  1. Some really informative links here, Megilleland! Thanks.
  2. Best of luck Colin! Try and take a clipboard as well....and something laminated, that always looks important!!
  3. Trees Trees Trees! I love 'em, I can't get enough of 'em, and we definately need a whole lot more of them to stop Our City resembling a concrete jungle. There was a great little story about a family who are giving away a thousand trees to folk who wanted to plant one.....surely a smattering of these about the place would be a start? Wouldn't cost a bean, and would make the place look and feel a whole lot better.
  4. HT is certaintly starving us of many highly commentable stories...having just been over there, and thrown my two pence worth in, I have come up with a plan! I am going to leave it alone for a whole week. I am not even going to look at it - not even a sneaky peep! Then view it after a week, to see if there was anything at all worth my time posting on. If the answer is a resounding "No!" I shall cut my losses and move in here permanently. I don't have the time or inclination to post on two sites, and at the moment, my money's on Hereford Voice. We shall see what results this experiment throws up.....!
  5. GridKnocker! You found the picture! Just when I thought this could get no better....it did! Brilliant and inspired!
  6. You can absolutely count on my support, what's the plan Harry?
  7. No No Ubique!! You are forgetting something! Should this jaw dropping story have found its way onto HT on-line, comments would never, ever be allowed! Far too contentious.....there could be complaints, about the mendacious types who rather enjoy this sort of thing! Leave it here, in the safe haven of Hereford Voice!!
  8. Simon, I think you should post your Positive Hereford contribution on here anyway....there are a few foolish folk who haven't quite got to grips with the whole Face -Tubing experience, which is absolutely ridiculous...I mean who on earth doesn't embrace technology in this way??? Certaintly I don't fall into this category....!!!!! Honestly, this isn't a selfish request from a complete technophobe, perish the idea that computers hold any fear for me....!!
  9. Oh Gridknocker! This has not disapointed! I have been looking forward to reading this all week! Absolutely brilliant - I just love all the "factoids", that lend themselves to such a realistic portrayal of life at Plough Lane HQ!! Your attention to detail is breathtaking! The acronym, the interview, the lunch, the payoff!! Wonderful, simply wonderful!!
  10. I would always rather see shops used than left empty, and I really like the East European shops that have opened, it adds to the mix! What we need in Hereford is the right mix/balance. That means Independant shops, a selection of High Street/chain stores, and a revival of the quirky shops...not so many of those around now sadly. Anyone remember the Kasbah? It was great. With the demise of The Dinosaur Market, there are ,well no, "quirky" ones left!! We have some great coffee shops, and the regular markets are a definate draw. Yes...getting the mix right is key! I love Megillelands idea of having more green space within the Town area...this could really be utilised for music, social gatherings,or just somewhere nice to eat your spicy bean burger!
  11. I sense there may be trouble ahead.......!!
  12. Noooo GridKnocker! That is not an image I want in my head! Anyway, I always thought Our Bobby had a penchant for Liz Hurley!!!
  13. Bobby, absolutely agree....I refuse to not walk the streets of where I live, and I continue to shop as much as I can in town. But it feels like a losing battle at the moment. We don't just need to reclaim our streets- we need to reclaim our City!! This council may have let the rot set in, but I strongly feel that we can turn it around - wether that's in my lifetime or not is up for discussion!
  14. Afternoon Aylestone Voice! Quite agree with finding a way to move forward....hopefully that will be before 2015, but we'll have to wait and see! In amongst all the moans and groans, there have been quite a few really good, decent, common sense ideas put forward...its not just "No, don't like that." We have come up with a few solutions ( Colin and his traffic lights being one example that springs to mind) I just don't think things will change drastically, until the Conservatives move aside and make way for some new blood.
  15. Yes, I refer to it as HMP Hereford! Back to the topic in hand though! I am a naturally optimistic person, have always lived on the sunny side of the street, drinking my half full glass of red wine! However, there is a big difference in optimism and being un-realistic. The slant that all is good, nothing to moan about here folks, creates the impression that we really should all be thankful for what we have in Hereford, and a lot of people are doing a very good job...queue back slapping all round. In that self-congratulatory tone, there's not much difference! If I was trying to find a positive....well, at least it doesn't cost us £74,000 a year! (And its not pushed through my letterbox,as an unwanted gift!)
  16. I still haven't recovered from the addition of the dreaded "Thumb Vote"!!
  17. Well....I haven't abandoned High Town! I called in at The Butter Market for a cauliflower and broccoli for yet another exciting vegetarian feast....!!
  18. Afternoon Simon, and a very warm welcome! Still can't find it - I shall use the handy link you have so kindly provided!
  19. Biomech - this is exactly what I have suggested, both on here and HT. Two of the best, for the newly slimmed down cabinet, of Tory, IOC and Independant. All major decisions to go to full council. This seems to be the only truely representative way - unless I am over simplifying things...???
  20. I have been back to HT, and searched high and low for this, but to no avail. Unless this is somehow hiding in plain sight, it would appear that it has already faced the wrath of the deleter's button.....!!
  21. Wow! A superb post from Simon! I am in awe......it's OK Bobby, he's not going to wrestle you to the ground for either your crown or quality supply of diazepam, but he's very, very good!! Megilleland, can I ask what thread this was on - have been on there today and not seen it??
  22. Brilliant Bobby! You'll never tear me away from an irresistable story about a pumpkin on a post box - these are highlights for me! Who can forget Smudge? The impromptu breakfast survey? The exciting weather warnings that get Louis Walsh and myself almost hyperventilating at the prospect of wearing a pacamac?? Or the plethora of bad jokes any time a fish and chip shop gets a mention?? But a little bit of balance would be nice!! Have just read a post from Simon Brown over on HT, who feels that HT are moving more towards their Facebook comments. He may well be right, in which case the decision would be made for me!!
