New LBJ Express in Dallas, Texas Aerial Video Shows the Vision is Becoming Reality

One year after the opening of the massive and complex LBJ Express corridor, the number of vehicles using it is up 10 to 15 percent and speeds are up by 15 percent across the entire highway, project leaders say.

Overall congestion is down nearly 70 percent in the past year, according to Cintra’s LBJ Infrastructure Group, which handled the project.

The LBJ Express corridor, which sits along I-635 west of Luna Road to east of Greenville Avenue, fully opened in September 2015. The 13.3 mile, $2.6 billion project features managed toll lanes called TEXpress Lanes, where motorists pay more to drive freer-flowing portions when the highway is especially congested.

The goal of the managed toll lanes, dubbed “Lexus lanes†because their prices rise during peak traffic, is to minimize congestion and add predictability to drivers’ commutes.

The LBJ Express project began in 2011 and included the reconstruction of expanded frontage lanes and main lanes, as well as the addition of bypass lanes and managed lanes. As many as 250,000 cars travel the stretch daily.

The construction includes the complete rebuild of 18 individual lanes with the tolled managed lanes below its surface throughout most of the corridor. The finished project includes new and continuous frontage roads with bypass lane sections, reconstructed general highway lanes and three additional TEXpress Lanes in each direction.

Don't let the Council see this! Built for people who don't want to get out of their cars and couldn't care less about the environment. I can see the elevated sections getting across the Lammas meadows going east. The Hereford Link road is about the width of the LBJ freeway.

The following could be a worry for the Council if it wasn't for the fact that the Council have appointed Geoff Hughes as project Director? Nothing to worry about he will gather up the usual suspects responsible for the **** up in the first place and they are sure to **** it up all over again! Why because they are ****ing up thinks on a day to day basis!

What exactly does it take to trigger a public enquiry? I am confused as to why the auditors haven't been looking into this?

    The Grapes Tavern

    George Armstrong
    By George Armstrong,

Good news at last. Following several months of a protracted battle with Herefordshire Council's Licensing Department, new landlords Gary & Sonia CALDWELL have received their premises licence following the Licensing Department withdrawing their objections earlier this week. The new team received a wealth of support, ranging from other local landlords, the RW Mayor, Hereford BID, Herefordshire CAMRA to name but a few. This lost jewel of an ancient inn is now open, offering a wide range of Irish food, drink and live entertainment. Let's hope that Herefordshire punters can support this new venture by sampling some real Dublin-brewed Guinness etc, all in moderation, of course.

    Traffic in Hereford City Centre

    Ubique
    By Ubique,

Today was the first time in ten years that Mrs U and I travelled from our home 4 miles to the NW of Hereford on a Sunday lunchtime . Our intentions was to meet up with relatives for lunch at one of the eateries in the Old Market .

Table was reserved for 12.30 , because we had a bit of shopping to do we left our home at 11.45 , we travelled along the A49 , around the Starting Gate roundabout and joined a long line of stop / start traffic - to cut a very boring story short we parked in the Waitrose car park at 12.20 pm . 35 minutes to cover 4 miles !

Our relatives travelled into town from the Ledbury direction, they left their home at 1205pm for their 20 minute journey into town - they arrived at our chosen Resturant at 1pm !

Other than volume of traffic does anybody know of any reason for the delays - no road works were seen - or is this normal for a Sunday lunchtime. .

    Cambo versus The Hereford Times.

    bobby47
    By bobby47,

Last week the Hereford Times conducted a Readers Poll regarding our departure from the European Union. The Poll asked, now that our exit is imminent, would you now vote to Remain, would you now vote to Leave or don't you know.

This particular news thread attracted a great many comments that supported our departure and the Poll very quickly reflected our people's desire to still leave the Union. Indeed, by the early part of the afternoon the Poll reflected this intent and had the Leave vote at around 69 percent, the Remain vote around 29 percent and the remaining number stating Don't Know.

Around 2.30pm, some five minutes after the Poll showed Leave at 69 percent, I opened up the page of the HT to see whether or not further comments had been added. At this time, the Poll then read 69 percent to Remain, 29 percent to Leave.

The Poll result had been deliberately distorted and its manipulation and single purpose could only be for one reason. To suit the narrative of the media who like much of the establishment want us to remain in the Union.

Worse, today, the Hereford Times has released a piece on their Readers page celebrating the results of their Poll that shows the Remain vote at over 70 percent which, given the clear circumstances of the rigged Poll that adequately displays just how powerful the media have become in controlling our lives, our views, our aspirations and our futures by simply writing and reporting whatever they like whether it's true or false.

    Hereford City of Culture 2021?

    megilleland
    By megilleland,
Hereford Times: Friday 30th May 2014 in News By Bill Tanner

The Courtyard and Herefordshire Council have today (Friday) confirmed a partnership to create a local consortium to make the bid.

Over the next few weeks key local cultural organisations will be invited to join that consortium.

The UK City of Culture programme encourages the use of culture and creativity as a catalyst for change.

To prove its worth, the Hereford bid has to demonstrate the delivery of a high quality cultural programme that not only builds and expands on local strengths and assets  but reaches a “wide variety†of audiences over the course of the year.

The programme also has to show how  culture and creativity can lead to “lasting social regeneration†in contributing to related local agendas, supporting cultural diversity and cohesion, and creating demonstrable economic impact through investment and innovation.

Courtyard chief executive Ian Archer will advise the consortium. He played a key part in the initial stages of the successful Hull 2017 application.

Roger Morgan, Chairman of The Courtyard Board, said that the bid built on the centre’s nationally acclaimed cross-generational work as to how the arts can enhance lives and lifestyles.

“We believe that by bringing together all the major cultural organisations in the county we can extend this to bring an improved quality of life to the county as a whole,†he said.

Cllr Harry Bramer, Herefordshire Council cabinet member for cultural services, said the county brought “ an amazing cultural history and a vibrant and diverse contemporary cultural scene†to the bid.

" We have visual artists, craftspeople, musicians, performers, storytellers, historians, broadcasters, blacksmiths, photographers, designers, film-makers, writers, poets, dancers, developers, actors and directors. The council is committed to working with individuals, communities and organisations to do more for themselves and their local area,†said Cllr Bramer.

“I am really excited by the prospect of working with The Courtyard and the widest range of other organisations to take this forward. I am absolutely convinced that we have the skills locally to pull together a winning bid,†he said

This seems to have caused a lot of mirth on the HT comments. Is this the same man who wanted to cut the library service last year?

    Jesse Norman/Bill Wiggin

    Denise Lloyd
    By Denise Lloyd,

Not quite sure what kind of reaction I will get to this but I will give it a go.

With a Cabinet of 7 making decisions that will change Herefordshire for ever - no going back - are our 2 MP's doing enough to look after the county they represent? Two MP'S don't come keep cheap.  Do we ever really hear from them?

No 1 Ledbury Road/sale of HC farms/SLR/Link Road/bypass/ the list is endless these are county changing decisions and from where I am sitting this Council is on track to run this county into the ground and not only that destroying the appearance of the county.

Surely the pecking order should be Norman and Wiggin stepping in and saying steady on chaps don't you think it would be better if you tried this or did this but you don't why?

Whatever your views on Paul Keetch he worked tirelessly when the Foot and Mouth was playing havoc in the country - would either of these 2 do this?  I think not but you people may see it differently to me.
