Petition: Reverse Decision To Reduce Grass Cutting
flamboyant replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Hi Glenda I for one don't think your post is out of order. I am sick and tired of the Council telling us that we must all tighten our belts and then awarding themselves a salary increase. If that did happen then I want to know about it! Public sector workers are fighting for a pay rise above the measly 1% they have been offered and yet Senior Managers and Councillors are constantly awarded pay rises usually well above 1%! Senior Managers sit around drawing up restructures to save money, which always results in front line staff losing their jobs. The restructures ALWAYS RESULT in a new post being created and a manager getting a salary increase. Now I don't dislike Cllr Kenyon or Cllr Rone but they were involved in the proposals to reduce grass cutting and form Community groups to cut the grass. Indeed Cllr Kenyon and IOC began forming those groups ahead of the announcement to stop cutting the grass! I'm sorry but if they benefitted from that in anyway (pay increase) then that is wrong. I don't care how hard they work 100s of front line staff work hard and the public have a right to the basic services! I asked the following question in a previous post and have not received a response Posted 21 July 2014 on Cllr Kenyons Q&A Who employed the localities officers and who's paying the salaries' is it Balfour Beatty? I am now led to believe it was Herefordshire Council and they come under Geoff Hughes Directorate but I would like that confirmed. I would like to add whose idea was it to employ 13 Localities officers, how many Managers will be required and how many front line staff will lose their jobs as a result of these newly created posts? We have a Contract with BBLP which included grass cutting, trees, verges and open spaces. It appears the Council have cut services employed a shed load of people and increased salaries to Councillors all in the name of Austerity! It all translates to front line staff losing their jobs and a reduction in Services! We can't be selective over who we label self serving! The only way to stop that happening is for Hereford Council to initiate a Pay Freeze across the entire organisation and stop inventing jobs to the detriment of the public! I thought the big bad wolf was a good guy till he tried to eat little red riding hood! I also have a knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes and it's time everyone else did, so Glenda thanks for your openness, it's time for honesty, if people are good and decent people that integrity will shine through they won't need anyone's protection. Enjoy you day!- 427 replies

A lot of statistics under item 5 Quarterly Performance Report inviting Cabinet Members to consider performance for the first quarter of 2014/15 following the Quarterly Performance Review held on 15 July 2014. Notice under Performance Measure in the APPENDIX C - ECC Databook Jobs created in the first quarter of 2014: If anyone believes these figures they need certifying! Nearly all the jobs created by the ESG are part time posts! The figures on Potholes don't state if they were permanent fixes and why did the waste initiative create a need for more staff! I moved house 31 days ago but the Council still collected payments on my direct debit for the old property and sent me a reminder on the new property! When I called the Council they told me it takes a minimum of 28 days for a change in address details! Why can't they tell the truth and they wonder why we get angry!

When is a Director of Law not a Director of Law?
flamboyant replied to flamboyant's topic in Open Forum
Denise One of the key skills needed to fulfil the requirements of the post states- Experience of influencing senior managers across organisational boundaries, often with difficult or contentious messages concerning the design of services and subsequent contractual arrangements. Which loosely translated means Experience of influencing senior managers - Can you lie with conviction, manipulate figures to support those lies? across organisational boundaries - From the comfort of your living room often with difficult or contentious messages concerning the design of services - Maintain those lies when everyone around you knows your lying and subsequent contractual arrangements - Make covert arrangements to farm out our Public Services without anyone knowing your doing it, until the Contracts have been signed! Tell us about your previous role for example - If I type your name and previous place of employment into Google will I get any nasty surprises? If so you're hired!! -

I think it's a nice touch that Balfour are using Hereford as a business showcase, you couldn't write a better soap opera, it would be funny if it wasn't so tragic !- 427 replies

Here's a random idea why don't Herefordshire (we know what's best for you) Council check previous track records before they hire staff (particularly solicitors) and award contracts! Chances are if these people or these companies cocked up somewhere else they are likely going to cock up here! http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/latestnews.htm?aid=152909- 427 replies

Check out NEPRO's payments for services in January by my reckoning this money could have been used to pay two front line members of staff for a year! https://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/media/7708125/over_500_expenditure_paid_january_14.pdf -
It would certainly tempt me Dip lol
