I have just driven into the City from the Abergavenny side and a lot of the road signs are hidden becasue of overgrown tree's and bushes, in particular in the roundabout sign on the left just after the Haywood Lane turning heading in towards Hereford, you cannot see it until you are more or less on it becasue the tree's are so overgrown, the same with quite a few of the road signs. All along the main road the tree's seem to have got out of hand, it will not be long before we have a canopy formed, can these not all be cut back? it looks a right mess coming into town, this continues all down the Belmont Road to the iron bridge.

Very noticeable along Great Western Way the amount of broken glass which has been left for over a week - at least in five places. Amey just don't see this littering, even the men who empty the litter bins in their vans seem to ignore it. Maybe its another department who just do broken glass. All it needs is a brush and pan to remove it.
They do see it but choose to ignore it

I can see your point Colin, the signs need to be further apart they are too close to the pools as you have said. The first picture you cannot see the sign because of the overgrown tree's on the left?

I went for a bike ride this morning down the old GWW, what a tip! anyway all of the original posts are still there NONE have bee nremoved, it will be intersting to see what is said if another person hurts themselves on one of them. Also nothing has been fixed on the Hunderton Bridge either, just thought I would pass on my findings.
Yes no change at all, I was walking along the GWW this morning, nothing has been removed.

I spoke to Amey officers on Friday advising them to do the work properly not with plastic tapes. I will be checking to see if the work has been done.
Getting back to the subject of the bridge...We are now in April 2012 and this was originally reported in October last year (7 months) and still nothing has been done even though both Councillors said that they would follow it up and Adrian had marked this as a matter of urgency...
I took these pictures an hour ago

I have just read a response letter in the Hereford Journal to a 350 signature petition raised by Cllr Powell with regard to speed restrictions and traffic calming. I have to agree with D.K.Payne's letter on page 4, this is the first that I had heard of any petition? quite funny as the amount of traffic around here does not allow you to drive much faster than 5 mph!
-
As Colin has said on a number of occasions, these traffic lights should be turned off and this should be turned back into a roundabout.
This is exactly what Colin James is asking for and I agree, traffic is chaos in Hereford

Take a saw to it during the night, quite simple. :Angry_32:
Muir and Amey are having a laugh. Get hold of a light meter and see what percentage of light is being blocked "as there is a threshold", then you have yourself a rather nice a court case to hand them! :Winking_32: which will cost them a lot more than thinning out this tree, they are just being awkward in my opinion

Great pictures megilleland thank you

I find is amusing that Councillor Bob Preece actually opened the store as the Mayor in 2006 and he is one of the Councillors now objecting.
Having a small unmanned filling station will not make hardly any difference, the GP Walk in Centre has had no impact on the traffic so why should a small filling station be any different?
Having read through some of the objections, I see no reason or grounds why this application should be refused, having a filling station (credit card only)will not make the slightest bit of difference to this City's traffic problems.
We have had them for many years because of bad planning originally and the lack of another bridge crossing and or bypass.

Does it realy matter who took credit for the notice boards nobodys interested. At least they have been done.
Funny, I was thinking the same thing. Cllr Powell you would be quick enough to take credit if you had anything to do with it. Some people act like children at times, either way nobody reads these notice boards! Personally I would not want to take any credit for these, total and utter waste of tax payers money yet again in my opinion, will not be long before someone damages or defaces them.
So not we have 3 notice boards within a few yards of each other, as per the other topic on Dead Posts, I guess the old blue ones (south wye) will just continue to look an eye sore for a few more years.
I bet they have cost a ridiculous amount of money? this money would of been better served on taking down the stupid traffic lights at Asda and freeing up the traffic jams that they cause daily! now that would be something to be proud of if the Councillors could do that!

Perfect timing thank you

Glenda, your picture is in the paper more times than I can remember, looking again now I can see that she is older than you but at first glance she does resemble you.
I just thought it was you, but like Fran says your picture is always in the paper.

Thank you Colin fr re posting this. Glenda I still cannot believe that a body like Amey could allow such amateur practices. Lets see what they do now.
Glenda, I also saw you in the Hereford Times this week from 1987!!

Oh My God! I think I have seen it all now!! I really cannot believe this I am shocked to say the least...this dangerous fence was reported over a month ago, and up until recently nothing had been done about it. I have just come back from my walk along the GWW and see that it has been repaired at last...
This is unbelievable! how can someone be so incompetent? and the best part is that they could not even be bothered to cut the excess from the cable ties!! yes plastic cable ties, I am totally lost for words. Surely Amey never did this work, did they??
The Hereford Times will love this one I am sure.

I walked along the old railway lines this afternoon and this is still the same (Dangerous) 3 weeks after it was first reported! You would think that this would be a priority
Still the same today, almost a month ago this was reported! I sincerely hope no kids decide to play on the bridge eh :Sad_32:

On 06/11/2011 at 12:33, Adrian Bridges said:
I raised the garage issue to Herefordshire Housing. Paul Kennedy has written back to me personally and confirmed that Herefordshire Housing has committed £340,000 in next years budget. This will ensure as necessary they will upgrade and rapair the garages / other building and if required demolish any of these that are considered unsafe.
Lets hope that they knock the lot down.

Amey have come back today, this is now logged but I have requested when they intend to visit the site and make an assessment on the work requirements.
As promised I will post any updates as soon as they reply
Thank you very much Adrian

I went on my weekly walk along GWW on Sunday, noted the rubbish etc and have reported it all to Amey Community Protection team and lights dept with the request of the whole area being cleared also branches removed from around light standards. They have replied that my request will to be actioned.
With respect Glenda they said that to you in June 2010 so lets hope over 16 months on, that they actually do it for you this time.
-
Thank you for raising this I have reported this direct to AMEY to have it repaired as a matter of urgency.
Thank you Adrian

I do believe that some of Cllr Powells posts are somewhat confusing and clearly not alway right.
-
So how long has this area looked this bad Phil? you say over a year, so has nothing been done in a whole year, is that what you are saying?
Nothing has been done here at all Mick. Phil complained about this way back last year have a read through the replies. It's a laugh
Complete Incompetence!

Total lazyness, people these days just can't be bothered to do any job properly.
