It really does puzzle the mind as to why they even leave the lights there at all during the evening and the weekends when no work Is going on. Surely someone could be on site at 7, spread the cones out and turn the lights on, then when they pack up at 6 (or 4 whatever time they decide to go home) then move them back, there is plenty of room along that stretch for two lanes with one blocked off, would save all sorts of hassle. In fact, I am surprised no one actually thought to move the comes and stick a Tesco bag over the lights :D

I think the only way they are going to actually stop people from parking there is to put bollards in, or they need to park the cctv van nearby and send out fixed penalty notices to the offenders

If they wanted to bring it closer to town, then why not wait until the harvesting has finished in one of the fields off the A49 at Grafton and hold it there? Or even get in touch with the farmer who owns it, see if he can organise his crop rotation so it's harvested earlier

Maybe put a time lapse camera on the old GWW bridge over Belmont Road - although they are moving that slowly, it may not register anything......

Always a good idea with gas mains work going on. It may be that they are being paid hourly (at a fair rate too) hence they are dragging it out. I did see a roll of yellow pipe had arrived last night - although still not a lot of work being done.

Which is why they are hoping that the houses at Three Elms will be built - the levy on those (plus the ones planned for Grafton between the bus depot and the roundabout) will be used to finance the Western loop of the bypass, at least that's what the council are hoping for.

Ah, the "improvements" on Holme Lacy Road (and I use the word very loosely) - as a driver it's, well, what was the point of it? as a cyclist, well, I have spotted about 10 feet of cycle lane, or are we supposed to contravene the highway code and ride on the footpath? Why didn't they reduce the width of the footpaths they have created by 2 feet each side, use the excess tarmac to fill the potholes as you come round the lights by the Broadleys,and provide some proper cycle lanes (skirting around the bus stops, as has been mentioned) - at the moment it's pretty pointless waste of money and effort from what I can see.

There is no guarantee that Boris will be the next PM though - that will have to go through the usual process of decision making.

Not surprised they closed to be fair - a friend of mine went shopping there on Saturday Pair of shorts - £40 reduced from £80 Top - £40 reduced from £80 Gloves - £15 reduced from £40 Socks - £10 reduced from £25!! All of which could of probably been purchased from Mastercraft over the road for less than £50 - or even Halfrauds.

I would have taken part, as it's quite local to me - however, lacking any proper waterproofs and the threat of storm clouds over Allensmore way put me off somewhat - certainly wasn't the football, can't see the point of the game personally. I do cycle to work when I can, Madley to Rotherwas takes about 30 mins or so, but when it's raining I do drive (wouldn't like to be sat at work all day sweaty and soggy from wearing waterproofs)

Try some of the roads to the South of the city, they are terrible. I ride my bike to work (Madley to Rotherwas) occasionally, well, when there is no rain in the forecast anyway. The potholes have been patched, then new ones have sprung up, anyone following in a car must be thinking I am riding drunk at 8 am! I seem to remember that Bradley Wiggins refused to come and compete last year because of the state of the roads.

Or hang around any school at kicking out time - the standard of parking is horrendous. Anyone who has driven through Madley can appreciate the problems, parents parking right up to the junctions, with complete disregard for the highway code (no parking too close to a junction etc) they would make a fortune from fixed penalty tickets.

Nice how they always seem to be oblivious to all sections of the highway code when they park up. Have seen numerous pictures of them parked on zig zag lines, pavements (causing an obstruction) etc etc.....have seen quite a few recently where people have pulled in behind them and popped their bonnet to "check a noise I heard under the bonnet/engine light came on/ran out of screenwash etc) :)

There are a lot of well used park and ride systems around the country, Bath is a very good one. Free parking at the bus depot out of town, and a £3 charge (return) for the bus itself.

Reading all the "bad press" about the redevelopment, it sounds more an more like there were some back handers involved to get the contracts, and money not spent on proper construction techniques and materials

The fabric of the building ie the bricks and mortar plus plumbing and electrics are the responsibility of the landlord where social housing is concerned. The tenants handbook usually states that the landlord (be it housing association or local council) provide insurance to cover the building, leaving the contents to the householder to cover themselves. Definitely HH responsibility.

Unfortunately in this day and age we are geared up to use the car, and that is something that isn't going to go away soon. So in the immediate (say, up to 30-40 year time frame) we will need a bypass - but wait a minute...... We also need to encourage people to leave their cars at the edge of the city, so park and ride at strategic points, N,S,W & W on main in routes is sensible. Create safe and useable cycle lanes, and encourage people with say a cycle miles scheme - the more distance they ride for, the more points - and to quote a famous person "what do points make???" - so reward with something that can only be spent locally? Make it easy for people to use bikes, have a cycle hire hub at each park and ride, and a drop off point in town, there are plenty of places that use similar schemes very successfully. This way, people are encouraged to leave their cars behind, use buses or bikes to get into town, and the through traffic (of which in most studies appears to be hardly any?) can bypass the town, reducing pollution and traffic within the city limits.

First thing - was it a panda car ( Astra/Corsa etc) or was it a traffic car, for example one of the BMW's? If it's the latter, then you would probably need to contact Worcester rather than Southside - I have heard that some of the traffic officers in the X5's do have quite a high and mighty attitude in general
