  1. I have written to Herefordshire Council Highways manager & Amey this week about the trees along the A465 into Hereford also about trees in Newton Farm and on GWW asking for them to be cut back and weeds removed so that we can see the traffic signs. We have a lot of accidents on A465 is it any wonder!I have reminded them that the birds have finished nesting so there is no reason for them not to be cut.
  2. I totally agree with all comments expressed here. I have written to the press (hopefully it will be printed) in reply to Mr Jordan. There has been some near misses in this area due to the speed of traffic and not being able to see round the corner. The yellow / cream cabins belong to a firm of exterior painters who are painting houses in Redhill, many thousands of tenants money being wasted if they do the same as they did in Newton Farm to render over it within 6 months. The other cabins are for the matterials to render the cornish houses/flats in newton Farm, both firms are renting the ground from Herefordshire Council until Dec 2012.
  3. Colin, you are right the closure of eating establishments at 1:30am is because the council and police want to encourage people to go home after coming out of night clubs instead of congregating in the streets, from what I have been told and again now from you its not working!
  4. To further answer your question in regard to the police patroling the GWW they do ride along there periodically but it is generally in the day, I did meet a CSO yesterday on his bike whilst walking down GWW. They are consentrating around the Belmont Pools because of teenagers shooting there!
  5. I walked down the GWW on my ward walk of Newton Farm yesterday afternoon, the work I have asked for again is to cut the grass/weeds back also over hanging trees from around the light standards, rubbish removed and the 'dead posts' removed all this work is dependent on AMEY! I have since 2010 ask for further lighting to be put along the GWW on several occasions to no avail, I will try again, but they will be led lights which shine directly down and will not light up the bushes etc.
  6. Bill, The only update I can give is that Herefordshire Housing Ltd (HHL) are still in negotiation with the diosese to buy the church, if successful it will be pulled down and a community hub to replace it. There is a steering group meeting on 10th Sept which I and the other Belmont Cllrs are members, Cllr Edwards is the chairman of the group. I am hoping for an update being brought to this meeting.
  7. Whilst out on Newton Farm yesterday morning I ask the men cutting the grass to cut the weeds, they said they couldn't because they were from Herefordshire Housing and the weeds are Amey responsibility. Does it really matter who cut them down as long as someone does!
  8. I have spoken to Andrew Lee-Jones at Amey this morning about the incorrect positioning of the signs, also inviting him to come on here to see the comments, he advised he would look into my complain as he was not aware the signs had already been put up.
  9. Frank, apparently the one outside the fish shop in Hunderton is still being used by the resident association because they think the new one is not in the right place. The maps have been removed because they were not what was asked for and was poor quality. They have to be replaced at no extra cost.
  10. I have got in touch with the chairman of South Wye Regeneration Board in regard to the old south wye notice board that is located at the Oval in Newton Farm asking for it to be removed, as it was put in when we received the SRB money. I have also asked for the seat opposite the new notice board to be replaced as it is beyond repair, the chairman has said he will deal with both my requests
  11. In regard to the grass cutting / weeds around the Oval I spoke to Amey operatives on Thursday about it when they were cutting the grass. The old South Wye notice board belongs to the Advice Centre group, I have been asking them for years to remove it! I wait with bated breath for a result, but they now use the new board. As Cllr Edwards takes sole credit for having this new board installed any comments/flack should be address to him!
  12. Having read all the above comments I rang Cllr Edwards advising him of people comments, he has said ' the work is not completed yet, also the path WILL NOT be tarmaced or lights installed' The next parish council meeting is on the 13th September at the Northolme Centre at 7pm, may I suggest that you all go and speak your piece at that meeting, after all it is your parish precept money that has paid for the path!
  13. I must agree, I do not class this work as the Finished article, I will get in touch again with Amey on Monday to enquire why they think this pathway work has been completed!
  14. I couldn't agree more this pathway needs to have lights along it especially during the hours of darkness, although I do not like the Led lights.
  15. On my visit to Amey offices today I issued them a list of grass cutting and weed spraying that needs to be done in Newton Farm, I have been told that this will be done starting tomorrow (Saturday 21st August) in The area commonly known as the 'Bird Sanctuary' then progressing through the garage area in Muir Close, Sherborne Close, the blocked pathway at the rear of Sherborne Close and Dunoon Mead, and public right of way pathway at the back of Blakemore Close.
  16. Colin, whilst I was at Amey offices today I spoke to Ruth Kinsella and Andrew Lee Jones advising them that the 'keep clear signs' around the Tesco roundabout are to small, and that I wanted them scrubbed out and re done to cover right across the road. They said the work will be done, I have given them a timescale in which to do the work. I left them in no doubt that I was not happy!
  17. I met with Amey management today with my list of works to be carried out. They told me following dead posts have been removed: GWW raised ground, River bridge, garage area, also in Waterfield Road and Pixley Walk. An inspector will come out with me to look at the location of other dead posts and have them removed.
  18. Cllr Edwards doesn't listen to anyone, he has always thought he knows best for everyone, unfortunately Cllr Bridges agree's with everything Cllr Edwards wants, they work together on everything. Because I do not agree with them, they ignore what I say or do. I have and always will be 100% behind my constituents, listening to what you all say, and what you want. I am sorry to have to say this, but the only way they both will realise their mistake is if no one votes for them in 2015.
  19. Colin, as this is another one of Cllr Edwards pet projects, if it is not completed properly also with lighting ( they will be Led lights)you will know who to contact!
  20. I have a meeting with Amey tomorrow morning at Rotherwas, I will not only be asking why the work has not been carried out, but also giving them an even bigger list of work that I will be asking to be done. let us see if I get a better response when I am standing in front of them!
  21. The other car park as everyone has said is already there and was put forward for consideration in the early stages, but Cllr Edwards did not want to use it, he wanted to build the one in Waterfield Road. Then at the planning meeting both Cllr's who live in Belmont influenced the planning committee to pass the application, one saying it is needed the other telling the planning officer he was happy to leave the decision up to her, much to the dismay of the residents from Newton Farm who attended the planning meeting. I spoke against the car park also pointing out the police report was also against it. The latest news is that Cllr Edwards is now proposing a 'lay by' car park to be built in Haywood Lane, which is what I ask for in the first place at the fishernen request. The money that was spent in Waterfield Road has totally been wasted, and the people living in Newton Farm has now got to live with the consequences of having a car park by the ball court that is being used for all the wrong reasons.
  22. There has been problems with the work being carried out on the PRC cornish properties in Newton Farm. I have a weekly meeting with the site manager every week therefore if any tenants are experiencing any problems whilst these works are being done please contact me so that they can be rectified.
  23. I have a meeting with Amey at their offices on Thursday I have a list of things they have not done to present to them, and will be looking for a explaination as to why these works have not been carried out.
  24. While new opening hours have been announced for police stations across Herefordshire, South Wye as yet to implement them. I spoke to PC Bradley this morning and he confirms that he has spoken to his superiors about this statement which is misleading as South Wye station has yet to appoint a front desk clerk so for the time being this will not apply to South Wye.
  25. I have received a verbal reply today from Cllr Edwards to my request about the costs of the notice boards he said as the work has not been completed he could not give me the cost of the boards, which leaves me wondering do I believe the Town Clerk estimated amount of £1,800 for each board plus maps and glazier cost of £200 each map and fixing totalling £2,000 each, or is the cost much higher that is why Cllr Edwards will not say?
