  1. I have posted this because this "Charity " SUPPORT THE HEROES set up their stall outside Laula Ashley Maylord / Commercial Road Hereford selling Draw tickets for £2.50 each . It is a UK Draw so you can imagine how many tickets are sold .The person manning the Stand takes 33% commission , paid in cash . The Draw is every two months and the first prize is a TV ! The last time they submitted their accounts to the Charity Commission they reported MONEY IN £548,440 MONEY TO WORTHY CAUSES £15.153 , the experts say that is 3% . Going on from that there is a local connection to these Charity Organisers - you will recall that William ALDRIDGE was the youngest Soldier killed in Afgan. The same week 7 other members of our Armed Forces were also killed in Afgan. A short time later the mothers of these young lads and ladies got together and formed AFGAN HEROES , for the first two years they were really positive and raised over £2million . Then a man called Tony Chadwick got involved with his Company, Prize Promotions Ltd. of Blackpool selling Draw tickets , it then went all downhill and he declared himself bankrupt. He then set up another Company with a friend called SUPPORT THE HEROES - using a Company called Targeted Managements. Now the Charity Commission are looking into that Company To my simple mind I think that the Charity Commission are toothless tigers - the Military Charity I am involved with have been complaining about Support the Heroes for at least two years to no avail. The Charity Commission are also looking into a new Charity " Our Local Heroes Foundation " who's fundraising is managed by Target Management and Tony Chadwick has a finger in the pie !

    Begging

GK my concern is that whilst there are genuine poor ,homeless people seriously down on their luck begging in the City there may well be others who have found a very good way to earn tax free money who, at the end of the day go home to a warm house , perhaps not even in the County . Going on from that if anybody comes across Veterans who are homeless and in need of help, and assistance guide them to the SSAFA local 24/7 helpline 01432 273932
  3. In Wales they have just passed a law which will allow people with temporary injuries or illness which restricts mobility to be eligible for a blue disability parking badge for 12 months . This will help those recovering from or waiting for treatment . It will include severe leg injuries , stroke , head injuries ,spinal trauma and cancers effecting movement etc. Appears to be a very good decision which should , to my mind be made available in England - but being aware of how long it took England to follow Wales relating to plastic carrier bags it won't happen in England overnight.
  4. e My Surgery is 4 miles away with a 3 week waiting list for initially appointments plus I have been referred to the Surgery Physiotherapy following a slip / fall I had on 10th July , have been advised that he will contact me in mid October to make an appointment in November ! It's all going to worms , fast .
  5. Clarkester , time will tell , hopefully one of the knowledgable Posters will ascertain how much they have shoved into their cassock to be used , as you say , charitable concerns !
  6. Just wondering what the owners of the land will do with the money received from the sale of the land ........?
  7. Just wondering why all the road works , single line traffic heading into the City outside Yates for last three days .Is it just a co- incidence or have " they " started early ?
  8. At least 4 friends I know book , rightly or wrongly a Dr appointment a month just in case - they then cancel the appointment if not required- the suggestion is that more are doing this to the determinant of people in real need.
  9. Consulation Sept 8th .........Plans for view the same day ! ..........maybe I am wrong but it's more like this Council we have to live with !
  10. I was asked last week if I still want to be Father Christmas at our local school in December . I have done it for the last 8 years . They must have been Armed Forces trained - ' failing to plan is planning to fail ! ' Of course I accepted their request.
  11. We received , through the post the Barnardo's Christmas 2016 Christmas Card brochure yesterday , so it appears that round about the end of August / early September the Christmas stuff must / should be on the Shop floor or in the post .
  12. Dave99 , whilst I can agree in principal with you about the volume of objections to knocking the building down etc I have a bit of indecision because , as we know ,for whatever reason there is a shortage of Social Housing in the City - my hope is that HH convert the building rather than knocking it down -
  13. Had a letter today from Hereford Housing advising me of the Consultation , stating that it's a wide consulation which they encouraged all residents in the area to engage in the process - That's great but I live 5 miles from the City Centre - I presume I received the letter because I objected to the Fire and Rescue knocking down the Working Boys Home ................ Going on from that has anybody from HC and HH said that they intend to knock down the building or are they going to convert the building into apartments ? I accept fully that more Social Housing is needed in the City .
  14. Today , to my knowledge the Traffic Lights in Commercial Road / Union Walk were not working at 0845 until approx 1140 when an Engineer attended and switched them back on. So on a fairly busy Saturday traffic was moving very well along the main road as was the traffic exiting Union Walk onto Commercial Road . In my opinion this is a set of TL that could be removed . This junction is really no different than Monkmoor St , traffic from both junctions turn both left and right. The only difference is that Monkmoor St does not have TL
  15. Thanks Ragwert , my comment has not been reinstated - it complied with the HT code , all I said was that I wonder how someDefendants think of what to say in Court -" I felt tired so I stopped at a road junction and fell asleep ! ". Doh !
  16. Why are the HT allowing comments on some Drink Drive Cases and not others. When I first read the below a couple of hours ago article comments were allowed - now mine has been deleted and " Comments are closed " it did flash through my mine that perhaps the Reporter uses the Managers restaurant ........I am sure that's not true . I am sure that the HT can defend their decision - but they should be consistent From the HT website today ...... A RESTAURANT manager was found to be three times over the drink drive limit after police found her car blocking a junction. Erika Biro, 30, of Chesham, Buckinghamshire, was found asleep inside her Mini which was on the B4224 How Caple to Fownhope Road just after 3.30am on June 27. The manager at the Old Market branch of Chimichanga in Hereford admitted to drinking three large glasses of wine earlier in the evening
  17. This is very good advice ( plus leave bowl of water out for hedgehogs )
  18. Sadly a Soldier from the Rifles died on the Brecon Beacons yesterday , the hottest day of the year - just hope that it wasn't due to the heat. RIP Soldier Duty Done

    Hedgehogs

This is just a reminder ,thank you. The photo of the four little hogs shows the hoglets rescued from The Oval ,Newtin Farm. Both they and Mum are doing very well . As an aside Mrs Ubique has never ,in the 10 years she has been rescuing hedgehogs had so many hoglets weighing under 200 gms. ( now had 20 ) plus 6 adults. See FB Hollycroft Hedgehog Rescue
  20. That plane/helicopter just taken off towards the City
  21. Must also give thanks to the wives / partners and their children who say goodbye when he goes on deployment - the people left at home , in the main have no idea where their men folk have gone to , what they are doing and when will they return. Enjoy the weekend and take some time to think of the Fallen members of the Regiment over the last 75 years
  22. It looks as if "they" are flytipping opposite the entrance to Tesco Bewell St . Doesn't give a good impression for the City's application to be City of Culture . Photo to follow ( I think ! )
  23. The very same helicopter/ plane flew over our home this morning and landed at a location near us.
  24. No not Belmont- Kings St / Bobblestock - it appears , sadly the norm - this could be one of the many reasons why A and E are so busy .
  25. Mrs Ubique has just phoned our Doctor to make an appointment which is not classed as urgent but needs to be seen fairly quickly . Some members will know that a couple of months ago she had surgery at the County. The first available appointment they can offer her is the 26th July ! We are now driving upto the Drop in Centre at Asda - if she has to wait a couple of hours it's better that over 2 weeks.
