  1. Hello Mike, welcome to the forum! I went with a friend to have a look around these houses. Very spacious inside, and pretty pricey! I recall the sales lady at the show house mentioning that most had been sold off plan. I think there were only a couple available when we visited. The narrow roads were the one thing that really put her off. She'd previously viewed houses on Venns Lane, in the development by Point 4. These have narrow roads also. Combined with the fact that there are three storey properties, she said the whole development felt claustrophobic. I was interested to read Ragwerts comment that this is done deliberately... not to save space, as such, but to deter parking. It's a real shame that properties are squeezed in like this. At least in your area you seem to have got to know your new neighbours fairly well, which must make for quite a good community feel. It sounds as if should there be battles ahead, you can at least put on a united front! I think the shared ownership schemes are brilliant. When my brother moved back to the area a few years ago, he was shocked at how much house prices had gone up. This scheme has allowed him to get onto the housing ladder now he's back here.
  2. So sad to see the young family interviewed on Midlands Today. They have had their dreams ripped from them. Pat Morgan then popped up on screen to say this was best value for the tax payers of Hereford, and those affected would be offered "business advice". Err. Pat. These folks HAD a business. You and your cronies are responsible for them losing it.
  3. Hereford Times update. The injured man has been found. Blood the result of a medical condition, rather than anything criminal. He has received treatment.
  4. If this is the case, Two Wheels, and changes are indeed afoot to alter the legal status, then that's even more of a reason for supporting these plans. I've just left a comment on the HT letters page, regarding this. Thinking ahead....I quite liked the idea the Cathedral folks had a few years back, when folks could "sponsor a stone". I think something similar to this could prove quite a popular way of raising much needed funds. Perhaps a 'word wall' where folks could pay a recommended donation to write their name and favourite book, or quote? It would certainly allow many people, of all ages, to really feel that they had some "ownership" over this project. It would be a lovely 'community' led thing to do, and something for future generations to see. Families could go and sign together.... in years to come, children could show their children where their names were!
  5. It is interesting, Combo. I must add, I don't know any of the individuals involved. I wonder though, if the thinking behind it was to give the gentleman involved a little "tough love?" Sometimes folks with mental health issues stop taking medication - perhaps because of unpleasant side effects, or in the belief that they no longer need to do so. If his behaviour had deteriorated, this may have been the wake up call he needed. Courts can impose treatment orders for mental health sessions. This hasn't happened in this case, but following this incident he may seek further help. As I say, I don't know.... mental health is a factor in many, many things, but aggressive/violent behaviour cannot be tolerated. Ways forward to deal with his health issues need to be found. Hopefully, he will then be in a much better place.
  6. Hope City Church are completely separate. I've actually heard really positive things about this place, and the work they do. (Actually working with folks who need help and support, without ramming religion down their throats, and they aren't 'glory seekers' either. They seem to be non judgemental, and work within communities, rather than seeking to form their own!)
  7. Great to see such positive plans put forward. It looks as if the centre could house a fair few community groups. Encouraging to see that CAB have been included.
  8. I agree, Two Wheels. It ticks a lot of boxes! One word of caution though, the primary fuel is poultry droppings. (Which is a great use for it). They state they work with local poultry farmers. Let's hope that if this goes ahead, we don't see another spate of broiler house applications. Those places are horrendous.
  9. "We haven't done enough to end the stigma of mental health" says Dave. What complete boll.ocks. You haven't done enough full stop. Folks have been encouraged to come forward,( mental health has been talked about much more openly in the past decade) - children are referred. They are asking for help, needing help....but there isn't anything that is readily available. A thirty two week wait for children in some areas to see a mental health practitioner Not good enough Dave.
  10. This mental health review report is the lead story on BBC news at ten right now. Let's see what empty promises Dave makes now.....
  11. Morning Roger! I would be quite happy to wait an extra week for answers to any of these questions.... sadly I don't think I'd get an honest one. Just more bluff, bluster and spin. The report on mental health makes very sobering reading.
  12. Here's a couple for Dave... Why, after all the pledges and promises about increased funding for mental health, does a leaked report now show that suicide rates are on the rise? Waiting lists for those seeking mental health services have grown significantly? And children are still being sent "anywhere in the UK" for mental health inpatient treatment? And another... To paraphrase a Question Time audience member... Who's right? Fifty three thousand doctors... or Jeremy Hunt??? And finally... How does it feel, when even your own mother thinks you're getting it all very, very wrong??
  13. As I posted on another thread, this money is a blatant pay off, to mostly conservative led councils, as a way of heading off a revolt by 30 Tory MP's. This group were apparently set to cause quite a storm in their opposition to the local finance government settlement, which is due to be put to a vote. I asked the question, was Jesse one of those 30? But looking back, I see that on June 16th, Jesse "Voted very strongly for reducing central government funding of local government." So I'm guessing the answer is, no. Labour have pointed out that the five most deprived councils will get nothing under this scheme, whilst the five least deprived will collectively receive 5.3 million. Following news that David Cameron's own mother signing an anti cuts petition, Oxfordshire - home to Witney, the PM's constituency - will receive an extra nine million..... I'm guessing that may help family relations a little.
  14. Don't for one minute, waste sympathy on this man, Denise. Everything that surrounds him, he has orchestrated. The man is without morals, and bereft of principles. I have nothing but disdain for him.
  15. Seen it, signed it, Denise. With the greatest of pleasure!
  16. Indeed, Denise. Add in Jeremy Hunt, imposing his contract changes to the junior Doctors, it's been a busy few days for them.... And they wonder why they can't shake the tag line "The Nasty Party" off... Give me Jeremy Corbyn and his principles any day of the week.
  17. According to The Guardian, this money is a blatant pay off to mainly conservative led councils as a way of heading off a revolt by 30 Tory MP's. These MP's were apparently set to cause quite a storm in their opposition to the local government finance settlement, which is due to be put to a vote. Was Jesse one of them?? As a possible "PM" in waiting, he's not usually one to rock the boat.... Labour have pointed out that the five most deprived councils in the country - Middlesbrough, Hull, Knowsley,Liverpool and Manchester - will get nothing under this grant scheme. The top five least deprived - Hart, Wokingham, Chiltern, Waverley, and Elmbridge - will collectively receive 5.3 million. David Cameron's own mother signed an anti cuts petition, which has generated quite a bit of negative publicity. Oxfordshire is now set to receive an extra nine million. Quite a week for the Tories. The chancellor - George Osborne's - brother, psychiatrist Dr Adam Osborne, has also been struck off by the General Medical Council, after having a sexual relationship with a patient with mental health issues. So that's both brothers guilty of screwing vulnerable members of society.....
  18. Good lord,Megilleland. So they're off again. A fool could have told them that Bath Street Media Centre wasn't for purpose. It has residential neighbours, and I'm told that windows can't even be opened in case folks can overhear confidential conversations! Now, after spending money revamping it.... they're upping sticks and moving! Not sure what's wrong with Moor House, though?? Unless of course they've been made an offer for it??
  19. Take care GK. Recharge you batteries, then don your armour once more. Everyone needs a break now and again, myself included.
  20. Well... you'd certainly hope so. This is such a blot on the landscape. In no other city would this situation have been allowed to drag on this long.
  21. Good grief! Let's hang out the bunting immediately! We all appear to agree! How rare is that???
  22. I'd make a slight amendment to that last sentence, Glenda.... The TORIES are looking for everyone to pay for social care themselves. They also want to privatise the NHS, forcing folk to pay for medical treatment, and split this country into the haves and have nots. I hope those that voted this government in are absolutely delighted at what they have collectively achieved.
  23. Local news this evening report that the surgeon who turned whistleblower at an NHS hospital in Coventry, has been awarded 1.2 million pounds in compensation. Dr Raj Mattu also said that in the fifteen years since he first reported his concerns over safety, no more safeguards have been put in place to protect whistle blowers. There is no way, he said, that he could recommend anyone following the path that he did. He was vilified, bullied and unfairly sacked. His family and his health all suffered, and he was unable to work as a cardiologist. Grim reading for anybody thinking about sticking their head above the parapet, and reporting concerns.
  24. Good! I for one am more than happy to pay a little more to help those who need it most, and protect the services which are vital to them. Who is going to 'police' how this extra revenue is spent? Because I don't trust Pat and her cronies as far as I could spit. I would have far more faith in an IOC administration when it comes to truly protecting the most vulnerable citizens in our society.
  25. I've been in your shoes, Osmosis. Don't rise to it. Anyone with an ounce of humanity or compassion viewing this thread will tell you that you are most definitely not alone in your thoughts. (And is post 317, above, not purposeless and inflammatory??)
