  1. 'H', I'm not trying to get you in a stranglehold here but why exactly do you think that the Liverpool supporters need to apologise. What do you think that they did that requires them to say sorry?

In fairness, I don't see anyone asking for an apology but H.Wilson has made some valid points. There was clearly a cover up here but I do not believe that all 100% of the fans were blameless and if you do, then obviously you never attended any of the big games at that time.

  2. A Ledbury town councillor has been forced to apologise after she tried to ban Union Jack bunting being put up to celebrate the Queen's birthday - in case it upset FOREIGNERS. What the hell?

    post-169-0-55371600-1460820365.jpg

Councillor Liz Harvey voted against having the patriotic bunting, saying visitors to the town would mistake the red-white-and-blue flags for the National Front.

She made the bizarre comments during a town council meeting to discuss ways to mark the Queen's 90th birthday in the Herefordshire town of Ledbury.

Cllr Harvey, who runs the It's Our County party, said: "If I could make one plea, please no red, white and blue bunting."

  3. The council have decided to install CCTV cameras at the Hereford Cemetery on a temporary basis.

See quote from the Hereford Times below:

CALLS for CCTV cameras to be installed at a Hereford cemetery where thieves damaged and stole personal items from graves have been answered.

Herefordshire Council announced this week that it would be installing the cameras in the children's section at Hereford's Crematorium and Cemetery in Westfaling Street on a temporary basis.

Security patrols in the area are also going to be increased following discussions between the council, police and the security firm.

It comes after a campaign and online petition calling for the measures to be introduced received 1,833 signatures.

The Hereford Times has previously reported how families were left devastated after discovering sentimental ornaments and items had been smashed and stolen early last month.

In October 2014, vandals targeted nine Jewish headstones in a secluded, separate part of the cemetery in an attack.

A police investigation failed to identify the culprits, and at that time Herefordshire Council indicated no increased security measures would be put in place to deter the perpetrators from returning.

But in its statement this week, the council said additional security measures would be introduced over the coming weeks.

It said: "Herefordshire Council would like to extend its sympathy to the families concerned at this difficult time.

"Following ongoing discussions and a meeting with council staff, the police and the security company about the best way of securing the cemetery area, it has been agreed to increase security patrols in the graveyard and to introduce temporary CCTV in the coming weeks, which will hopefully help prevent this type of unacceptable behaviour again."

Mooted proposals for a light tramway system to run along Hereford's Great Western Way have been ruled out by Herefordshire Council. Do you agree with this decision? Your vote

    • Yes – it would cost too much and is not a viable transport solution
      41%

    • No – it would be a good, cost-effective way to link both sides of the city
      55%

    • I don’t know.

  5. I took a few photographs this afternoon to show how bad the incline is with several bends and a nasty sharp bend on an adverse camber at the bottom of the close.

    attachicon.gifGlastonbury Close.jpg

Walking up the close, this is the sharp bend on the adverse camber

    Walking further around

    attachicon.gifGlastonbury Close bend.jpg

Another good angle looking up hill on a bend

    attachicon.gifGlastonbury Close2.jpg

Your can clearly see it is quite a steep incline this is where the bin lorry was slipping backwards last winter on the ice.

    attachicon.gifGlastonbury Close3.jpg

You can see the top of Glastonbury Close here where it joins Sydwall Road.

View from Sydwall Road into Glastonbury Close

This photo was taken in Sydwall Road looking down into Glastonbury Close

    attachicon.gifGlastonbury Close downhill.jpg

A little further, you can imagine how dangerous it is when it is icy, it is like an ice rink!

    attachicon.gifGlastonbury Close4.jpg

Another view looking back down the close a little further along

    attachicon.gifGlastonbury Close downhill2.jpg

A little further towards the bend

    attachicon.gifGlastonbury Close bend3.jpg

You can see the adverse camber coming up

    attachicon.gifGlastonbury Close main bend.jpg

Adverse camber is pretty obvious from this angle.

Ice rink indeed, lots of cars just waiting to be hit when t's icy looking at these photo's, how did the visiting Cllr's come to their decision not to provide grit bins following a request from the public? They complain that hardly anyone attends their meetings and when someone does attend with a legitimate and sensible request it gets denied or if you want to dress it up it gets deferred. Where is the common sense here?

  6. Emerge together ? What does that mean?

I think it means that dippy has completed her tick box exercise just ignore obviously looking for reactions, don't play to it. With regard to the crime, there has been little communication from the police and I think more information is needed, lets hope that this crime is solved and solved quickly.

  7. Good that the council will manage to find all these homes when my niece has been waiting for a few years with her child to be housed, that is all I am saying. I am not commenting anymore on this subject i don't want to be accused of alongside other members who share my views of ganging up on others.

    Bless Blame Angela Merkel.

Herefordshire council best start ordering these posters from the printers for the local swimming baths.

    attachicon.gifgroping_migrants.jpg

Oh and inform the police and trading standards because it won't be long before you see more of this going on here. Apparently most of these Kurds running these shops were also migrants refugees (half of which came in under lorries and still continue to attempt to smuggle more in).

    Mark my words.

Thi is what is really happening in Calais

  8. Commons committee calls for asylum seekers to be housed in Tory shires

    Guardian

It must be incredibly difficult to integrate an unaccompanied Syrian juvenile youth into Herefordshire as there is absolutely no existing community to easily integrate them into. And it is virtually non Muslim round here. That's why we're only getting 6. They'll probably need home tuition and a very reliable foster parent to go to. And it's not as if those are coming out of our ears.

It's probably a lot easier to take a family unit but best of luck with parachuting such a family into somewhere like Leominster. They'd be like a fish out of water.

We will have to provide them will mosques next, they will soon be popping up more and more.

  9. I've no problem with people pasting quotes and references from the papers and elsewhere, I've done it myself. That's different to pasting whole, unattributed articles. In my view, it doesn't further the debate to simply republish stuff people can read for themselves if you provide a link.

But sometimes you are better off pasting a larger part of a quote/reference in order to have the impact intended, it is not always appropriate to just post a link, some people will not click that link, but a few paragraphs they may read.
