    Herefordshire Council Contracts

They come in as the cheapest so they get the contract. The fact that they add on extras after is quite another matter

    Friendly and Welcoming

@Ubique: The point I was trying to illustrate was that the visual impact created by my building (it's actually a municipal swimming pool in the Vendee province of Western France) is considerably more spiritually uplifting than the multi-coloured Leggo box proposed for Station Approach.

    Herefordshire Council Contracts

Slightly off topic, but the Northern Magazine building at Rotherwas has been surrounded with Heras fencing recently and I noted today that 'Integral' signs were going up - next, S C Joseph vans no doubt. Something very odd about this ongoing and very lucrative arrangement.

    Duck Pond Day - 24th June 10am - POSTPONED!

Duck Pond Clean Up Day - Sunday 24th June Postponed! Due to unforeseen circumstances the Duck Pond Day this Sunday has had to be postponed. We will advise of a new date over the next few weeks, apologies for any inconvenience.
  8. This is really good and will brighten up the area and also good for students at the art college. Well done to all of those involved in getting it off the ground.

    The Ship Inn Proposal

What are you on about years? They only knocked the Ship pub down last August, work was delayed for a few weeks when we had the snow (beat from the east) other than that I believe that they are more or less on schedule. Full details and the latest updates on this development can be found here
  10. THE Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire will unveil an arts project inspired by Trafalgar Square’s Fourth Plinth this Friday. Hereford City Council has been co-ordinating the delivery of the project which will showcase the work of students and local artists. The new community project which partners with Hereford Skate Park and the Hereford College of Arts hopes to promote art and culture and showcase the talent of local residents. Lord Lieutenant for Herefordshire The Dowager Countess of Darnley will officially unveil the first sculpture, the Rotherwas Angel, at 4pm on June 22. Brian Stephens, skate park trustee and founder, said: The plinths will catch the eye of people as they enter and exit the City on the A49. Information about the artists and the sculpture will be found in the gallery in the Boom Box on the skate Park. The first sculpture created by students from the Art College is based on a brief relating to the Home Front. Hereford College of Arts course leader Darren Williams said the project is an exceptional opportunity for the students involved to challenge themselves. He said: A lot of work has also be done behind the scenes by Councillor Paul Stevens (Widemarsh).

I certainly agree that Medical building should be attractive and welcoming , my concern is that is there an increased financial cost involved ? Whilst , I accept that it would be very hard to compare costing of the design of the proposed building and the one that GK has posted can anybody give a ball park figure of , I presume the apparent increase in £ of GK suggestion ?

    The Ship Inn Proposal

It does seem like it but it has only been 11 months since planning was approved & a little over 8 months since building work started.
  14. So much for it not closing! Well its closed, thank goodness, the last time we ate there the food was terrible.

    The Ship Inn Proposal

Its still not finished and its been years, what ever is going on, finish it. Does it really need to take this long to complete a few apartments. When I pass by I hardly ever see anyone working on the site.

    Planning Refused for Costa Coffee

Just another way Hereford is kept back in the dark ages. Wake up and smell the coffee, like prosperous places do. The council might not want Hereford to move forward but the people do.

When I was drafting my submission to HC about the proposed Super Surgery, I took the trouble to consult one or two experts in the medical care field. I showed one of them the artist's impression of what is proposed for Station Approach. The response was: "This is simply hideous! Don't these people realise that an essential criterion of any sort of medical building - be it a giant hospital, a rural hospice or even a small dental surgey - is that it should be perceived as friendly and welcoming." I am attaching an image of a building that, to my mind, is far more friendly. What's more, its roofline adds interest and is not a million miles away from that of the Royal Mail Sorting Office on the other side of the Link Road.

An extra 19k & yet it states on the form not to exceed 99k it would make you wonder whether or not they caused that leak themselves given it was not picked up in the original survey? well I've sent integral a email requesting information that I submitted in the FOI

    Decriminalize Cannabis.

I see that the government are at last looking into the use of medical cannabis & would seem that a change in the law which is long over due is coming…next they will have to look at recreational use to if Theresa May wants to find the extra billions in tax to pour into the NHS then legalizing its recreational use could help fund the NHS…we are behind the times on this whether you agree or not Canada are have pass a bill to legalize it…it's also ludicrous to have a ban substance but yet be the biggest exporter of it? As the UK was the main producer and exporter of cannabis-based medicines in 2016, according to the UN's International Narcotics Control Board (INCB).
  20. I'm not taking it personally Denise,I'm just disappointed at the lack of response but I don't think it's just on this thread it seems to be across the board on all threads there doesn't seem to be the posters there once was posting…the disease of apathy is even spreading through the realms of HV with Hereford people voices falling silent which is not a good sign!

    Herefordshire Council Contracts

Appears to be a lack of control over costing & what roof repair works was to be undertaken on the library from HC…devoid of any diligence on there part…the council have there own property maintenance department or is this really integral? & if not why didn't they handle this? i was going to do another FOI to get the schedule of works which was sent out to those companies to tender to…I guess now I will have to get in touch with integral to get this information too?
  24. Cambo don't take it personally but I believe people generally are afraid very afraid to voice an opinion any longer

    Herefordshire Council Contracts

So they give the job to Integral who tender it out and then the Council who appear to have no part in the tender process approve the winning bid! The Council pay Integral for a service who do nothing much except run a tender process and then take a cut from the total cost. Would be interesting to know out of the £99k plus £20K how much goes to Integral for doing very little. I see that with work in progress they have discovered a leak in the roof so have added a further £19K to the costs Shades of Blueschool House again When they prepared the original specification for repairs to the roof (at £99K plus £20K how come they missed that there was a leak in the roof. Seems like poor survey and costing work yet again and another lump of money presumably goes to Integral/S C Joseph. The inefficiency seems staggering to me.

I've had a reply to my FOI https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/487175/response/1175167/attach/3/FOI%20IAT%2016229%20LA%20Prov18.06.18.doc?cookie_passthrough=1 the council did not tender this out it was done through integral?…which raise more questions than it answers
  27. I have to say I'm a little disappointed at the response to this thread…I was hoping to open up a debate on the subject matter to engage other posters feelings on this issue. as I feel that these five heads should face a independent scrutiny panel…so this thread I was hoping would open up a discussion on how we might bring that about?…as impossible as it might sound or seem? I really do feel we can make it happen as a community working together…so come on HV post lend me your ears & thoughts.
