  1. Still has to be a lot better than having an empty building, so good luck to them. Unbelievable rent and rates, never realised they were that high it is little wonder why we have so many empty shops locally.

I also prefer to see a business using these empty premises regardless of what they sell. Coffee shops seem to be very popular so why not.

  2. After a lot of thought, I have decided to disable the reputation/arrows + and - from the system as a trial. Although this system has its benefits I believe it can also fuel and cause unnecessary animosity between members. If this proves to be successful in restoring some harmony again for some members then I will leave it disabled permanently.

This is a very good decision.

  3. I saw this Steve and it saddens me after all just 10 families.

As the Conservative crew report back to HQ about the underlying feeling of its constituents in our shires it's a sure thing that our time in the EU is coming to an end after all this Government depends upon its rural associations....and these predominantly white ...sorry I should not have said that.(not been to the meeting yet). They are saying no unless of course they can be used as cheap labour.

My job has always meant that I cannot differentiate between race, colour, religion or creed everyone treated the same even the drunk idiot that turns up on your doorstep every bloody night stealing ya precious resources.

We are a democracy but sadly it's our fear of losing said democracy that is reverting us back to a time long ago, throwing away much of what this country has achieved.

I do understand the fear after all we are more likely to absorb the TV images first rather than listen to the reporters piece and as my wife observed..." why are they mainly men, where are the women and children".

This household would assist a family but a community group of twenty men pitched up in a shack down the road well my wife would not be comfortable about it and nor would I.

I want to go to this meeting to understand how the authorities intend to sell the concept because at the moment all I can see is 'selective reporting'.

As you said Steve this is an opinion a point of view and its mine.

I agree grenknight, personally the meeting on the surface looks like a good idea. It will be interesting to hear your thoughts after.  :Happy_32:

  4. Well there's certainly a raft of folks with bigoted opinions and narrow minds around.

In fact there appears to be no shortage of that on this very forum.

I no longer wish to be associated with it.

Hmmm again, you cannot have an opinion these days Roger I thought you knew that. On another note, have you seen the poll about bringing refugees to Hereford on the HT website? Seems peoples opinions are not limited to just this forum and the same on another local site too I notice.

  5. My friend just raised this subject again (somewhere else) in the wake of the Migrant crisis. Is it acceptable that this property is unoccupied (in unclear circumstances) when people are fleeing War Zones ? Should Hereford help out a Syrian family and house them here ?

Not when we have local people that need housing but yes house is wasted in its current state which is disgusting.

  6. Thanks for the replies. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, it is a free country the last time I checked! Good to know that only one paragraph was quoted :-) I anticipated that well.

Many agree although wouldn't dare say it.

Oh and while you are slating me, for the record, I said exactly the same to Nick and Leighton last night. Neither were phased or surprised by my opinion, and we had a good conversation about the area, as its my stomping ground. They said they would even pop round for donuts. I've got nothing to hide.

Like I said "Hereford is too small and too local for this not to have gotten around the many circles." Take previous serious crimes for instance, yes majority committed by locals and wrapped up within days if not weeks.

My neighbours are Romanian, friendlier than many Hereford folk and are of the same opinion as me. What does that say to you I ask?

The police are non the wiser 2 months on and relying on that vital "whisper".

A very wise man once said to me, "If you're confronted with a gunman, stay and fight. If you're confronted with a knifeman, run! Chances are the gunman won't use it. The knifeman will and you can't outrun a bullet!"

Despite all of the recent goings on I still feel safe in Hereford. But yes the lines needs a overhaul with help BY US and more lighting. Yes I still use it.

I am not sure who you are referring to as the member who was slating you? as for me, I merely asked what evidence you had to come with such a statement, which you have not addressed. The police are no wiser simply because there is lack of evidence and witnesses otherwise the culprit would now be locked up. I still fail to see how you came to your conclusion that the culprit has moved here from abroad?

  7. I personally believe that this act of murder was committed by someone that had moved to the city from abroad.

What evidence you have to back up that rather bizarre statement? That's the sort of thing we need to stop! Rumours and personal beliefs, the police need facts!

  8. It's getting serious - all over his " man bag ! "

A passenger on an Easyjet aircraft at Gatwick Airport has been Tasered by police shortly before it was due to take off for Belfast.

Officers boarded the plane shortly after 08:00 BST following reports a passenger had become abusive in an argument over luggage.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of breach of the peace and is in custody, a Sussex Police spokesman said.

Witness statements are being taken from passengers and crew aboard the plane.

    'Man purse'

In a statement, Easyjet said police were called to the aircraft "due to a passenger behaving disruptively".

Niall Copeland tweeted: "Man getting arrested on @easyJet flight home to #Belfast because he wants 2 pieces of hand luggage!"

He then posted: "All because he was insistent of wearing his man purse."

I am not entirely sure what this has to do with "Airline Fat Tax" (off topic) this is just some idiot causing trouble over his man bag, which he will now be truly sorry about.

  9. Some good photos Colin. Yes it is a shame to see these old flats being torn down but the end result will be a 100 times better with better more modern facilities for people too. The only thing that I am surprised at is I that I read somewhere that the number of homes being replaced is a lot less? A bit like when the built the county hospital, less beds than were there before and now they are having to build another wing. I cannot understand why they have not build replacement apartments and I would of gone a little further and even added another floor to house more people especially with the housing situation the way it is.

  10. Incredibly sad, Dan, I agree.

There are folks who have incredibly difficult lives, with very complex issues.

But the merest glimpse of this group has been enough to spoil Steve's big night out. That surely is unforgivable.

You know what, I work damn hard for my money, I have a disabled son and we all go out together for a nice meal, I don't expect to listen to some stinking foul mouth druggie watching his mate take a pi*% outside a church, anyone else would be arrested. I noticed a used needle on the floor too, maybe it was not from them but i am sure its probably from someone they know. I wonder how you would feel dippy if your child picked it up?  Complex lives indeed, we all have choices and and they chose drugs! I am yet to see a successful druggie. They are nothing but parasites and a drain to society and a burden to everyone around them.

  11. Personally Im more of a fan of the new Champagne Signature - great Indian restaurant.

With regards to the homeless there does appear to be an increase in the amount of homeless that are pitching up in Commercial Road - sad times indeed.

Last time I looked it had closed down? I assume you mean the one under the hotel by Sainsbury?

  12. I saw that Hereford BID are now employing someone to clean the streets early in the morning in Hereford City which I hope will help. Like many other posters I am disappointed to see the way the streets are more cluttered with such a variety of notices and billboards - I had to cycle round a A board stuck in the middle of the cycle lane on the corner of Broad St the other day - could businesses have a think about what they are doing? Those that clean and wash down the front of their premises I find are much more attractive to enter and if everyone does this it does make a big difference to the area. However, just this morning there are 2 older people drinking outside the Oasis Dental surgery on Belmont road at 9.30am, surrounded by litter and empty tins - such a shame. This regularly happens outside All Saints cafe. Perhaps that is why the Council want a bypass so no-one outside of Hereford will see the huge problem Hereford faces with drink and drugs all day and everyday.

We went out for a meal only last night at the glass tandoori and there were at least 6 people shouting and swearing holding beers can outside the church to the side of the long bar, they looked like druggies, unkept and dirty looking, I recognise the one girl in the group she is a regular in the city centre. I thought that you could not drink in the town? Why is this being ignored?
