I have just read the article that is on the front page of the Hereford Times, a good write up to be fair.

The city walls have been neglected for far too long which has been highlighted in these photographs they need a good clean and weeds and bushes removed to expose these once again.

It's not only weeds that are causing damage - this section in Gaol Street is gradually being demolished by idiot drivers. I've flagged incidents of damage in the past to the Council but nothing is done (save for displaced lumps of ancient stone just being taken away and never seen again).

A small wall protection barrier would have done the trick. 

I love your idea of the food vending machine, this could work and also educate people at the same time. I understand that Mill St stores stock food but a visitor to the city wouldn't be aware of this and having food onsite is ideal.

Cyclists should not be allowed to ride on footpaths, they are FOOT paths. I understand all the reason behind this but it is starting to become the norm and I think the police and local authorities needs to do more in the way of enforcing the law and by providing more cycle lanes, which I appreciate is difficult on a lot of narrow roads.

Sadly, I do not think we are shocked anymore. The EU has got a lot more of this to come, all of this was predicted, about time they endorsed a closed door and a deport their families policy.

This is a lovely article and refreshing to read some good news.

I am not moaning ragwort, and you have a valid point but I think we could easily stray away from this topic which is about weeds, trees and general lack of dealing with all the overgrowth in Hereford. You have highlighted another problem in our city LITTER! This also needs addressing but I think it warrants a topic and debate of it's own or would be better added to this one

Isn't that what we pay our Council Tax for? Why isn't the Council managing the contract effectively?

 

It's no use pleading poverty when we know there's money for £250k websites and massive overspends on Council building improvements.

It seems those paid to do the job cannot even be bothered.

I took these pictures yesterday of a young girl with a dustcart going through town not even bothering to pickup any rubbish.

One of the reasons why is because she was on her phone.

I hear that the are quite a few problems at the Oval site

As people have said already, the problems at the Oval redevelopment has been continual. I heard a lot of raised voices and bad language one day at the houses that had just been built across the road from me. the workmen had come to fit the kitchens, the houses was dark inside so the workman switched on the lights only to find they would not come on, on closer inspection it was found the houses had been built and no services had been installed, no gas, electrics or water mains, they had to build a 6ft deep trench to put the services in, this was 3 weeks before the people were given their keys. In others floors were not flat, problems in the bathrooms, kitchens and the gardens. While I was the councillor I was getting calls every day from the residents with one complaint or another. Keepmoat has got a very bad reputation  in other parts of the country, and now they have got the contract for another 800 houses. I hope they have learnt from their mistakes, but I won't hold my breath on that one.

Raised voices and bad language, really Glenda? It is a building site, what do you expect? 

It will go through at the planning committee, half of which are Tory councillors. also Herefordshire Housing bought the site last year, can not find out how much they paid for it yet but I know someone in the know.

Half of which are Tory councillors? What does that have to do with proceedings? 

I have had a look at this today, omg how many drawings! Anyway, most of what I have seen looks quite nice in fairness. 

Good, long overdue, assuming that planning is passed of course.

We are hearing some disturbing reports that Gelpack Hereford told all of their staff to go home at 2pm today and to return for a meeting on Tuesday.

What logic! ha ha unbelievable, okay the local lads run across the train line at Redhill everyday backwards and forwards, they are scrumping in the woods, they have been doing this for a month now without a single accident, not one! Even though people are telling them this is dangerous and an accident just waiting to happen, they still continue, perhaps the Police should issue a statement advising the train drivers to be more observant when approaching this junction. Why because some members don't agree with you? 

Every single former Soviet Bloc nation that's now in the EU is, in terms of its global or regional economic status a second world poor Country. It is! It's no insult. There's absolutely nothing wrong in being poor. The EU, bless the bastards, recognise this reality and hence the reason they take western money and send it east or centrally to help these nations build up their infra structure, put in place social programmes that meet the needs of its people and create economic activity so that the people don't have to leave their country to earn a living.

There's nothing wrong in being poor. I grew up bloody poor. I've served in literally all these places and whilst it ain't bloody particularly cold, not as cold as Siberia, and I've been there to, these countries are poor which subsequently doesn't allow them to treat people of difference and disability in the same way as Britain or other wealthy EU nations.

Bloody hell! Why are wonderful people like Colin's girl and our Irena here. They're here because Britain is rich, the wages and opportunities are greater than in their home country which, in comparison to many western countries, is a poor country and this poverty drives them away to seek a more prosperous life.

I ain't trying to insult anyone here. I'm simply stating the bleeding obvious

Utter pish! Yes these countries have received money from the EU, the same as ALL the other EU countries including the UK but they are also paying their subscriptions to the EU at the same time. Poland is also one of only 5 countries our of 28 countries paying its full percentage to NATO unlike the likes of Germany, France, and Italy to name just a few.

I was in Poland in 2015 and in 2012 and I was amazed how beautiful and modern the country was, far from poor I would have to say.

It was nice to walk around and just see Polish people together with tourists, a lot different to my experience walking around Southall in London this week, it didn't feel like I was in England I can assure you. (now start calling me a racist)

I'd have a pretty good guess there would be 'scammers' in both Countries.

 

UK I suspect because in Poland there are no free hands out like here, that is why you are seeing unused disabled bays perhaps.

You are starting to sound more and more like that stupid dwarf in Scotland now, lets have another GE, we have only just had one and guess what? Labour were over 50 seats behind the Conservatives, over 50 seats mind you! Okay the Conservatives I must admit had a terrible campaign and lost their majority but the public certainly do not need yet another election right now. Everybody and I mean everybody needs to support this government now in negotiating the best Brexit deal they can get. What the 40% of youngsters that Labour gained during their targeted campaign have actually done is to massively weaken our country's strength against the EU Elite for these negotiations.
