I have the original paperwork where it states you can recycle foil containers / wrap as well as all the other items. If it has changed it is only recently because as a councillor I have not been advised of the change and I and my other councillor colleagues should of been. I also deposit foil in my recycle bin this week and I was not advised or asked to remove it.So I will be looking into this. In regard to your suggestion of my doing my homework I can assure you that I do! therefore I did not appreciate your coment.
Can I just say something here. I am not being nasty at all so please do not take this the wrong way, but Cllr Powell you are far to quick to respond, often replying so quickly but getting the facts totally incorrect. Like here for example
you have put the words YOU CAN in big letters to really bring your point across, but you are wrong! someone mkes a comment that maybe you should do your homework and immediately you attack them! you claim to have paperwork where it sates you can recycle foil containers? so can you upload that so that we can see it? as I do not believe that is correct, I think as someone else has alreasy said, that you have possibly misread it.I have always recycled even before we had the wheeley bins, in the purple bags. Just one correction to your list above YOU CAN recycle silver foil containers and wrap as long as it is clean. This is not the first time you have got things completely wrong. A member stated that a staff member of Amey's was a woman, in this post here and you replied
Where are you getting all the incorrect information, becasue she is clearly a member of the Amey team. The girl who cut the verge along side your houses was not a member of Amey staff. Now the most recent comment was made in this topic where you wrote
ok I notice that you have corrected this statement further down within that discussion but a lot of these comments are incorrect but more importantly, this is confusing some people.Colin, having read your post above I again contacted Amey, they advised me they were not Amey staff who cut the trees leaving some of it behind but Ross Tree Services. Can you not just double check everything before replying, there is nothing worse that getting the information totally wrong, especially as our local councillor as people take what you say as correct. I know you are doing you best and this is appreciated but you do seem to be eager to reply but it seems without a lot of thought, as I said, I am not being nasty but just making some observations.

I was expecting around the £15-£20,000 so like the other members, it's more than I thought it would be, but more importantly, I do not understand why they are spending so much money, the oval has been like this for years, so a lick of a horrible cream coloured paint is hardly going to make it look any better in it's last years. Money should of been spend on something else, I feel that this is wasted money to be truthful.

The person responsible should still be prosecuted in my opinion. I hate these people who think they can just dump their rubbish where they like and expect someone else to clean it up.
Still, this is a good result, Well done Colin and Craig Sandman's team :Thumbs-Up:
I agree, but I guess if they clear it up that is a result.
-
I was hoping for this, thank you

Good job by Amey

If the clerk doesn't send you the minutes, the next meeting is on Thursday 11th 7:15pm Northolme centre you could ask her in person if you attend.
Unfortunately I am going on holiday to Wales but I will keep checking the site and wait for her reply.
-
Amey officers have not returned my call from the other day asking for the trees to be cut, so will chase them up tomorrow!
Why do they not return calls? that is so rude. You had this problem last time.
-
I have send a message to BRPC to ask her if she could email across the last minutes of meetings held, hopefully Colin can then publish these for us.

Who ever selects these colours for choice? they all sound horrible, I mean pale blue? more waste of tax payers money, and yes don't be surprised when you find out what it has cost for that disgusting colour, looks worse than ever now in my opinion. :Thumbs-Down:
Yes I have to agree

A very smart website. Your daughter is very talented

I am trying to settle a small argument here, did the Tesco garage used to be open 24 hours?
-
Yes I can see that they have guidelines that they have to follow but one of the points put across was just because Amey have overpainted a road sign, that may well have been there for sometime does not necessarily make it right or legal, and once they overpaint it they then have taken full ownership and as you have said have to adhere to the guidelines set out by the DOT. So they should of replaced this yellow box with whatever the guidelines allow. This argument has merit.
We all appreciate your efforts Cllr, and I can see that you were getting frustated with some of the comments but to be fair most of the comments that have been made are good ones.
Interesting read guy's, enjoying this one, some good points and issues being questioned and rightly so -
Yes the green signs have that nice country look about them, they have my vote
-
Well again an unbielable response, that are not adequate, because as soon as any car tries to edge it's way out from that junction when there is a queue of traffic (everyday) hey will be covering the little sign, they just do not want to do it again and admit that they are wrong. Have a look at this picture taken in London, this is how it should be and they know it!
I can show them plenty of other examples from around the country.
The KEEP CLEAR sign should be in the centre of the carriageway, the way they have done it, looks far too small for a start and is restrcited to the inside lane, when clearly traffic approaching the roundabout is in the middle of the carriageway as you can see from the other pictures provided by Colin James.
Have a look at the vehicle in this picture.
When there is a huge queue, do you think this vehicle would keep the exits clear looking at this picture? NO is the obvious answer. This needs rectifying, residents are not happy and at the end of the day, Amey are contracted by the council who in turn are elected by us, this work has not been carried out as was requested and as it stands it's useless. I am that annoyed that unless somthing is done I will be writing to the Hereford Times because this is just pathetic!
I am sure that I have seen bigger signs than these that have been painted, however, forgetting the size issue for one moment, just a little common sense suggests to me that these signs should of been centred across the whole carriage and not to one side like they have been placed, this completely defeats the object and purpose that they are for becuase vehicles trying to come across the carriageway are going to hide these and as already mentioned the traffic coming into the city are already in the middle of the road and will feel that becasue these signs are to the left side that it only applies to the left hand lane. They need to be in the centre of the road! as in the London picture, are the rules for London different than for Hereford then?
-
Well we have the keep clear signs, but I cannot belive that they have limited them to just the inside lane!! When I compramised on the "Keep Clear" signs I assumed like anyone else would, that they would have been put across the whole section, this is not going to work as people travelling down from the Abergavenny side are already in the centre of the road coming around the roundabout, unbelievable...
Why I am not suprised? :Angry_32:

On 18/03/2011 at 08:24, Glenda Powell said:
After two years of asking for yellow boxes at Belmont Tesco, following on from Colin's original suggestion I met on site with Amey last November, I was advised we could not have yellow boxes without traffic signals, I ask for an alternative and we compromised on 'keep clear signs' at the entrance to Northolme Rd, Abbotsmead Rd and Southolme Rd. I am please to advise that these will be put in on 20th March weather permitting.
I think you will actually find that Mr James originally requested this back in May 2008, so it's taken 3 years!
This is good news and long overdue, but I am not going to hold my breath just yet. :Smile_32:
-
Well it's now March 2011 almost 3 years has passed since Mr James first requested these yellow boxes or keep clear signs. This is a joke!
Last update from Councillor Powell was last November and still nothing has been done.

Great article!

Just after I became a councillor eight years ago Albert Heinz offered to pay for a tram line to be put onto the GWW Herefordshire council rejected his offer, a very big mistake in my opinion and I said so at the time.
As Colin James has previously suggested, this whole area should be turned into a road to take relief from the Belmont Road.
Most people are too frightened to walk along here after the hours of dark, so it is wasted land in my opinion.
-
Done with pleasure :Thumbs-Up:
-
I totally agree!!!
What happened to the days when you would video the school xmas play and other parents would ask you for a copy?
I have noticed that you are not allowed to photograph at the Hereford Pool anymore, why not?? not only sad but as you have said it's pathetic.
Completely agree with everything above, PC gone mad in my opinion, I am pleased that someone is taking a stance on this as it's wrong.
-
Good idea, keeps all the old messages in one place for reference. Thanks
-
They rarely come onto the estates in my experience.
I have to agree with you on this one. Roads are terrible!
-
This is useful, thank you for the information. I have a relative who could use this. :Smile Face_32:
How many of you wash your recycling items?

Councillor, you clearly DO NOT check and double check everything or we would not be getting these incorrect statements, so please read my post again, I said I was not being nasty at all but some of the things that your were reporting were incorrect and it was confusing people (ie. silver foil) I also said that your work is appreciated, I just knew that you would take offence with a reply as you have done,it seems that some people cannot handle constructive criticism only the credit, nevermind.
