  1. Well if were going to start a protest you best read this...

    post-915-0-80042200-1485756171.jpg

    So what is the difference here then?

    There has been global outrage over the President's executive order to temporarily ban refugees and citizens from seven mainly-Muslim countries from coming to the US.

    The "extreme vetting" measure means no visas are being issued for 90 days to migrants or visitors from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

    In a statement, the Foreign Office said:

    :: The ban only applies to individuals travelling from one of the seven countries - Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen

    :: Travellers to the US from anywhere other than one of those countries will experience no extra checks regardless of nationality or place of birth

    :: UK nationals travelling from one of the seven countries are not included in the ban, even if they were born in one of the countries

    :: Dual citizens from one of the seven countries travelling to the US from outside those countries are not affected

    :: Dual nationals might experience extra checks if they travel directly from one of the seven nations.
    :: REFUGEES

    All refugees are barred from entering the US, regardless of nationality, for 120 days. The exception is Syrian refugees, with Mr Trump describing their entry as "detrimental to the interests of the United States" (see below).

    The last time the US refugee programme was frozen was a three-month period after the 11 September attacks almost 16 years ago.

    After that, the US will admit a maximum of 50,000 refugees this year - less than half of the 110,000 limit set by previous president Barack Obama.

    :: SYRIANS

    All Syrians are banned from entering the US indefinitely. This includes refugees from its civil war, which has forced 4.8 million people to flee the country since 2011, according to the UN.

    :: IRAQ, IRAN, SOMALIA, LIBYA, SUDAN, YEMEN

    No visas will be issued to migrants or visitors from these countries for 90 days.

    :: PEOPLE WITH DUAL NATIONALITY

    The details here are still complex but US officials have said US citizens who also have a passport from one of the barred countries are not affected.

    The British Foreign Office has said that British citizens are exempt but those travelling direct from one of the banned countries can expect additional checks.

    Those holding Canadian passports are also unaffected.

    But people who hold passports from one of the seven countries and a different country will be affected.

    :: GREEN CARD HOLDERS

    After some initial confusion, the order has been confirmed as not affecting those who hold a US green card and Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly has said the entry of these "lawful permanent residents" is "in the national interest".

    But White House chief of staff Reince Priebus has said those from the seven countries will be subject to tougher checks.

    :: PEOPLE WITH VISAS

    Those from the seven countries mentioned earlier are affected here, except for those with diplomatic visas or visas to international institutions such as the UN or NATO.
  2. One story you just picked out....That's ISIS,They need exterminating so don't start twisting stories.

    And seriously you justify one story in a very long post for the hundreds of thousands murdered in Syria while we all stood by watching it happen.

    Hey, I do not disagree with you but you have missed the point I was making, which is you are questioning these posts saying that HV is predominantly about Hereford, yet your happy to respond to other 'NON Hereford' topics.

  3. I really do question these type of posts,especially on a site which is predominantly for news & stories about Hereford.

    There have been hundreds of attacks on refugees & Asylum seekers in Germany why no posts about them?

    Maybe you need to have a look around the web and actually see the utter horrors of what has actually been done to the Syrian people and not

    just look at the very few (cleansed) news stories ie the syrian child pulled out of the rubble,washed up body of child.

    PM me & I'll point you in the right direction

    ragwert you are more than content to join in other debates, so were your comments on 'just one that I plucked out' based on these so called cleansed media reports too or was that particular report okay?

    Regarding the washed up body of a child (a child's life is no more important than any other human life):

    Details about the Syrian family of the three-year old boy, who drowned as they made their way to Europe from Turkey on a small dingy, began to emerge recently and some things do not add up.

    According to The Wall Street Journal, Abdullah Kurdi, the little boy’s father, was living in a relatively safe area in a Turkish town for three years while working on construction sites for 50 Turkish lira (roughly $17) a day.

    However, Kurdi told a Syrian radio station it was not enough to support himself and his family and he relied on his sister Tima Kurdi, who is a 20-year resident of Canada, to assist in paying the rent.

    It should be noted that Tima told reporters Thursday that the family just came to Turkey last year, even though WSJ points out he came to Turkey three years ago, and his Facebook “shows pictures of the family in Istanbul crossing the Bosporus and feeding pigeons next to the famous Yeni Cami, or new mosque.â€

    Tima told WSJ that their father was still in Syria and advised his son to leave Turkey and go to Europe and have his teeth fixed. Once in Europe, he was instructed to find a way to bring his entire family over from Turkey. Tima wired €1,000 ($1,100) to her brother for the trip one month ago.

    According to The Ottawa Citizen, Turkey does not register thousands of Syrian Kurdish refugees in the country exit visas, as the UN does not register them as refugees. “I was trying to sponsor them, and I have my friends and my neighbours who helped me with the bank deposits, but we couldn’t get them out, and that is why they went in the boat. I was even paying rent for them in Turkey, but it is horrible the way they treat Syrians there,†Tima told The Ottawa Citizen.

    Other reports say the family was fleeing Kobane in Syria, an area that ISIS attacked previously, but the WSJ report as well as others say the family wanted to leave Turkey for reasons that were not ISIS or war related.

    WSJ notes that Abdullah called her just before he was due to leave Turkey, he told his sister he planned on bringing the entire family with him to Europe, claiming his wife could not support their two sons alone.

    “If we go, we go all of us,†Ms. Kurdi recounted him telling her. She said she spoke to his wife last week, who told her she was scared of the water and couldn’t swim.

    “I said to her, ‘I cannot push you to go. If you don’t want to go, don’t go,’†she said. “But I guess they all decided they wanted to do it all together.â€

    The family boarded a 15-foot boat intended to take them from the Turkish resort town of Bodrum to the Greek Island of Kos.

    According to earlier reports, the family’s application for asylum in Canada was rejected by Canada, but Canadian immigration authorities told the BBC they had no record of receiving an application for refugee status from Abdullah. Tima later admitted the asylum application for the family was never submitted.

    Tragically, the boat capsized Wednesday. Twelve passengers died as a result including Abdullah’s young sons and wife. He was the only member of his family to survive, but the photo of his 3-year old drowned child on a Turkish beach made headlines across the globe.

    One Australian politician blamed the father for the death of the boy when the Australian Parliament debated the refugee issue. Senator Cory Bernardi told Australia’s Parliament he was not swayed by “these emotive arguments, and in particular to characterise this as some sort of humanitarian missionâ€.

    While acknowledging that the boy’s death was a tragedy, he said: “That boy and his family had lived in Turkey for three years. The money for that boy’s father to pay the people smugglers was sent from Canada.†He added, “The father sent them on that boat so the father could get dental treatment. They were in no fear, they were in no persecution and they were in no danger in Turkey.â€

  4. Steven, it may seem like it's a waste of time, and if things go on Iike this for much longer we may pass a tipping point that'll give society no chance of repairing itself, but if the Islamic community can help themselves and soothe the rest of our social fabric, then it's possible that all these things will change for the better.

    Like the black West Indian communities and the Indian communities who arrived in Britain after the War, they've successfully integrated themselves,and so hopefully, sooner rather than later, the madness of Sunni and Shia and who carries the word of the Prophet Mohammed will come to an end and peace will flourish.

    Mind, we could be bothering ourselves over buggar all. If Russia gets fed up with the ever expanding EU, Trump turns out to be a psychopathic headbanger and we've got World War Three to contend with none of this will matter anymore anyway.

    My warmest regards to you and I wish you and yours a very happy Christmas.

    You may be right Bobby anyway Merry Xmas to you and yours  :Thumbs-Up:

  5. Steven, the reason these nations have never been attacked, and it's unlikely they ever will be, is because they've never experienced or even countenanced multiculturalism within their societies. People who are not white Caucasian don't want to settle in this region of Europe and the people's of this part of Europe dont want them there either.

    Whilst it's politically convenient for the leaders of these Eastern regional governments to lay claim to preventing terrorist attacks by not welcoming Syrian migrants to settle, you must understand that this social approach toward people of difference has been in existence long before the global troubles involving Islamic State Terror.

    You are correct, so understanding that this social approach toward people of difference, we are all wasting our time trying then?

    All this just proves that some cultures just do not mix and even when you hold out a hand of friendship that does not work either. We will just keep on with the flag coloured monuments and candles and I still blame Merkel.

  6. Just take a good look at that photograph, it just goes to show how pathetic this really is, it is quite unbelievable. What happened to common sense, all they have done here is caused the motorist more frustrations and unnecessary delays, they should be fined for everyday the roadworks and lights are in place!

  7. Was out on the town last night. First in a while. The new Hogwarts pub is well presented and maintained. A group of lads were getting a little over excited and had their ear bent by security, allowing them to continue their enjoyment but toned down. Well tackled. I digress......

    Walking from one establishment to the next I encountered a 'bare' High Town - and what an eyesore! The place was covered in litter from the day traders, it consisted of pop bottles coffee cups wrappers of sorts fast food tubs etc etc. Does it not get cleaned after hours? It really was a shocking sight. Disgusting. Why do I pay my council tax again?

    Yes High Town is becoming a dump, I see rubbish that has been there for months.

  8. Apparently Graham Powell has resigned from the Cabinet, confirmed by Tony Johnson in letter today.

    attachicon.gifGraham-Powell.jpg

    He will still apparently remain as Cllr for his ward, Golden Valley South.

    David Harlow (Birch Ward) is replacing him.

    Remember where you heard it first!

    There must be a story to go with this lol there is usually no smoke without fire, I bet there is more to come  :Hmm:

  9. Luckily for the Ukraine they are acceptably white Caucasian, predominantly Catholic and like Poland have no historical experience of multiculturalism or integration from outside global influences and this is why they've been welcomed into Poland.

    Poland like a few other countries have the right attitude in my book. We now have a Muslim Mayor of London in a christian country, we have lost our identity and I see little in the way of integration. There are far too many do-gooders worrying about upsetting or offending other cultures in this country, integrate or leave!

    Poland and Hungary do not have the problems on the scale that we experience here, I drove through London last week and was shocked when I witnessed muslim extremists walking and shouting with banners in Walthamstow, not one arrest, but walk with a banner shouting and balling at a football match and see how many get arrested then.

    These countries should not be bullied or threatened with huge fines for not taking muslim migrants.
