  1. I just read this on another forum, 'Pause For Thoughts'

Can you imagine the outcry if the jury had returned a verdict of accidental death or death by misadventure. I suspect that the Liverpool families would have demanded another inquest, but because they got the result they wanted they are singing outside the court !. I think to put most of the blame on one man is unjust, there were a number of factors which lead to this tragedy but it has to be said that the Police did themselves no favours by trying to cover up the truth. What I would like to know is if all the fans had got to the ground in plenty of time ie 30 mins before kick off, would this disaster still have happened, I'm not passing the blame onto any of the fans but has this question been addressed ?

  2. I tend to agree. It's not just the gun, it's the copious quantity of ammo including "expanding" bullets which I take to mean hollow points/dum dums that inflict hideous wounds on living targets. Rather more than you'd need for a simple souvenir I would suggest

I think I'm right in saying it's drummed into service people that you don't take bullets home, not even expended cartridge cases from the range.  It might be that this is perhaps more a case for the health services rather than the legal system but the fact remains an offence has been committed.

I hope nobody's suggesting that Mr Patterson should be allowed to keep his private arsenal.

I see no reason why he cannot keep the gun as long as it is decommissioned, i'm sure he earned his souvenir.

  3. The tree idea is ridiculous and will cause even bigger problems long term, the council cannot afford to pay BB now for tree maintenance so can you imagine what this will look like in 10 years time! I agree with Denise, emergency vehicles use the middle section of the road and in my opinion it should be kept clear.

  4. I cannot think of anything worse for Belmont Rd right now than narrowing the road and placing trees down the centre.

Why are the council and highways agency NOT addressing the real issue here which is the poxy traffic lights and the fact that we need at least 2 more river crossings for starters. Reading this report, they have not even considered turning off the traffic lights at night, which I though was a brilliant idea.

  5. Corporate spiel my axxxs

Where's the public duty of reporting information of crimes and who did it. Gossip on a social media site is not evidence and may just be that pure gossip without foundation

You know how difficult it is to prove they are selling dodgy fags and stuff but they still continue! So all they have to do then each time their licence for booze (which is their main income no doubt hence why they dot won't to loose it) is revoked or they end up in court, is change the business owner and start all over again?

  6. Honestly with every little scandal that's happened in the past few weeks with IDS resigning and Osbornes cock up in the budget I'm surprised that this offshore tax debacle hasn't ended up with Cameron resigning his leadership post. Tbf Cameron has made a right pigs ear of this past week

I do not agree, I think the opposite, he has done the right thing and handled this better than expected.

  7. They should close them down and certainly not give them their alcohol licence back, they rely on this and still are offering dodgy cigarettes! They also do not pay their staff the minimum wage, all staff earn only £4 per hour, (more fool them I know). I also heard that the new shop on the Belmont Rd (Mila) is also selling doggy fags and have employed an illegal migrant who came here from Calais under a lorry, these people are just taking the micky and appear to be getting away with it, they should clamp down on them.

  8. 'Want to speak' seems to be the current politically correct way of saying 'want to arrest' .... It seems to happen all the time in press releases.

The only thing you can take from that 'vague' press release is that the two rapes were on the same night by one man. The wording is ~ 'At about 12.40am on Tuesday 9 February a man entered a property on Whitecross Road and raped two 17-year-old girls.'

The scenario all seems strange and unusual.

How can you rape 2 girls at the same time, all very strange, well that is how it appears at the moment. I would of expected such a terrible crime to be major news in Hereford but it all seem to be low key.

  9. Steve , may I suggest that if you have the evidence that a retired Police Office tipped them off you should inform the Authorities - my thoughts are that a Serving Police Officer in the know told the retired Police Officer who , for whatever reason , if your info. Is correct told the store .......

What makes you think that I have not already done that? Do not worry everything that can be done has been.

  10. From the HC website:

Agreement to pursue the right to compulsorily purchase the fire damaged building at 16-18 High Town in Hereford was made at a meeting of the council’s cabinet today, Thursday 11 February.

The move will mean that, in the event that no significant progress has been made to redevelop the site, the council can take action to purchase the building and ensure its regeneration. The building is currently in the hands of its former owner’s receiver who went into liquidation last year. If the receiver fails to sell the building over the coming months to a party with plans to restore the building, the council may then pursue the option to buy.

Cllr Philip Price, cabinet member infrastructure said:

“It’s been a long and arduous journey to get to this stage. When the previous owners went into receivership it left us with limited powers to enforce the restoration of the building.

The restoration of the building is key to the future successful refurbishment of High Town and the attractiveness of High Town as a shopping destination.â€

The fire, which happened in October 2010, left the building extensively damaged and it was reported as being one of the most severe fires known to have occurred in modern day Herefordshire.
