  1. I just posted this question on the HC website, following a recent wasted trip on foot with an ironing board! I recently tried to make use of the recycling centre at Rotherwas. I was on foot but was aggressively turned away at the entrance. It does not state on the website that you can only enter if in a vehicle. What happens if you don't have a car, or happen to live right by a centre, as in Ledbury for example? Also, when I have visited Rotherwas in the past by car, I have been able to walk freely around the entire site (which is quite large) in order to take my various waste to the appropriate recycling containers. How is it possible to walk around on the site, but not in to the site?
  2. HT reporting application for same concept, now within Maylord's!!
  3. Would they necessarily need planning Colin? Could be covered by existing permissions?
  4. Yes, and there's a lot of moaners on there!
  5. Work underway there. Sadly not a newsagent and sweetie shop. However, could be good, apparently a good deli on one side and a decent takeaway sandwich shop to the left hand side, up against the Spread Eagle.
  6. Not surprised. My only question remains, who would want to live right up against the dirty/smelly end of Sun Valley/Cargill?
  7. If that turns out to be true I don't know whether to laugh or cry!
  8. Thanks Ragwert. Have you had any direct experience, or know someone who has? I will be taking this matter further, as they just refuse to answer any of my letters. The more examples I have the better.
  9. A request to my fellow members. Has anyone purchased domestic white goods from an independent Hereford store with the benefit of a "free for life" labour offer? I'm not naming names at this stage, and there is more than one store making such an offer in our city, so please don't draw any conclusions as yet. I'm just wanting feedback from other members who may have experienced the same issues as me. I've always tried to support local independents, even if it means paying a little more. Furthermore, I've praised these retailers to family and friends, and posted positive reviews online. However, over the last few months, I've formed the opinion that I've been stitched up. I've written on several occasions directly to the retailer and asked them to explain, all to no avail. Briefly, this is what happened. Washing machine broke. Needed new bearing. Quoted nearly £300 for the part! Told, don't bother trying to order it yourself on the internet, it won't work. Not being one for doing as I'm told, ordered part on internet for under £30 and fitted it myself (took me, as a novice, over five hours!!!). Machine working well nearly five months later! Let me know if you've had similar experiences please. I think I've been misled. Thanks all in anticipation.
  10. Ha! It might as well be down, for all the use it is. I had cause to use it today to try and contact trading standards, lots of different links, all leading to...... NOTHING!
  11. Think it opened after the refurbishment on the 24th, but they have a planned "grand opening" sometime early this month.
  12. I was just hoping against hope that we could see this establishment restored to its former glory. I'm talking decades ago. We could do with a really good, independent, steak house/pub in Hereford. It's HEREFORD for god's sake!!
  13. I saw there was a lot of work going on there recently. Anyone know if it's open, what it's like etc...
  14. Another one bites the dust. Very sad. Are they going to plant anything in it's place I wonder?
  15. The premise is sound, I would agree with you sj, but can there be a worse example of mismanagement and misappropriation of funds in this sector anywhere else in the UK?
  16. This should prove Hereford needs another way over the river! Good luck getting anywhere this afternoon/evening folks!
  17. I had a peek too. One of them was in use for a few months with a braking system that failed the MOT when it was eventually done! Brilliant!
  18. I guess this just epitomises the whole operation!
  19. If that's correct then someone really needs taking to task. No MOT = invalidated insurance policy!
  20. I noticed yesterday that they are open but unable to serve alcohol, due to what seemed to be a lack of a licence!
  21. Not sure how much cash they get now, if any (?), from our council. Still, I'm not generally fussed about such issues, can sympathise with the protesters though I think, as this doesn't seem like an exhibition that fits in at a "centre for the arts"!!
  22. I've just walked past a lot of people carrying placards that say "misuse of a centre for the arts", or something along those lines. They were heading towards the courtyard theatre.
  23. This is one for the mathematicians. I saw a report on BBC news a few weeks ago and couldn't believe what I was hearing. Apparently, nationwide, £14 billion is spent (presumably nationwide) on repairing two million potholes, i.e. £7,000 per pothole! Also, they said that one pothole is repaired every two seconds!
