I suppose we're all looking to the authoritys to do something about this outrage. But its OUR responsability to do something about it, walk, cycle, take the bus!

Direct services provided by direct labour will never happen under a conservative administration, even if it's better and cheaper it goes against every fibre of Tory philosophy. WE MUST GET PROFIT INTO THE HANDS OF PRIVATE BUSINESS they will say.

I'm hoping ukip is going to eat into the cons majority, that way labour will get in. I can't take anymore public service cuts, was watching Tory conference today and they plan another 25bn in cuts! They want to turn us into a 3rd world country, No public services, ultra low wages, competing with the likes of india and china. I believe public services enhance peoples lives and our surroundings.

This is a real big problem, its unfair to Herefordshire council cos people are coming here to retire, escape to the country style, and then depending on a local adult social care system they did not pay intoe. I see only 1 solution and that is to nationalise adult social care.

Herefordshire has an interesting houseing market, We have the 2nd lowest wages in the country after myther tyfil (have i spelt that right?) and some of the most expensive houseing in the country if you take london and the south east out of the equation. So what does this mean? 2 things, There is great demand for houses here - people want to live here, reflected in house prices. 2nd they are NOT being bought by local people - they can't afford them. A few more of my worthless toughts.. I travel around the country a lot with my job, I have to do that to earn a decent wage which i can't get locally, and let me tell you most if the UK is a DUMP, I come back to the ford and its is a wonderful place! People from all over the country come to live in this county becuase they want to escape from the dump that is there rest of the uk and they bring their fabulous weath (by our standards) with them. But they play in a different marketplace to the localy, They buy up all the rural cottages, big manor houses, ex-farm houses, detached house in desirable villages etc. Then the localls are forced out and made to live in the city and market towns in small overpriced affordable houseing becuase they are prices out of their rural communitys. Following on from earlier posts, i can see the second market, the small overpriced urban housing collapsing in value if we leave the eu and cheap leabour supply dries up. But the exclusive rural market will continue to thrive at an amazing rate.

Hang on a minute, are we paying £238,864.49 A BLOODY MONTH Whitecross@Stepnell Ltd for that PFI building? Now this school is an academy and not under local authroity control so why are the local authority paying for their building? GOD DAM IT PEOPLE, When the council look to save money they fire a couple of valuable hard working people on minimum wage and just ignore things like this.

I admit this idea has it merits, It can seem pointless sat at lights for no good reason but its not as simple as just turning off the lights for a few hours, there are many changes that would need to be made to the road layout for this to be a workable proposal. This is the sort of thing the highways agency will use as an excuse to dismiss this proposal unless you come up with viable solutions as part of your proposal. I can see the edgar street roundabout idea working, Keep the lights at eign st. jnct as paul suggests. close the pedi crossing on the a49 northbound c'way outside debenhams < although would this ever be allowed?

Side roads, Will this go on forever? The crossings marked are over the A49, A465, A438. What do you propose to do about the inconvient truth that these crossings are here? Close them?

I for one hope ukip do not get in, It would be a disaster for herefords agriculture based economy which relys so heavily on cheap immigrant labour, If that labour supply was taken away our farmers would not be able to compete in a global economy. That part about increasing pensions worrys me too, In my personal experience of meeting people in the county, and i know this does not apply to everyone and is a generalisation but the retired pensioners do alright for themselfs. Its working famillys that really struggle. Problem is the grey vote is lucrative and its a cheap way to get more votes as younger people are less likely to vote. The idea of every getting the cons out of north herefordshire is just a dream, I personally am a socialist and the green part seem to best represent my views so good luck to them.

DOH! Go check it out, look at it, figure out how it works. Yes many pedestrain corssings are independant, but many of them at the major juntions being discussed here are an integrated part of the traffic lights.

How can you keep on the pedestrian lights and turn off the traffic lights? they are all part of the same system! they are one and the same system, when you press the cross button it alters the phasing to stop the traffic lights on red for a longer period. there are a few pelican crossing which are independant but are'nt we talking about the major junctions like asda and edgar street?

How do you propose to turn off the traffic lights but keep them on for pedestrans, the pedi crossings are integrated into the sequencing of the traffic signals, you can't just turn all the lights back on when a pedi comes along, the traffic will not be expecting it. It seems most of the traffic lights in hereford are there for the safety of pedestrians and cyclists and are not there for the benefit of mostorists, you are after all encased in steel and therefore less vulnerable than the other road users. I'm still hoping if the traffic gets bad enough more people will walk cycle or bus, maybe thats the councils cunning plan!

Only the 3rd time in 5 years this exact same section of pipe has been repaired! Time for a new one, nah, bodge it.

Don't know why people oppose having black bins? In my old street when we put out black bags the seagulls would rip them apart, scattering the contents all over the street and with the type of neighbourhood it was everyone just left it there and said its someone elses problem cos i can't be arsed to clean it up even though its my rubbish. Also fattend up the gulls so they could breed more and encouraged them to nest there too.

Maybe the worcester, gloucester and cheltenham shopping centres have noticed a drop in their business since OLM opened and are now advertising to try and win back customers from hereford?

Chairman of a taxi company and also works as a taxi driver. surely a conflict of interest! Withdrawl of evening bus services will be a real blow to some people, i used to live in kington and I relied on the evening buses to go out in the evening and various other social things, never really used the buses during working hours. If i still lived there now it would be a disaster, i would be socially isolated, who can afford a taxi back to kington?

Selfish reasons I would guess, More houses = your house is worth less. See theory of supply and demand. Also others are just scared of change for no good or rational reason. Also, Finally, in some cases people don't like their view being spoilt, What they fail to realise is that they have absolutly no right to a view of anything that they do not own. You are foolish to pay extra for a house with a view unless there is a legallly binding guarentee of the view to preserved for your enjoyment. HateNIMBYS!

The problem with lane guidance is many of us locals do not recognise the road numbers, Say we want to head up edgar street, Not everyone knows that is called the 'A49 NORTH' and most people do not know that dual carriageway bit that goes around town is called that 'A438 EAST' outsiders following their satnat will be even worse because that don't care what road they need to use, only the general direction they need to go in, their just zombie slaves to their satnav masters. I don't see a solution to this problem? Lane 4 northbound onto the roundabout needs to be corrected, it does indeed just take you back down where you came from and not a49s as stated unless you cut across lanes and cause an accident. Another gripe is people heading a49 north at starting gate roundabout and using the second lane, many a near miss here, even though lane guidance is clear. Also the new lane they added on a49 heading south to 'relive congestion' doesn't work because hardly anyone uses it, even though lane guidance is clear. well thats my rant for the day.

I don't think telford can be considered to be in OUR region, Its 2 hours drive away on a good day and will have no effect on us, It will affect shrewsbury though. Our catchment area is herefordshire and mid-wales. I really don't like idea of a marches region, hereford and shrewsbury have very little to do with each other. We have more of an affinity with worcester and gloucester, IE the three counties.

How can we regain the spirit of public service now when they are all run like businesses? Whats the solution? Seems like we have to scrap what we have and start again. If you think the council is bad look at what their doing to the NHS!

So if they have to keep paying for it might as well carry on using it! common sense. Where do they propose moving the magistrates court to? and why?

Think its safe to assume it was filled in considering they diverted that massive sewer right through the middle of it.

Lack of creative ideas or forward thinking on the part of highways planners. Just default to traffic lights every time, Its getting serious. People will only come shopping to hereford once, They will never return.
