  1. I know someone who was compensated because their roof was asbestos the other side of town, it has since been replaced.

As for the garages being used for cars only, when I enquired I was informed that a application form could be sent out and that there was a reduced rent for HA tenants and a slightly higher price for non HA tenants, I asked if I had to use the garage for a car and was advised that what I do with the garage is my business providing it was not used for business or commercial use, so I could use it to store some of my personal items in. Besides, new modern cars hardly fit which someone else has already pointed out.

  2. Now you see, what Mr Corbyn would do in this situation is invite the gentlemen in question (who is clearly suffering from depression or some ADHD bollocks) to sit down around a table over a nice cuppa for a chat to see if we can find a more amicable solution.  :Vault:

Yes I know and that scares me, bloke needs to grow a pair of balls and learn that these people do not understand discussion and debate. He is very up and down, even some Labour MP's are worried about his stance on national security.

Quote above taken from this topic.

    I rest my case.

I hate to say I told you so but read what I wrote back then.

The real problems have not started yet but I feel that Germany in particular will be sorry in the coming months but certainly a major city within Europe, I may be and I hope I am wrong but time will tell.
  4. Hereford Cathedral 'Field Of Remembrance'

    post-157-0-05333100-1446755563.jpg

On Thursday 5 November, a Field of Remembrance opened in the Lady Arbour here at Hereford Cathedral as a county-wide focus for remembrance.

At least 4,052 personnel of the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force and Merchant Navy from Herefordshire have died in service since 1914 and their names are recorded in two Rolls of Honour.

The Field of Remembrance will allow the public to pay their respects to our fallen soldiers and the cathedral have worked in conjunction with the Herefordshire branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) to put this special tribute in place.

Poppies will be planted within the field and each remembrance tribute carries a personal message to someone who lost their life in the service of the country.

There are also books of condolence available to view in the on-site gazebo provided by the RBL, and members of the public will be able to search for, and ensure, their relatives' names are recorded in these books.

Visitors are able to purchase poppies and poppy crosses from the Cathedral shop - apart from on Sunday when they are available from the stewards on duty - and there is an area for people to plant a cross if they wish.

The field was dedicated at a short service at 11am on 5 November and is now open to the public every day from 10am until 3pm.

The Field of Remembrance will close on November 15 and the personal crosses planted by members of the public will then be recovered by members of the RBL, burnt, and the ashes scattered in First World War battlefields in northern France and Belgium.

Speaking about the opening of the Field of Remembrance, The Dean of Hereford, Michael Tavinor, said:

'Hereford Cathedral is proud to join with the Royal British Legion in creating this tribute in the Lady Arbour.

'We hope the Field of Remembrance will be a place of tranquillity and reflection in which to remember those who have fallen in the service of their country.'

  5. Dillgaf,

Oh dear, hear of this sort of thing all the time. Nothing surprises me any more but we can not allow this to go on, it's time to fight back for the vulnerable. If you can let me have some facts etc I can use it when I hope the Social Care and Health Scrutiny Committee take this up.

I agree Chris but there are also many who claim and are not disabled are you interested in investigating those people too?

  6. I have just read that the former Paperway shop in Widemarsh St could soon become a Shellfish Restaurant & Bar, that's different.

    Hereford Times Quote:

Applicant Lauren Waring says the venue would help footfall in the 'old' city centre, create jobs for those in the county and fill an empty unit.

In a document sent to planners with the application, Miss Waring said the business's ethos would be on "fine and affordable dining".

The cafe part of the business would sell the likes of homemade pastries, "high quality breakfasts" plus speciality teas and coffees.

The restaurant would specialise in shell fish with Hereford beef also on offer.

  7. ADDITIONAL CONSULTATION ON THE SOUTHERN LINK ROAD PLANNING APPLICATION.

Herefordshire Council has added a further 19 documents to their Planning Application No. 151314. They include responses from the Council's agent, Parsons Brinckerhoff, (PB), to comments from statutory bodies such as Heritage England and Natural England. PB contend that their assessments of damage to heritage assets and ancient woodland should find favour with the Council's Planning Committee. Here for Hereford contend that the independence of the statutory bodies should be respected and endorsed, rather than challenged by an agent working for the applicant. PB has also provided further illustrations of landscape impacts from the scheme, such as the position of the tall radio mast located above the 9.4 metre high road bridge over the railway (Fig 2.2 rev A). There is a 'Water Framework Directive Assessment' dated September 2015 which makes no mention of the over-arching Nutrient Management Action Plan (November 2014); a report on the awaited archaeological survey which indicates evidence of an iron age fort which will be eradicated if the scheme goes ahead; a transport analysis which fails to highlight the increase in traffic flows on Greyfriars Bridge if the scheme were to be in place; a rejection of the proposal to protect trees at Pykeways, and so on – a lot to comment on. The Consultation period is scheduled to run from 8 October to 5 November. Send comments to kgibbons@herefordshire.gov.uk
