    5. Application for the Grant of a Premises Licence under the Licensing Act 2003 in respect of Wok & Rice., 59b Commercial Road, Hereford, HR1 2BP

Whilst we are aware that the police have not objected to the application, nevertheless the authority must object to it as it is within the heart of the area of the City covered by the Special Policy (Cumulative Impact Policy). It is unable to see any reason why the authority should divert from this policy. . .

    and

Should the committee wish to override their current policy then the Licensing Authority recommend that the following conditions should be attached to the licence. . .

Of course it in within the heart of the City, this is the main road!! Hence why they opened there!

So this area is covered by this 'Cumulative Impact Policy' and they were also worried about the queues going into Yates, what the hell? So how do other cities manage then with one pub next to another? Hereford Council are so out of touch and just look at any reason to object.

If this applicant had applied for a licence anywhere else, ie Eign Road or Whitecross Road, then they would of refused or put more restrictions in place being in a residential area, you can't win.. :Hmm:

  2. DOH! Go check it out, look at it, figure out how it works. Yes many pedestrain corssings are independant, but many of them at the major juntions being discussed here are an integrated part of the traffic lights.

    Duh!!

We would like both the Highways Agency and Herefordshire Council to allow the traffic lights at the junctions
where the A465 meets the A49 (Asda roundabout/junction) and
where the A49 meets the A438 Newmarket St (Old Market roundabout/junction)
to become part-time signals during non peak times from 7pm-7am
with exception to the pedestrian crossings which would still be in operation for the safety of pedestrians.

I suggest that you go check it out and read the whole topic! These 2 sets being discussed here have independent pedestrian lights which a separate to the main scoot lights!

  3. How can you keep on the pedestrian lights and turn off the traffic lights? they are all part of the same system! they are one and the same system, when you press the cross button it alters the phasing to stop the traffic lights on red for a longer period. there are a few pelican crossing which are independant but are'nt we talking about the major junctions like asda and edgar street?

No they are NOT part of the same system, the traffic lights are operated on a scoot system where are pedestrian lights are operated independently via a button that the pedestrian presses.

  4. This seemed like the most relevant place to ask without making a new thread.

I went out at 8am this morning, the traffic was backed up Ross Road past Grafton/Ambulance Station, backed up past Tesco on Belmont and beyond and backed up down Holme Lacy road.

Was it just worst today or is it always like that? I only ask as I rarely go out at that time, if that's how it usually is, I'll avoid doing it again

Welcome to my world but when those lights are out of order that traffic is non existent, funny that.

  5. I think if I was not making enough money from this car park in the week and it bothered me that much enough to prevent people just parking here during the evenings (when it is totally empty) I would install gates or a barrier system but I certainly would not resort to employing scammers with fake looking tickets!

So are you in agreement with these private companies issuing these invoices then?

I agree with Colin response above, furthermore, a permit for this car park is over £1500 pa, I reckon there are at least 40 spaces so thats £60,000 earner from a piece of land that used to FREE to park on, if you were a tenant of the offices along Bridge St, so these permit charges are an addon since about 2006. Greed comes to mind.

  6. So we don't need smaller rural police stations then? Just give a copper his radio and the public their number sorted.. How is that serving the community? Sometimes just seeing a police station will make the more vulnerable feel just that little bit safer, but hey! Lets close them all down and hand out numbers for people to call, all in the name of cost cutting.    These services have and should be available, so the public are missing out because the last Gov apparently spent too much on other ****, sorry, I don't buy that, we are payig now because the tories want to be seen to get the national debt down and win votes in future elections.

They are all as bad as each other and it's the public that have to cough up everytime!

Start charging visitors and non UK residents a £10 visa to enter the UK that would help, it seems that we are all being penalised because of others mistakes!

  7. I took my elderly mum shopping last week, it usually takes a couple of hours to get around the store, mind you she is 85 years old. Long story short, when we got to the till the lady said you best be quick because your two hours parking is almost up. My mum wanted to go for dinner in the cafe but we could not because they could not issue a separate ticket for the car park... I said that's ridiculous, a supervisor was stood next to her and said no, after two hours you have to leave the car park, I said but we are going to spend even more money in your store in the cafe, she said you can't! I caould not believe my ears, so we left. How stupid is this?

  8. Never look at the front page - it takes far too long to load. I use 'Navigation - View new content' and keep that as a bookmark. Its whole topics rather than members posts I want to block.

Front page loads perfectly okay for me, why is it slow for you? Have you tried clearing your browser cache? What browser so you use?

  9. Wood I believe is classed as sustainable so I suppose the developer is trying to be a little bit eco friendly.  Mind you for an appearance point of view the coated corrugated can now look very attractive. It would be easier to maintain and stay looking fresh over a longer period of time.  This wood will not age attractively and will be impossible to clean.

Eco friendly WTF?? How many trees were cut down to create this fence on the side of the building? Eco friendly ha ha ha that's brilliant  :Hmm:

As promised folks here is the e-mail from Herefordshire Housing that clarifies the situation about a Tenants Association or lack of one:

    Dear Mr. Smart,

Following-up on our telephone conversation yesterday, I can confirm that the Herefordshire Tenant’s Federation no longer exists, having closed around 2008.

Herefordshire Housing Limited does not currently work in partnership with a formally constituted, grant-funded tenant / resident federation; although we do actively engage, support and work with residents in numerous other forums.

If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Kind regards.

    Nikki Griffiths

    Fair play to you lad.

  11. I agree K Butt , but there is a difference in "Proof" between Crimimal Law and Cival Law , the sign " trespassers will be prosecuted " often seen on private property is called a " wooden lie " amongst those that know the Law. You only have to see how long it takes to remove squatters from buildings and private property .

Squatting in a residential building in England and Wales has been a criminal offence since September 2012, meaning squatters can be arrested and will face a £5000 fine or a six month jail sentence. No court orders are needed - straightforward arrest will do the job nicely. These properties are most likely to fall victim to arson, particularly if the back door has been left open!

    Squatting is a criminal offence.

Ubique, at the end of the day your probably right as the law is usually more on the side of any criminal before the victim, that said, I agree with you and if this were my property I would have probably done the same.
