Good Morning Everyone,
I am very pleased and proud to announce that South Wye Community Association won the Liz Connors Local Community Award at last nights event, in the Shire Hall. The Community Champions Award was presented to the Chairman Lindsey Evans and representatives from the Association.
I have to say it was wonderful to be part of such a great event. There were five categories including Apprentice of the Year, Youth Champion, Volunteer of the Year, Greatest Achievement and the Liz Connors Community Award. I spoke to several of the finalists at the event and was humbled by the work that people put in, not only to improve their community but to overcome personal obstacles.
The Association received a trophy and £500 donation, (the event was sponsored by Cargill). We are considering using the donation to purchase seating for our rear garden area which is currently under construction. This area will allow users of the library and the centre to access the garden, sit and read or just have a coffee or catch up with friends.
I wanted to thank all of the volunteers and users of the Centre for all their hard work, commitment and dedication. One of the volunteers who attended the event last night has dedicated more than twenty years service ! Finally, to all users of the Centre, a big "thank you" for supporting us and attending events.
We will continue to work with residents and users to bring more services to the Centre and your support is invaluable. If anyone would like to become a volunteer or find out more about us, please get in touch or drop into the Centre. We are a friendly bunch and you would be given a warm welcome.
Well done Tracey this is very good news and a good achievement.

This is a terrible situation which was undoubtibly and discustingly has been covered up! I do not buy into that one person is to blame for the fatal events that followed, it was a catalogue of errors.
I am not a fan of majority verdicts and you cannot get away from what Paul Jones has written above;
But when up to 20% of the jury disagrees with the overall decision it is not exactly a watertight verdict in my view, even after 2 years of considering the evidence 2 people still couldnt be convinced to go along with the majority. However, I do feel that I am probably wasting my time with some members on here in expressing my opinion because those people will never admit a single fan was anything other than an angel that day.
I do hope that the families of the victims now have some sort of closure in what has clearly been a long ordeal for them all.

We are having one tonight.

I just read this on another forum, 'Pause For Thoughts'
Can you imagine the outcry if the jury had returned a verdict of accidental death or death by misadventure. I suspect that the Liverpool families would have demanded another inquest, but because they got the result they wanted they are singing outside the court !. I think to put most of the blame on one man is unjust, there were a number of factors which lead to this tragedy but it has to be said that the Police did themselves no favours by trying to cover up the truth. What I would like to know is if all the fans had got to the ground in plenty of time ie 30 mins before kick off, would this disaster still have happened, I'm not passing the blame onto any of the fans but has this question been addressed ? -
I see the HT have finally caught up with this one http://www.herefordtimes.com/news/14448067.Plans_submitted_to_convert_former_Hereford_pub_into_flats/

Congratulations your 90th birthday is a huge milestone.

I tend to agree. It's not just the gun, it's the copious quantity of ammo including "expanding" bullets which I take to mean hollow points/dum dums that inflict hideous wounds on living targets. Rather more than you'd need for a simple souvenir I would suggest
I think I'm right in saying it's drummed into service people that you don't take bullets home, not even expended cartridge cases from the range. It might be that this is perhaps more a case for the health services rather than the legal system but the fact remains an offence has been committed.
I hope nobody's suggesting that Mr Patterson should be allowed to keep his private arsenal.
I see no reason why he cannot keep the gun as long as it is decommissioned, i'm sure he earned his souvenir.

Excellent news, it is so good to see Hereford doing well and attracting some large crowds, well deserved.
-
Good luck lets all keep our fingers crossed.

The tree idea is ridiculous and will cause even bigger problems long term, the council cannot afford to pay BB now for tree maintenance so can you imagine what this will look like in 10 years time! I agree with Denise, emergency vehicles use the middle section of the road and in my opinion it should be kept clear.
-
Rather than we all carry on arguing about which is the best route, lets just get on with it now and get it built or it will never happen!
-
I cannot think of anything worse for Belmont Rd right now than narrowing the road and placing trees down the centre.
Why are the council and highways agency NOT addressing the real issue here which is the poxy traffic lights and the fact that we need at least 2 more river crossings for starters. Reading this report, they have not even considered turning off the traffic lights at night, which I though was a brilliant idea.

Corporate spiel my axxxs
Where's the public duty of reporting information of crimes and who did it. Gossip on a social media site is not evidence and may just be that pure gossip without foundation
You know how difficult it is to prove they are selling dodgy fags and stuff but they still continue! So all they have to do then each time their licence for booze (which is their main income no doubt hence why they dot won't to loose it) is revoked or they end up in court, is change the business owner and start all over again?
-
He could of come clean right away and not dragged it out over 4 days. Doing that would suggest that he has something to hide
I agree with what Colin wrote above
In fairness to the PM, he needed to respond accurately and if that meant gathering all his documentation and evidence in order to provide a defence, then I see nothing wrong with that tbh.

Honestly with every little scandal that's happened in the past few weeks with IDS resigning and Osbornes cock up in the budget I'm surprised that this offshore tax debacle hasn't ended up with Cameron resigning his leadership post. Tbf Cameron has made a right pigs ear of this past week
I do not agree, I think the opposite, he has done the right thing and handled this better than expected.

You don't need a licence to sell tobacco ~ so how often The Council want to target the shop for dodgy 'smokes' is really in their hands. Enforcement budget/enthusiasm permitting.
Booze applications pending can be found here
I appreciate that but refusing a booze licence will impact of their business.
-
Guess what? Zardashit Karem Salh has sold/handed over the business to his brother, how predictable! Wait for the new license application to be submitted.
-
They should close them down and certainly not give them their alcohol licence back, they rely on this and still are offering dodgy cigarettes! They also do not pay their staff the minimum wage, all staff earn only £4 per hour, (more fool them I know). I also heard that the new shop on the Belmont Rd (Mila) is also selling doggy fags and have employed an illegal migrant who came here from Calais under a lorry, these people are just taking the micky and appear to be getting away with it, they should clamp down on them.

Newton Brook, Belmont Brook, which is which?
-
Well done to Tesco for taking the initiative, I agree, we should not have starving people in 2016. Lets hope other supermarkets and companies follow their lead.

'Want to speak' seems to be the current politically correct way of saying 'want to arrest' .... It seems to happen all the time in press releases.
The only thing you can take from that 'vague' press release is that the two rapes were on the same night by one man. The wording is ~ 'At about 12.40am on Tuesday 9 February a man entered a property on Whitecross Road and raped two 17-year-old girls.'
The scenario all seems strange and unusual.
How can you rape 2 girls at the same time, all very strange, well that is how it appears at the moment. I would of expected such a terrible crime to be major news in Hereford but it all seem to be low key.
-
This must be so scary for the women of Hereford. I hope he is caught sooner rather than later, sick bastard! Oh and please lets not hear when they eventually catch up with him that he has led a deprived life and all all that crap!
-
Zardashit, now there is an appropriate name if ever I saw one lol
-
Steve , may I suggest that if you have the evidence that a retired Police Office tipped them off you should inform the Authorities - my thoughts are that a Serving Police Officer in the know told the retired Police Officer who , for whatever reason , if your info. Is correct told the store .......
What makes you think that I have not already done that? Do not worry everything that can be done has been.
Shame of EU wasn't it?
