  1. What!

    You actually think she wasn't mentally ill?   You think they sent medical professionals to assess her and talk to her because...they thought she was well balanced and 'normal'?

    You think that trained professionals don't consider their options and just react?

    That the Police were involved and the NHS we KNOW they consulted...How bloody naive do you have to be to think otherwise?

    Oh and you know all the facts do you? Maybe she was drunk or off her head we she decided to camp at this wonderful scenic camp site, so yes upon reflection and taking all this into account and her behaviour, I agree your probably right, she must be pretty nuts I guess, all self inflicted though in my view and please don't start telling me she was unlucky in life and blah blah blah, another VICTIM eh? - Well we all have choices, she just appears to have made the wrong ones and still continues to refuse any help.

  2. So, to clarify...

    A female who it seems was suffering from mental illness camped on a roundabout.

    The authorities weighed up the social, legal and medical oppositions. Consulted with relevant Law and Health bodies and when sure of the correct measures, acted.  I could be wrong, but I think this is what they get paid to do, what they are trained for and what they are legally obliged to do.

    What didn't happen was the authorities acted to appease a vocal few whose slogans are '...this ain't what I pay my taxes for' and the '...my Dad didn't fight the second world war just so _____ can do ______ (please fill in blanks)'

    Luckily for society it is exactly what we pay taxes for and exactly why 'my' father fought in the war.

    .........(well, to be fair he was already in the RAF in 1939 so he didn't have much choice).

    I don't know where you are going with this, but who said she was suffering from any mental illness? You are assuming far too much by the seem of it, you also do not know what the local authorities weighed up, if anything at all...to add to this you do not know if they consulted with anyone? This is all guess work on your behalf so far.

    The woman is no longer on the roundabout so this topic has now more or less been exhausted.

  3. Hi Steve, as I said in a previous post - none of us know the full story, but some are very quick to judge.

    As for compassion shown on this thread?

    Nothing says compassion more than ' I hope she gets a good slapping. Stupid cow.' 'I hope we have a good few storms' 'Remove her' and 'Idiot.'

    Yes. Those comments just scream compassion.

    As for being removed, I was under the impression she'd left voluntarily. Perfectly happy to acknowledge I got that wrong if so.

    Oh behave dippy this is just a few people venting their frustrations, ( I am sure we are all guilty of saying things on the spur of the moment) I do however agree that the slapping comment was unnecessary. I was told be more than one person that she was removed and there was a police van there either Friday/Saturday then BB arrived to clear up quite a lot of mess left behind, I would not put money on that, I am just going by what I had heard.

  4. It would be a good idea if everyone kept the area outside their own house clean.

    Yes I agree, we were only looking outside some of the houses along Belmont Road over the weekend while driving past and had the same thoughts. I have noticed an old lady often sweeping up the leaves and rubbish outside her gate on many occasions, nice to see.

  5. Afternoon Colin, the taser remark was my response to a comment about Russian authorities being quicker to act. Personally, I think the authorities here have done well. They took a 'hands off' approach - and it clearly worked. But not quick enough for some folks.

    The rest of my post is more a social comment on attitudes. Which I feel is valid.

    Agree that this thread has run its course!

    Hands off approach? They removed her and yes I agree it clearly worked.

  6. K Butt and Bill, Completely agree.

    Dangerous situations threatening life and limb do need to be flagged up to the relevant authorities.

    Such concerns are always taken seriously......the residents of Grenfell will vouch for that.

    Let's face it - poor and you complain, zero response. Poor and you're the source of complaints? Some folks seem to think they should be tasered and dragged off into the night.

    Perspective.Is.Needed.

    It's what has been lacking on this thread.

    Alongside compassion.

    Compassion, I have compassion but not for people who's situation is self inflicted. I am not going to get into a full blown discussion but I do get frustrated  when I read such comments. Yes I am all for helping people who through no fault of their own need help and support but I have very little time for those who have caused most of it themselves.

    Clarkester's logic is excellent.

    Anyway, good news that she has now gone.

  7. I am fed up of hearing people blaming the government for everything. The council have the money, I know that my community charges have gone up and they managed to find the money to extend and upgrade the planning office in Blueschool Street  but can't find the money to kill weeds, yeah right. What do you mean it is no good moaning about it, go and remove them ourselves? You will be telling us next that we have to arrest the local burglars ourselves.

  8. Dare I say it I think the truth of the matter is the authorities just do not know what to do with this lady and whilst on the roundabout they know where she is.

    I think this is a poor excuse Denise, the authorities need to remove her from this location before some sort of incident happens.

  9. That's nice, inciting violence against a woman who appears to be mentally ill. Regardless of the rights and wrongs of her case your post is despicable. Next time you get the urge to speak your brain and share the benefits of your wisdom via keyboard do us all a favour and don't bother.

     Oh come on, he is hardly inciting violence so lets not exaggerate, makes me laugh, quick to condemn people for making of the cuff remarks made out of frustration, yet says nothing about the person causing as distraction on Herefords busiest junction, which is as accident just waiting to happen, most people accept that. Unreal, you couldn't make it up   :Angry:

    I have MAJOR concerns over these two tree's on the Belmont Road, I have mentioned this several times over the years but nothing is seems to be done about it. These tree's are an accident just waiting to happen! The roots have pushed out the wall beneath.

    A good strong wind and storm and they will be down Colin. You highlighted this once before and since then I can't help but look every time I go past

  11. This is not good for them or anyone else, council need to move her and before anyone starts, there are plenty of other places in and around Hereford they could camp other than on the business roundabout in the city. They are a distraction and this is dangerous for both them and motorists.

  12. Where's your human compassion as you always seem to be down trodding on the poor not everyone can be rich & when your poor with money being tight then things like home insurance can be a luxury item they just can't afford.

    These people are now homeless have lost loved ones neighbors & friends because of this avoidable tragedy so are in need of help so don't begrudge them of receiving any help.

    Rich people never have the worry of where their next meals coming from or if they will have a roof over their head tomorrow…rich people need other people too you know they don't get rich on their own!

    Again having a pop at well off people. I am not well off by any standard but it does become a bit tiresome blaming those who happen to be successful, many have worked damn hard too.

    I have compassion that said, a friend of ours who lives in Liverpool, there home was damaged from fire and they had to find their own temporary accommodation, the council were not really interested, because it was a private house they told them to speak with their insurers, they were not insured, guess what, nobody other than their family helped them, this was about 5 years ago. So like always in the UK if you work hard an try to better yourself by buying your own home etc your penalised, yet if you don't work everything appears to be provided free of charge. My friend lives in a semi detached Cornish house in Swindon, she had the house left to her when her mother passed away, new people have moved in next door within the last 2 years, they have had all the new alterations, roof tiles, windows, and kitchen and because my friend owns her house they totally left hers, so if your driving around and wonder why one half of a semi looks new and the other is untouched you now know why.

    I agree with the above comments, if this were you or me, no help would be coming our way I am sure. The PM has pledged £5 million and has said she will try to re-house these people within 3 weeks which I think is very good, they have refused to let the immigration dept get involved trying to identify people, is that because many of those could of been her illegally?

    Bono and Geldof now theres a question, where are these two?

  13. Then I am afraid those should be sat behind a desk.

    Times have changed and we need to change, as a tax payer the police are there to serve and protect the public, they cannot do this with their hands tied behind their backs or simply with a truncheon.

    How can a young police officer faced with some nutter with a gun supposed to defend themselves and the public? Oh yeah, ask the terrorists to hang on for 15 mins while they wait for the armed unit to arrive.

    Police throughout other Europeans countries carry guns and if they are not happy carrying guns maybe they are in the wrong job. Personally, I do not feel safe here anymore and I dread to think how people caught up in these attacks feel when an unarmed copper turns up to protect them, time to wake up people! It is now time to train and arm all police officers in the UK.

  14. Well if were going to start a protest you best read this...

    So what is the difference here then?

    There has been global outrage over the President's executive order to temporarily ban refugees and citizens from seven mainly-Muslim countries from coming to the US.

    The "extreme vetting" measure means no visas are being issued for 90 days to migrants or visitors from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

    In a statement, the Foreign Office said:

    :: The ban only applies to individuals travelling from one of the seven countries - Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen

    :: Travellers to the US from anywhere other than one of those countries will experience no extra checks regardless of nationality or place of birth

    :: UK nationals travelling from one of the seven countries are not included in the ban, even if they were born in one of the countries

    :: Dual citizens from one of the seven countries travelling to the US from outside those countries are not affected

    :: Dual nationals might experience extra checks if they travel directly from one of the seven nations.
    :: REFUGEES

    All refugees are barred from entering the US, regardless of nationality, for 120 days. The exception is Syrian refugees, with Mr Trump describing their entry as "detrimental to the interests of the United States" (see below).

    The last time the US refugee programme was frozen was a three-month period after the 11 September attacks almost 16 years ago.

    After that, the US will admit a maximum of 50,000 refugees this year - less than half of the 110,000 limit set by previous president Barack Obama.

    :: SYRIANS

    All Syrians are banned from entering the US indefinitely. This includes refugees from its civil war, which has forced 4.8 million people to flee the country since 2011, according to the UN.

    :: IRAQ, IRAN, SOMALIA, LIBYA, SUDAN, YEMEN

    No visas will be issued to migrants or visitors from these countries for 90 days.

    :: PEOPLE WITH DUAL NATIONALITY

    The details here are still complex but US officials have said US citizens who also have a passport from one of the barred countries are not affected.

    The British Foreign Office has said that British citizens are exempt but those travelling direct from one of the banned countries can expect additional checks.

    Those holding Canadian passports are also unaffected.

    But people who hold passports from one of the seven countries and a different country will be affected.

    :: GREEN CARD HOLDERS

    After some initial confusion, the order has been confirmed as not affecting those who hold a US green card and Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly has said the entry of these "lawful permanent residents" is "in the national interest".

    But White House chief of staff Reince Priebus has said those from the seven countries will be subject to tougher checks.

    :: PEOPLE WITH VISAS

    Those from the seven countries mentioned earlier are affected here, except for those with diplomatic visas or visas to international institutions such as the UN or NATO.
  15. One story you just picked out....That's ISIS,They need exterminating so don't start twisting stories.

    And seriously you justify one story in a very long post for the hundreds of thousands murdered in Syria while we all stood by watching it happen.

    Hey, I do not disagree with you but you have missed the point I was making, which is you are questioning these posts saying that HV is predominantly about Hereford, yet your happy to respond to other 'NON Hereford' topics.
