  1. I second that motion haven't got a cats chance in hell…was in Bristol Saturday now that would make a good choice for city of culture fab place
  2. It won't be long before we all pay to go to work! This on top of the Conservative government trying to increase self employed taxes in the Budget. We already do in paying tax to the government…this is more like a penalty tax given out by the companies for a no show because the person due to illness cannot turn in, you'd think it would be illegal for a employer to do but there must be a loophole in the employment law or its in there contracted?
  3. Building new roads makes traffic worse, say campaigners http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-39328643 You just know this new road will not help Hereford's traffic problems because our short sighted council along with planners will not have done their research properly or learnt lessons from past new road schemes in other areas which have failed to alleviate traffic congestion where they promised beforehand to do so.
  4. I share your sentiments bobby but it is a difficult one,as I also understand people who wish to pull up the drawbridge too & i do not condem them for that either because it is easy to be overcome with the fear factor when threatened or frightened of something that may or may not cause us harm? Which in turn will bring out the self preservation in us! For example if you take a wasp most people are afraid of wasps because they have a habit of stinging & nobody likes being stung by a wasp!…so naturally if a wasp happens to fly into a room where there are people, the people on seeing the wasp become filled with fear that it will do what wasp have become well known for…stinging… so the last thing most people would want to do is to help the wasp find its way back outside to safety instead we are more likely to try & destroy it because of the fear we are in that it may sting us?! So yes more attacks are going to happen here & across Europe I think that's a given how many, how often We can't be sure but it's something we may have to get use to?…it's a big dilemma for all our consciouses?! But what we should also ask ourselves is, what if the boot was on the other foot?…what would we seek for ourselves then?
  5. Yes AV great result & the right one too even thou we had to waitI till last…have to say also cllr Greenow spoke well in support of refusing the PA which I have to admit was a pleasant surprise to me Also thanks to David Straker who did a grand job as commentator for the objectors
  6. How is it that the council are not governed by the same rules as everyone else? However given the objections to this PA the committee would be foolish to push it through because it will not be the last they hear of it I'm sure.
  7. I only ask ubique because there is a guy who is from Hereford with the same name so people might think they are one & the same when they may not be?
  8. Ubique is this Tony Chadwick from Hereford or Blackpool?
  9. I agree Denise the whole charity sector is in need of looking into with a total overhaul of the rules & regulations on how they operate as it is open to abuse with some being abused by scammers & people on the make who are taking advantage of others good will who believe their donations are going towards those who these charities profess to be helping? But in reality only a small percentage of donations actually go towards good causes.
  10. Don't get me wrong GK I'm more than happy with what they are doing but I also think that keeping the chimney is doable & would enhance the design if they had a roof starting part of the way down with the rest incased in glass with a spiral staircase running around part of it to accesses the upper floor. But your not wrong it could all of ended up as a pile of rubble. But thankfully not.
  11. I went along & had a look at the plans....on the whole I'm pleased with what they are going to do in retaining the frontage along with the mermoral hall. However I am disappointed that they are not keeping the victorian industrial chimney as this is the last of its kind in Hereford so in my opinion should be preserved & incorporated into the design as it would be a unique feature especially when you considering that they are retaining the wall with the windows etc in the design down that side?
  12. Good news this PA is now not going before the planning committee as it's been refused by the planning officer by delegation after he spoke with the ward councillor who was happy enough for him to do so!
  13. Thanks ragwert nice to know you got my back…but I can't take the risk of trying to giving you a plus mark thou sorry!
  14. Yea I wonder…well I best fess up it was me a slip of the finger it was…trouble is once you have given either a negative or a plus you can't change it as I make most of my comments on the mobile version of HV of which giving a neg or plus is not available? So sometimes I change it to the normal site in which sometimes I forget to enlarge the screen & that's when it happens…sorry megilleland you should of got a plus!
  15. Far too much money to find a replacement. What would be interesting to know is in what other local authorities are upper management who are currently suspended resigned or have a dark cloud hanging over their head as surly those will be the prime candidates for the job?
  16. I've just check the PA & I've notice that historic england have left this in correspondence http://services.historicengland.org.uk/webfiles/GetFiles.aspx?action=dl&fileid=8BD946C8-D744-4A2A-B1BF-211C6FB87B10 Unfortunately they've rejected listing but I don't think it's all bad news as they do say it is clearly of strong local interest as a surviving mid-C19 military building so I guess that's as good as a objection from them on this PA?
  17. Interesting I've a number of relatives who live in Madley but not one of them have said anything about this PA? You'd also think that HT would of picked up on this & reported it? which makes me think that this has been kept from the wider publics attention?
  18. I did not say there is anything wrong with the design however the bricks are not a modern brick as you may seem to think that's why they are called old Elworth & how can you say that red bricks are drab I've never heard the colour red described as drab before? Red is a vibrant colour…perhaps if you want a nice blue or yellow colour would brighten things up for you? It's not about keeping things the same but having new builds of modern design blending in & enhancing their surroundings to which I think the colour of the old elsworth bricks do not do in fact I think they are much more drab looking then red bricks.
  19. The bricks being used are called old elsworth cream Personally i do not think these are suitable for the area & agree with two wheels that they should of gone for red bricks which would make the property blend into it's surroundings.
  20. I don't think anyone is saying build a exacted replica of a Victorian styled house but something which is more in keeping, that uses similar materials like red bricks for example. So two wheels is correct just like the other properties in the area are built with given that it is in a conservation area too there are more stringent guidelines for new buildings. Just because you don't like red bricks Paul doesn't mean that no one else does it's a matter of opinion.
  21. Did they got their inspiration from ancient Babylon? So maybe a not so modern design? It does however look odd in the middle of the 2 Victorian houses…if it was of the same roofline as the other properties I think it wold blend in better. Personal I don't think victorian builds are drap they have charm, character with a lot of them having ornate exteriors & decorative brickwork.
  22. I must admit I knew there was talk of installing CCTV on the lines Colin but had not realised that they had actually installed them!
  23. I guess the point I'm trying to make is how are the police going to deal with rogue drones? Within the article itself it's says that earlier in the year a drone rifle was spotted with American soldiers in Iraq…the rifle does not fire bullets but a signal to disrupt the drone itself is this something our police force could use? But taking your idea further about using a drone to monitor the GW perhaps if they had some CCTV installed along the way…would it also not be possible to have a drone stationed on top of one of them so that it could be launch in the event of a crime happening to track the perpetrator movements after?
  24. This week it has been reported that Isis used a commercial drone carrying a explosive charge in which 2 peshmerga fighters were killed while also injuring 2 French special forces soldiers…could there be a possibility that terrorists would use a drone in a attack here in the UK or elsewhere? Which brings me to the question how would our police force deal with a possible threat of a terrorist attack using drones? Iraq attack shows deadly potential of 'off-the-shelf' drones http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-37638982
