  1. This tragedy was preventable the residents had voiced their concerns over the safety of the building & works for sometimes but these had fallen on deaf ears with the local council not doing anything to address the issues or safety concerns raised by the people living in Grenfell tower (sound familiar).

The real issue is the way in which local authorities act they are a law unto themselves doing what they think is best not listening to locals but rather to some highly paid suits who never take into account the concerns of those people who lives they are ultimately effecting also the greedy contractors putting profit above welfare.

So people are going to vent there anger at the PM because she is at the top of the tree also the fact that she did not engage with the residents after the tragedy which was a PR disaster on her behalf. As that just comes across to those effected that they are being overlooked again by the powers that be.

The PM actually visited some of the victims again yesterday, she clearly realised that as well as talking to the emergency services on her first visit she should of also spoke with the victims, it is never too late and she tried to address this yesterday and got slated for it, she cannot win. Personally, I like the woman, she is still learning but to be fair she is also recognising her own faults, I hope she remains in power and becomes a really great prime minister, just changing the leader may tick a few boxes for some people but it is not really the answer, learning from you mistakes and addressing them is all good positive stuff in my view.

  2. "The Queen has today paid tribute to the "bravery" of firefighters and emergency service workers "who put their own lives at risk to save others"

The Prime Minister didn't do anything wrong, both political leaders did the right thing and the PM ordered a public enquiry, no waiting or messing about, she ordered it immediately, so credit where credit is due. She visited and spoke with the unsung heroes here too.

  3. The Polish Premier's words are supportive of what many now feel and think about these attacks upon our Western societies. That said, and with great respect to her and the peoples of Poland and other Eastern European countries, it's very easy to talk like this in their uncomplicated and straightforward societies. For Poland and many other East European nations where they've never experienced significant levels of immigration and the introduction of different cultures into their population, where the normal and typical is white Christian Caucasian, there is no risk or political backlash for speaking in this way.

For the West, who's societies are very diverse and based upon multiculturalism and equality for all, it's nigh on impossible for a western political leader to talk in this way. So, whilst the Polish Premier might sound good and appeal to the way many might now feel about these complicated social issues, our leaders have to consider issues that Poland has no experience of. Diversity!

One should also remember that Poland and other Eastern countries are in conflict with Brussels for refusing to accept any people associated with the migrant crisis and this speech by the Polish Premier is in a roundabout way a response to the threat from Brussels that sanctions may be implemented and the Cash Tap could be turned off if 'they' don't do as they're told and embrace our so called EU Shared Values and accept diversity into their culture.

Hence her stand against not being blackmailed by the EU bureaucrats. She is got bigger balls than many leaders, they also do not want this so called diversity and multiculturalism, they have every right to decide who crossed their borders and not be intimidated by the likes of Merkel.

  4. I heard today the the Hereford Sony Centre (Hutchinsons) is closing?

If this is true it is very sad to hear about the Sony Centre however, I must say that they close on Sundays and every bank holiday (which is fine but not when your clearly struggling) I was only in there last week and I walked in at 5.15 and the first thing the guy said to me was we close in 15 minutes mate and the previous 4 times I have been in the shop nobody could be bothered to serve me, so if this is the way they do business, I can't say I am surprised they are closing...

Yes, most business's of this nature in the city centre are open Sundays. You have to keep up with the competition if you want to survive.

  5. It is nice to see something positive being done for a change, good luck folks and enjoy your visit to Poland, I'm sure you will be made welcome. I was in Poland about 7 years ago (Krakow) and really enjoyed the warm welcome and friendly people, not over struck on the sour cabbage but everything else was just fine.

  6. Make noise...seems the only way to get things sorted and those who are paid to do the work motivated. This is supposed to be the premier children's play area for the city and now seems to going to rack and ruin

Agree with Bilbobobby, come on HV start shouting!!

  7. I really do question these type of posts, especially on a site which is predominantly for news & stories about Hereford.

There have been hundreds of attacks on refugees & Asylum seekers in Germany why no posts about them?

Maybe you need to have a look around the web and actually see the utter horrors of what has actually been done to the Syrian people and not

just look at the very few (cleansed) news stories ie the syrian child pulled out of the rubble, washed up body of child.

PM me & I'll point you in the right direction

This story has come through on lots of media channels including those from other countries. Russia has supported the internationally recognised government of Syria since the beginning of the Syrian conflict in 2011: politically, with military aid, and since 30 September 2015 also through direct military involvement. So these men had 4 years prior to any bombing from Russia. My grandfather like many other men and woman fought for this country during the blitz and constant coming from Germany during the war, including many other people defending their own countries at the same time, so please do not start with this one!! I understand that HV is mainly for stories about Hereford but this topic like many other topics which have had nothing to do with Hereford was placed in the open forum for open debate, alongside other more 'left' topics that suit your agenda, I don't see you moaning about those topics.
