  1. ASFAIK Keepmoat DO own the land at present. This has been acquired since the redevelopment and remains in their possession until handover is completed.... I might be wrong!

They may own the building land but this is a public highway, it is not a private road, so they have no right putting this sign up.

  2. I have no real issue with this garage being built, especially if it in a 24 hour operation like the store. I work shifts and often buy my fuel on my way to or from work during the early hours when it is less busy, now that Tesco close at 10 this will be the nest best option for me.  :Thumbs-Up:

  3. Who lets all these Syrian's into Germany I wonder?

Three people have been seriously injured after a man carrying a backpack "deliberately" detonated a device in a city centre.

A suspected suicide bomber has killed himself and injured 12 others, three seriously, in an explosion outside a wine bar in the German city of Ansbach.

Detectives have said the attacker was a 27-year-old Syrian man who had been denied asylum in Germany.

The pack used to carry an explosive device in Ansbach

Security officials say he detonated an explosive device after being turned away from a music festival being attended by thousands of people because he didn't have a ticket.

Joachim Herrmann, Bavaria's interior minister, said the contents of his backpack had the potential to kill and injure many more victims as they included both explosives and metal parts.

"Due to the situation in Syria, he was not deported. In spite of the rejected application, he was given exceptional leave to remain," Mr Herrmann said.

The suspect was known to the authorities and had repeatedly received psychiatric treatment, including for attempted suicide.

  4. Yet another attack in Germany

    post-1038-0-49564000-1469207775_thumb.jpg

Shots have been fired at a shopping centre in the German city of Munich, according to local police.

German media is reporting that there have been multiple deaths following the shooting at the Olympia-Einkaufszentrum (OEZ) - Bavaria's largest shopping centre.

The Muencher Abendzeitung newspaper is reporting that up to 15 people have been killed in the shooting, while the German NTV says 10 people have possibly died.

A witness live-streaming from outside the mall said: "(The gunman) ran into the underground station. Police are looking for him. I don't have a description of the shooter."

An employee who is still inside the shopping centre told Reuters by phone that "many shots were fired" and they have seen at least one person with serious injuries.

People gathered around the shopping centre

One person has been confirmed dead so far and 10 are injured, according to the AFP news agency.

There are currently no details on who was responsible for the shooting, but Munich Police are urging locals to stay in their homes as a "large police operation" is under way.

Footage from the scene appeared to show people running away to seek shelter - and there are local reports that some civilians are still trapped inside the shopping centre.

A wide area around the complex has been cordoned off.

This is the second attack in Germany in less than a week. On Monday, a 17-year-old Afghan wounded four people in an axe and knife attack on a train near the Bavarian city of Wuerzberg.

It will not end here either, mark my words

  5. Jeremy Corbyn's shadow cabinet are dropping like flies, An emotional Angela Eagle led the latest exodus today, shortly after left-wingers Owen Smith, the work and pensions spokesman, and Lisa Nandy at shadow energy chucked in the towel, having failed to persuade their leader to step down.

That makes over 20 resignations in the last two days, not to mention a raft of lower level shadow ministers and aides.

The sooner he goes the better.
  6. This junction is an accident waiting to happen as too many cars on the A49 regularly jump the lights as they turn to red, when cars are trying to make a right turn. I know various people have asked for filter lights at this junction.

However, as I was on my trusty bike today like AV, I avoided any delay.  :Happy_32:

This is exactly what happens Maggie, I see it all the time and the poor driver trying to turn right only has a limited window to cross before the lights change again.

  7. The problem is that once they have sorted out the casualties which is a priority the police take over with their accident investigations.

What they should do is just clear the road and let the traffic move - have a fast response breakdown truck or similar

Worry about measurements and/or photos later

All that said - if you were on a bike you were not delayed!!! :Winky:

A bike is not good when your on your way home from Birmingham airport is it!

  8. I really don't understand why everyone is so shocked by this.

It is absolutely rife, not only in Hereford but all over the country.

In one or two cases I know people in their mid-30s who have never ever worked a day in their life, have fantastic lives, big TV's etc, and spend more time in the pub than I ever could.

I have pretty much worked every day since I left school, have a decent job, good income and nice house, but I have worked and saved hard all my life to get to where I am and have what I have.

With commuting etc, I do a 65 hour week, when I do have a day off, I sometimes walk in town and go in places like the fleece and the barrels, you will see the same faces all the time, and you know they have not worked in years, are nipping over to the bookies to put their bets on etc, and sometimes helping one another out filling in their claim forms.

There are a lot of hard working people who are not less fortunate, but have worked hard all their lives to have what they have and support their families in the right way.

But there is too much of a mentality in this country still for handouts etc.

It should be very simple, if you don't work because you choose not to-you do not get money.

A lot of people moan about the eastern Europeans coming over-but at least they come here to work, and put in to our economy, not just take out.

I agree, I know people who have been claiming for years, surely after a 2-3 max! They should have their claim reviewed and or stopped.

  9. Another slap on the wrist handed out by the courts with this shockingly lenient sentence that provides absolutely no deterrent to others whatsoever. I know who this this chap is and he drives a very nice Nissan Skyline and guess who has been paying for that..

    Hereford Times report

    Quote

A COUPLE from Hereford have admitted their part in a £64,000 benefits fiddle.

Graham Davies, aged 54, and Maria Thomas, aged 55, were given suspended sentences after pleading guilty to offences of failing to notify the authorities of a change in circumstances over their occupancy of a flat in Blakemore Close, Newton Farm.

Prosecutor Kevin Donnelly told Worcester Crown Court that Davies claimed housing benefit and council tax benefit in respect of the flat, owned by Thomas. He also claimed income support.

The pair, who had no romantic association, cohabited the flat and Thomas paid the bills for water, TV licence and the mortgage.

It had been calculated that Davies was paid £20,103 in income support. With housing benefit and council tax, the pair’s total bill for benefits was £64,255.

Mark Thompson, mitigating, said Thomas had a fulltime job as a carer.

Davies was also a carer for his mother. The case had been hanging over them for two and a half years and they had started to repay some of the money.

Recorder Anthony Lowe said the pair had systematically claimed benefits of £64,000 and he felt the public could rightly be outraged.

The public purse had been deprived, but he was suspending the 12-month sentences for two years.

Thomas must do 180 hours unpaid work while Davies was told to carry out 240 hours.

He ordered each of them to pay £3,250 costs

Here is a photograph of his rather nice car captured with Google Street View

    post-109-0-65097400-1465886522_thumb.png

Why were they not ordered to pay all of the money back? A large preportion of this fraudulently claimed money has gone a long way to paying off that mortgage.
  10. Word on the street - Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation was being used on an infant. The land Ambo was used to convey patient on Blues & Twos to county hospital. No further information yet.

HMed06, HMed09 & sometimes HMed03 are usually used to transfer critical cases to better equipped trauma hospitals like Birmingham children's and Bristol Royal.

I think your info was wrong buddy http://www.herefordtimes.com/news/14526617.Air_ambulance_called_after_boy_fell__approximately_20_feet_/?ref=mr&lp=11

  11. Whilst I agree that it is a completely cynical way of making money from an easy target, if you're sticking to the speed limit there won't be any problem.

Still a quick money making exercise looking to catch out the motorists doing a few mph over the limit. They should be spending more time catching the real dangerous idiots driving at more than double the speed limit thru the city during the evening and early hours! Okay for the van driver to mount and drive along the footpath I notice.

  12. And so they should Colin! The Ukraine and Poland are first cousins. Just like we are with the Welsh, the Irish or Scottish. Luckily for the Ukraine they are acceptably white Caucasian, predominantly Catholic and like Poland have no historical experience of multiculturalism or integration from outside global influences and this is why they've been welcomed into Poland. GIven that millions upon millions of Poles have abandoned their country for a better life in the West they've now got plenty of living space to accommodate their neighbours. Actually, I'd imagine that poor Poland, stripped bare of its young and brightest by the EU, would appreciate a million Ukraineans wanting to enter their country and actually being prepared to stay there and not leave. Thinking about it some more, if the million Ukraineans can find work, it'll boost the Polish economy that's become so dependant upon EU handouts and a fiscally motivated hope by the Polish government that their citizens stay away, don't come back because their absence allows for some slack in the Polish infra structure and public services that allow them to host a million people from the Ukraine.

bobby one minute you are telling us all how much of a drain east europeans are on the NHS etc but now you are saying the over a millions Ukrainians will boost the Polish economy, well isn't the same happening here in poor old UK?

  13. I'm not surprised at all that they have not been replaced looking at what happened to the last ones

Well I feel sorry for the other people renting these garages, if they cannot be bothered to replace broken doors they may as well knock the lot down.

  14. If those countries want to be considered part of Europe, then they SHOULD be willing to accept refugees. The fact that they are not, is quite frankly shameful.

The only pattern I see forming, is that all bigots like to sing the same song.... regardless of where they are from.

No country should be forced or fined for doing what they think is best for their own country, What is wrong with France it is a huge country, why are they not hoping these people temporarily, Greece and Italy could also offer accommodation, oh wait a minute, sorry my mistake these are dangerous war torn countries of course how stupid of me.

  15. Paul @ K, May the God you worship bless you both. If ever one of these refugees rapes me in the local baths, bombs my house, forces me to convert and compels me to embrace the Sharia and kick my wife senseless and hate as you both do, I'll crawl on my hands and knees into that Old Market development and apologise to everyone for holding onto my belief that they and us are one of the same and there's nothing to be frightened of.

I will hold you to that bobby.

Have you seen Denmark has started doing an age test on all these so called children and shock horror 72% yes 72% were over 18 so before you start lecturing us on as if Isis would use children(they do) these aren't all children. Wake wakey!

  16. In the last week, despite being members of the Schengen Zone and bound to the demands of Brussels, the Polish Government have announced not one single fleeing Mediteranean migrant will be welcomed and taken in by their Country.

Some members of their Government have said the migrants will be unable to assimilate into their society, whilst some commentators have been less kind implying the migrants bring with them disease and parasites.

Tough harsh words! Some will say this is good leadership and gives their people what they want. Others, like me will say that Poland, and some other East European countries are still unable to free themselves from their isolated social and political ideological past that has prevented their people from breaking free of their insular way of seeing the outside world.

It seems to me that Poland still refuses to countenance a future society that could eventually become multicultural but and yet, at the same time, wants to move about Europe and settle freely within societies that are multicultural. I can only see it one way. Poland wants to take but doesn't want to give and more than ever Poland and other East European nations want to remain White Caucasian Catholic.

It's also noticeable to me that some members still paste the odd negative news story that paints the migrants in a poor light so that their point of view can be justified to the others who think differently. And yet they've no concerns about white Caucasian people doing equally bad things. For me I see it's all about colour, ethnicity and even religion. In the United Kingdom today there are at least three hundred EU migrants serving life tariffs for violent crime. Does that mean all migrants are a danger to me and have a predisposition to commit crime? No of course not. My point is we are tolerant and forgiving toward the EU migrants who have done bad things yet we can't show a little compassion to those who've not yet managed to get into our society.

The decision by the Germans to welcome all the fleeing migrants was clearly ill conceived and the consequences were in many cases disastrous but at least Germany tried to do something good and helpful to the problem rather than close their eyes and watch the carnage unfold. Every country in the West have tried in their own way but if you look East to the place where there is now room and living space, they've done nothing and will continue to do nothing because they've no idea why modern societies have evolved to thinking that multiculturalism is nothing to be frightened of. The whole modern way of thinking has passed the East by. They've never had to address racism or bigotry within their societies because they've never learned to live alongside people with a different skin colour or worship a different God. Unlike the West, the East have remained locked inside an old way of seeing the outside world and that's why they think the migrants will bring with them disease and parasites.

Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic have all refused to take these migrants and as far as I am concerned are protecting their borders which they have a right to do. You don't see many muslim terrorists active in these countries... The other reason is that the UK offers benefits! Which most of these other countries do not! Do you see a pattern forming here yet? Well done to all of these countries for standing your ground and refusing to be bullied by the idiot Angela Merkel. She has tried to appear to be a saviour and hero and it has backfired on her in Germany, now she want to distribute her guests all over the EU. Germany will face attacks next, mark my words some nutter refugee will start killing people before long

  17. Cameron is not a leader but a spineless bloke who rolls over every-time some liberal looney lefty pressure group demands something .

They are teenagers sent to get residency by the extended family - then the whole family will come over as soon as they are established. It is about time our politicians started thinking about the people who elected them instead of sending billions of pounds to people who hate us .
