Such a shame that permission could not have been granted on the Sutton St Nicholas pa for Claire and Steve Snead who have tried and tried to get planning permission to build the home for their whole family to live in on land owned by them. See page 6 of the HT I am sure this has been discussed somewhere on HV but cannot find it.
  10. TWG just listened to the same and in my post of Thursday or Wednesday I said there was huge trouble ahead. People are very good at talking but not so good at action fortunately our emergency service know when and how to step up to the action. There have been many words spoken and written and yes Bobby we can all think of possible scenarios occurring from decisions made even in this county that could result in tragedy. Let us hope that some good will come out of the tragic events of Wednesday. I possibly have not used the correct words but most people will know exactly what I mean. Silly question perhaps but nobody has asked it that I have heard anyway - if there is such a huge housing crisis how can x many number of families be rehoused so easily? Answers please

  12. One is human the other one is robotic One does not mind who they talk to the other is not a good mixer I think that is as polite as I can be Huge problems ahead of Theresa on this I am afraid to say. Brexit will be a walk in the park compared with this. Very sad times poor poor people
  13. Question for those who voted Con - Are you comfortable now that the Cons have got into bed with the DUP. Would you still have voted Con had you known this was going to happen?
  14. Just been announced Diane Abbot is taking a break from campaigning she is not well. Whatever my political leanings this lady has been ridiculed and bullied throughout the campaign so I am not surprised. I thought our MP's and senior politicians were supposed to be setting an example to the public and more especially since the untimely death of Jo Cox. 15. Julie Etchingham asked Theresa May what was the naughtiest thing she ever she was very coy and ummed and aahed for a little while then said probably it was when her and her friends used to run through fields of wheat and the farmer was not very pleased - mmmmmmmmmmm
  16. Colin James said "I think we should bury the 3 terrorists shot dead with pigs! Smearing pigs blood all over them! That might make them think twice." Pigs are too good for that I suggest incinerator and their ashes chucked into the nearest sewer you can chuck a bit of pigs blood around as well if you so wish
  17. Thank God for the Police the NHS the armed forces and the very brave souls who step up to the mark to help and comfort those affected during these mindless attacks. Another very dark day for this country.
  18. Well you know what they say we pay the best to get the best Once upon a time essential maintenance work was set to run at close of play and left to run overnight or carried out over the weekends. How times change
  19. and the mostly costly at a mind boggling ................... Herefordshires £450m university will have a "huge positive impact" on the countys economy, according to one of the people charged with building it. Karen Usher, a trustee of the new engineering and technology university, was speaking ahead of next months Herefordshire Economic Forum, where she will be a speaker.
  20. Yes I had mine yesterday - nothing in paper form from Jess mind he is very busy chasing things up for the new Uni
  21. Just received from Jess - quite strange or desperate who knows Dear Denise, My team and I have been coming up against a fair bit of fake news and misleading information during this campaign, especially on social media. I thought you should know about it. It includes things like: MYTH: "Jesse's a professional politician". FACT: I was 47 when I became a Member of Parliament. Before that I spent 25 years in business, academia and running an educational charity. MYTH: "Jesse's a party stooge". FACT: My reputation in Westminster is the exact opposite, as an independent minded Tory forcefully able to express his views and influence decisions. That's why David Cameron and I fell out on several occasions, notably over the proposal to bomb Syria, and why I was awarded Rebel of the Year in 2013. MYTH: "Jesse's done nothing for the county". FACT: Just look at my record: helping Hereford Hospital save £5 million on the Private Finance Initiative, leading the campaign for the new university project, protecting Hereford and Ross hospitals from merger or takeover, helping to fight off Agombar and Lonsdale from Hereford United, working with the Council on the fast broadband roll-out and the Rotherwas Enterprise Zone, plus 600+ cases a year on behalf of local people, etc. etc. It's worth adding one further thing. In July 2016 Theresa May appointed me as Minister of Energy. Part of the deal if you are a Minister in the Government is that you support the Government. But that's *good* for our county because it allows me greater access to and (I hope) influence over the key decision-makers. So: when I was fighting for the £8 million in start-up funding we have received for the university project, it made a huge difference that my office was 20 yards away from the minister who made the decision. And the ugly truth is that any other candidate would really struggle to make an impact at Westminster, and especially when the Government's focus is so firmly on the Brexit negotiations. I think most Herefordians are far too savvy to get taken by this kind of rubbish. But it is likely to get worse during the last ten days of the election. So *please*, if you value what we've done so far, pay no attention to these and other bits of fake news, and make up your own mind on the merits. And please share this with your friends, so they can do the same. Best, Jesse
  22. Sad to die so young and from my point of view I will always remember him for the tireless work he did during the foot and mouth outbreak in 2001. It was a desperate time for so many and he did his best to ease the pain for so many.
  23. Oh sorry I have just posted this on the other forum prior to reading this
  24. Hereford Heckler are saying there is a likelihood of Theresa May visiting Herefordshire because Jesse is running scared.
