We are all doomed ! From FB posted 1115 today Hereford Town Hall office and Shire Hall are currently without communications. If you wish to register a birth, death or marriage, please contact Leominster (01432 261555) or Ross-on-Wye (01432 260854) registration services between 10am and 2pm.

That's spooky- I can get onto the Council website. My problem is them accepting that I have paid my January Council Tax . I alway pay monthly and luckily save the receipts - they have a copy of the January receipt but after 9 days have not had the decency to apologise and agreed that Jan payment was paid. ( I only found out that they had no record of my Jan payment when I went to pay Febs dues - their amount outstanding was more that what I thought it should be )

Not sure what's going on - I can visit the website so to my mind it's up and running ( I think ! )

That brings up that well known reply from the film Airplane - " Don't call me Shortly " ( Apologies , couldn't resist it )

Just checked and " Welcome to our new website " ! Greeted me. , If it is new just appears to be the wrong time to change it , thought that it would have been best during the night - but what do I know - perhaps I missed the information stating that the website would be down before it happened ?

I am surprised that the HT have named this person because it doesn't appear that he has made an appearance in Court yet - I presume that he was charged by the Police and bailed to the Magistrates Court - of course I could be completely wrong .

Slim , you are ,to my mind so right - I do not have grandchildren but if I did the last place I would want to take them at age 10 is to Hereford Football Club if F ing and Blinding is the norm and apparently acceptable . As an aside in Jan 1957 I joined the Boys Regt RA at Bradbury Lines Hereford at the age of 15 yrs and 1 month - for the first year if you were heard to swear by one of the Regular Staff you had to report to the Education Block in the evening for an English lesson.

Greenknight - what you are suggesting is ( some say sadly) very possible and appears very practical. You have been through a lot in 2016 - look forward ,as we know you are to 2017 - a new era in your life - hopefully you are staying in the area so that we , as a gang from the past , meet up in the New Year .

Colin , super photographs , thank you for sharing them . Any idea of the cost involved and ( it might sound a silly question ) will it fly again - I accept that there are so many restriction on vintage aircraft flying .

How long does it take to get our roads repaired asked Megilland ....... Difficult question but perhaps " they " think that it's cheaper to pay out rather than fill potholes - wonder about the safety of cyclists ! Re Ragwerts comments , I have noticed that signs are being plonked at junctions stating words to the effect " No white lines at junction " I presume that covers them should there be a claim !

Called into Yates a few days ago - very impressed with both the decor and the pleasant Staff - both far better than a licensed premises further down the road !

Cambo , do not know - it appears that his Companies were all based in the Blackpool area , I am sure that with a bit of research by you or Megilland will come up with the answer .

The TV programme which brought this into the public domain was an investigative BBC Scotland programme , they initially highlighted a male on Blackpool Sea Front selling wrist band to support "'Work Initiatives " . The seller was not and had never been a member of the Armed Forces . You guessed it the " Work Initative " was his and he kept all the money collected - Police and Benefit Agencies are dealing . Re the Charity Commission , I gathered from the programme that if you fill in the Application Form correctly , your in one is over £5000 , submit Annual Accounts , give a penny or two to your stated Charity you have complied D with the Regs. Further to to that , the Charity that I am involved with is SSAFA The Armed Forces Charity , we receive Car Parking and milage expenses , we do not have any paid staff in the County . Over 80p in the £1 goes to helping Serving Members of the Armed Forces and Veterans.
