  1. So that's the result and no doubt we will read this in many ways however in a funny kind of way it's a wake up call. Firstly well done Jim for having a go ...third place is a great achievement beating out the Lib Dems who are a fine example of how votes can be lost over time. If the conservatives fail to take action on public service spend and housing for the young then the bluecoats sitting in their rural retreats within this garden of eden called Herefordshire will lose control both nationally and locally and the troubles of the world will seek them out in one way or the other. Labour can take great comfort from what's happened and in this county their vote will increase as the next generation is trapped at home as jobs are hard to come by, frustrated by their lack of mobility because the roads are crap unable to lead their own lives. Sadly most people can't relate to our current PM...she's from a different place, another reality.
  2. It's already way behind the original plan and will no doubt drift further. Traffic five years on ....one can only imagine!
  3. Ok Ragwert...let's see what happens mate.
  4. Maybe if the next government gets a free hand they will crack on with building the bypass and damn the democratic process!! I will say however that I believe Mrs May took a punt on holding this election and we will land up with a hung parliament...what do you think of that then? Not quite the mandate the lady wanted which could mean another election further down the line.
  5. I'm afraid Cambo is right Colin ....and before anyone flips this as a political barb well it's not. We are about to enter a period of time where a certain amount of our freedoms will be lost, privacy not so private and democracy questioned because in order to fight extremists we have to move to their method of play. The extremists have given our political masters a green light to implement their own rule of law or perhaps adjust the law to suit. Before anyone says ...Well if your not doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about well think again...think of Colin,s experience. If we continue on this path where ideology forces us away from democracy and diplomacy then we are destined for failure and our western values will be no different to anywhere else ...just dressed differently.
  6. Of course the alternative is we arm ourselves...is that a good idea?
  7. True Cambo however it was only a bullet from a Police firearm that stopped these people and in doing so prevented perhaps many dozens of innocents losing their lives as was the case in the first instance. There is no rulebook anymore...sorry.
  8. As an aside it was good to see one of the Agusta dropping down on the bridge as opposed to flying around our fare city..go BT.
  9. For a very long time we have resisted the temptation to arm all our police when most western countries have succumbed. I have never been for it but times are changing sadly. The response time for the armed police response in London was incredible however terrorism is like a virus and adapts to its changing environment so an obvious reaction by said killer virus is to choose a place where armed police are lower in number perhaps scattered singularly over a county. No planning ...just a few individuals, kitchen knives and an old Ford transit is all it takes. It's very effective and small multiple stab wounds are difficult to treat and often go hidden or missed. I'm not for it but it's a sad progression of where we are headed, perhaps it might make kids seriously think twice about carrying blades particularly if we get close to the point where you shoot first and ask questions later.
  10. Reaching Out..tucking in Very soon this Cancerarian male will secure his new home. A place where he can reach out but retire especially when he touches something that might cause him pain. With this new, petite shell secured around the frame of a man so nearly lost he will withdraw. He can hide when he likes, move a little perhaps cry in secret. Sure that days and nights run side by side this guy will reach out but as the Autumn turns to Winter he will also tuck away. He fears nothing only the emotion of a love lost that he was powerless to protect. His claws will unleash the pain, the grief, consumed by the hurt and resentment. Sure is of a crabs tale that emotions play a part and those stars above endorse this fact. Sure is that he will continue to rescue, gather and protect those that are in need. Sure is that he also knows that these very things will leave him ...eventually. Something a little different ..perhaps the hard politics of life. All the best GK
  11. As I said before..I'm no fan of labour either but to be honest at the time I don't remember to much resistance from the Conservative back benches when we went into Iraq. As for Europe well there is a fair number of blue that support the pro Europe bag as we know. Tuition fees ..Well has this government reversed this process ...they have had long enough.
  12. I don't disagree H but in a twisted way we may get a similar outcome. My landlady got another mailshot today. The strap line being: Theresa May...strong stable leadership in the national interest. My feeling is that it should read: Weak, unstable dictatorship during national unrest. We shall just have to hope for the best and the saviour!
  13. Mrs May is far more removed from the general public than I realised and to be honest she's been pretty distant even in the election period. If there is no hung parliament then we will be back here before the term is up unless May steps down otherwise we should all be prepared for civil unrest. She may believe in the British people but is she truly representative of the British people because she seems pretty removed to me. A rising star is needed within emerging politics to take the wheel.
  14. Yeah but to be honest Colin the bar isn't set very high in any shape or form...mind you Amber Rudd looks like a useful minder to have. I reckon she might be handy in a fist fight.
  15. In Tupsley there is a lot of visual support for Jim which he will be pleased about. I know it's a small part of the overall constituency but still a showing. Even the leaflet dropped through today doubling up as a poster was well laid out.
  16. Well it's lack lustre to say the least. I don't purchase the Hereford Times anymore so can anyone tell me where I can find anything regarding the JK plan. ...was he in town yesterday? Had expected him to post something on this site or is he reaching out with alternative media perhaps to a younger audience. A great idea but the young revolution will come in five years when it's realised what can be achieved with a single political state. Why?... well the teenagers of today will react to a future without the chance of having their own home, the reliance of the bank of mum and dad gone as the bank will be empty because that security blanket is now used to fund their own care. I won't bang on ..but where's the fight, where is the passion, sadly it seems to have been drained from us and sadly the evidence can be seen on this very site....a far cry from the last election.
  17. Actually at the moment the Trust has locked down on receiving e-mails from outside the Trusts intranet as purely a defensive measure no doubt until such times as IT are happy all is well.
  18. Jim still needs to let the electorate know what he's about ....if there's no visual plan there's no point other than a vanity project. It's a great opportunity but the clock is ticking so come on Jim get stuck in!
  19. Well I need some help with this! There was a great deal of fuss over this with the government trying so hard not to publish before the election! Hopefully looking for something juicy from within.....Well it's absolutely empty...a ring binder folder with signs that someone has withdrawn many of the pages from within. Now I'm no Megilleland so no copy and paste of report here however I'm not sure it's worth it. The government fancies passing on the responsibility to local councils ...Well hahaha to that and as for suggesting that a scheme be set up to trade in old vans for cash ..you are having a laugh. Herefordshire is the land where old white vans come to die which is why the town centre is one of the most polluted. There is no money to give out so if this council wasn't broke it soon would be. What a cracking idea from the team negotiating our Brexit!
  20. I heard the Diane Abbott radio interview..this is one of the more senior shadow ministers in this outfit and of course she has "held" more than a close ear to the main man...shameful.
  21. This is truly painful already. No credible opposition ...the worst in my lifetime. I have had my lovely note through the door from Jesse having just come home from Chelmsford where I have never seen so many high street sleeping bags though the numbers in Hereford are growing as is the begging. The roads are in terminal decline yet we are more bothered about speeding fines I just don't get it. Hereford High Street is starting to fill up with the consequences of national and local government, eventually the charities will run out of cash and then the realisation of how bad things are will become visible. Even on this site there is nothing like the range of contributors as seen a few years ago. We appear to be resigned to our fate...depressing.
  22. I'm hoping that Jim will eat into some of the conservative votes and even if he has perhaps a few conservative traits I still believe he will genuinely represent Herefordshire South as an Independent. We simply cannot maintain the current direction towards a one party state at every level. From a national perspective there is no doubt that there will be only one party in England and Wales. It was a good call by May because the opposition is at its very weakest and once she has this mandate she also expands the term of government which is crucial because it will now run past the Brexit realization whereas this current Government term would have expired right at the moment of exit. All great but I've gotta tell you that inflation is on the rise, higher taxation is imminent and owning your own car or running a company vehicle is going to get very expensive. ...if your still at home with the parents well this next government term will end the dreams of many to own their own home.
