  1. Hence her stand against not being blackmailed by the EU bureaucrats. She is got bigger balls than many leaders, they also do not want this so called diversity and multiculturalism, they have every right to decide who crossed their borders and not be intimidated by the likes of Merkel.

You are correct my friend and Poland is actually Central Europe, I never did understand why they call people East Europeans from Poland, it could not be anymore central.

Getting back to the topic, if Poland want to maintain their identity then there is nothing wrong with that, threatening countries will fines for not taking people is no more than blackmail. Poland have taken immigrants but were very clever and took them from the Ukraine.

  2. Question, when they escorted Theresa May from parliament today why did her security team have firearms in hand? "

Think you will find that the PM Personal Protection Team would have ushered her out to her car with weapons drawn because at that time they did not know the full picture of what was happening - guess it's part of their training .

Nobody knows what is likely to happen on ANY DAY, hence why police need to be prepared and able too respond to an incident immediately!

Train all police to carry firearms, can't believe in the 21st century our police still do not carry a sidearm.

  3. Well there has been a massive and POSITIVE response on FB, so maybe it is just you. You are never happy with anything but you hate Hereford anyway so I don't know why you even bother to comment because I am yet to see a positive response to any topic from you.

Personally, I think the guys that went on the trip have done a fantastic job in representing Hereford, it is brilliant to see some people really making an effort and I hope that this come to fruition. We have a large Polish community in Hereford with some history from the war, embracing this is a good idea and will strengthen our ties.

You took the words out of mouth Paul don't worry about Adrian he is just the local jester post-109-0-65106600-1484557070.png

  4. Just to answer a few comments . Is Max homeless? I only ask because he must be around the meadows 24/7 if he believes that the area is not policed. It is but the problem is that respectable vandals wait until the police/ CSOs have gone out of site to protect other areas before they strike!

DILILLIGAF, it is great that you know the names of vandal proof play equipment. If you will email the name of the manufacturers, I will pass it on to BB! I am sure that the kit will come with something that stops someone getting within ten yards to spray paint on play equipment, and at the same time allow young people to play on it. I look forward to hearing from you.

The labyrinth, as stated in my earlier response is not being paid for by the council tax payers. However as it will be a grass construction, it will cost no more than the rest of the grass cutting, which as readers will know, is a different budget to that of the play areas. H Wilson. I can put you in touch with the local resident who came up with the labyrinth idea, and those locally who he has consulted with. Please email me as I am not often on HV.

Balfour Beatty have a budget of £90k for 60 play areas. This includes maintenance and replacement. A new piece of kit was quoted recently for KG meadow, £9000. A spring for one of the seat things is approx £250. The £90k includes filling in the holes in the rubber beneath the equipment and the cost of the team of 4 who cover the play areas across the county. You do the sums and you can see the problem.

The area does look a little shabby but it remains popular with children, and parents, who I assume are supervising to ensure that accidents are of the minimum. If Hereford City Council can find the income, without increasing the council tax, then we will hope to make the meadows just as popular as they are today but increase the things that there are to do there. Something for everyone!

Thank you for the updates Chris, surprised at your comments that you do not come on to HV much, you were always a regular contributor, what has changed because your obviously still online? Lots of useful information and the reporting of things such as this play area surely makes HV a useful platform for Councillors.

  5. Further to our discussion on the Facebook topic, I also think this is a wonderful idea. Hereford has had a strong Polish community living here since the war and I agree that we should embrace this idea twinning with Jaworzno in Poland.

To be fair to Jim and the other people this is a self funded project and they are doing Hereford proud.  :Thumbs-Up:

  6. A very happy New Year to everyone, particularly those that I fell out with namely, Irena, Mick, H Wilson, Steve, Bill Thomas, Victor, the lists bloody endless, Alex, Paul, and it goes on, Rebecca, two others who's names I've forgotten and Widow bloody Twanky.

You have never fallen out with my bobby, we may not always agree but never fallen out. Happy new year to you and all HV members  :Happy_32:

  7. Another sad day in Europe, like the members above I also predicted this would happen.

Nobody want's to comment now  :Vault: but I will. To me this was obvious from the start. All Angela Merkel has done is made the problem a lot worse. I read all sorts of stories about people burning their fingers to avoid finger their prints being taken, people destroying passports (they have found lots) to hide their identity, why would you do that unless you have something to hide. These people who have no papers should be refused entry into Europe, at least until they can prove who they are and where they are from. I cannot travel even within the EU without proving who I am, so for people coming from outside of the EU this is a no brainer. The real problems have not started yet but I feel that Germany in particular will be sorry in the coming months but certainly a major city within Europe, I may be and I hope I am wrong but time will tell.

My thoughts go out to the victims families and friends.

  8. I think you should look at the prices first, Way over priced and since other stores are having problems, i can not see this one lasting long.

I like the idea of a new store, but it is just the same old thing we have already got apart from having sky high prices, there is nothing then really, so still nothing in the city centre to entice people in.

TBH, I try to avoid town these days, if I go into town it is just the shops I need to go in and then back home, even stopping for a coffee with friends is getting annoying because of the constant noise from the un-required roadworks that is going on.

This is supposed to be a positive discussion, I do not think I have ever experienced anyone as negative as you Adrian. Your not happy about anything!

There is clearly a market for designer brand names but you know better of course.  :Thumbs-Down:

  9. My ex wife worked while married to me.

She left me for another and has never worked since. She married him and he is her carer.

She is epileptic, occasionally having a fit,  which is enough to get her off work.

My kids tell me they have everything, playstation/x box, Sky TV, nice car etc.

To be honest it suits her and her carer not to work, and helps the government because these two are not on the unemployment register!

I find this quite shameful, especially when you see real disabled people with quite severe disabilities working in places like Tesco. It just makes a mockery of the system.

  10. I enjoy cycling the Great Western Way and the access to this large car park seems to go across the new cycle route which then links to the lighted crossing point to go up to Holmer. Surely this site would be better used as social or older people's housing as then there might be enough people to use a pub in the area and it is easy walking into Hereford. Why build a new one when the Heart of Oak has recently closed, and the area has another pub along Grandstand road (well I think it is a pub I have never ventured in there!).

In fairness the pub was there hundreds of years before any cycle path, that said, a road can accommodate both. Regardless of whether or not the Heart of Oak has closed recently (which is news to me) it is down to how people perceive that particular pub, even before the Starting Gate at the top of Holmer extended the hotel into a Premier Inn it was always busy, the same as the Grandstand that is also very busy, so a new pub might be just what this area needs! I wish them well in their application and hope a decent pub offering food and an area for kids opens in the future.

  11. Yesterday, I thought hallelujah because the traffic lights were removed after watching a van sat there for two days doing very little but then I came past last night and now they have closed the opposite of the road, put the lights on and left cones out? Why didn't they just leave that until Monday? Giving the motorist a weekend free of traffic jams.

I notice that there are about 3 hundred cones already out of the Ross Road now for the work to begin this week over that side, at least they have the sense this time to conduct this work between 20.00-0600.

  12. Unless it is a private road owned by Keepmoat - in which case they can do what they want

As far as I am aware this is a public highway and always has been, so I agree with the previous comments in that Keepmoat have no rights with their claims on the signpost that they have placed on the road.
