Lovely. Once again you will be able to sit beneath trees on benches probably covered in bird crap and with the risk of it hitting you also from above

People have forgotten that one of the main reasons why the trees in High Town were removed is because of the pigeon mess plastered all over the benches and floors around them. Now the pigeons have been kicked out of the City or killed and eaten by the Gulls there is now the possibility of sitting on a bench under a tree without being shat on.

  2. A Korean BBQ restaurant is soon to open at the old market ocupying the former ChimiChanga restaurant.

Shopfitters are currently inside transforming it ready for opening soon.

Korean barbecue or ‘gogi-gui’ is about cooking marinated meats at the table on charcoal or gas grills.

The meats come in a variety of cuts, such as bulgogi, thin slices of sirloin or tenderloin, which are very popular and can be flavoured with a variety of marinades among the likes of soy, garlic, and chilli. Another crowd-pleaser, which you may see often on Korean menus, is galbi, which are short ribs,

  3. I have just found some pictures of  three proposed buildings that were to be built on the steel suppliers site just off Widemarsh Street.
The plans have now been shelved but the timber merchants next door has now shut with demolition of buildings taking place in readiness for building new Uni student accommodation.
I hope that whatever is built there is nothing like the horrendous images you can see below of what was proposed for the old steel site.

Wow, look at those rent and rates and service charges! How does anyone make a living in retail? £145k for the Chimi unit. Rates alone on the Burton/Dorothy Perkins unit £113k. Post Covid, there has to be a fundamental review of business rates surely.

You would be surprised just how much some businesses take in a day.
One certain business on a retail park in Hereford takes over a million most months of the year.

  5. The growth of the City over the next decade there will be a need for more multi storey car parks especially when Merton Meadow is turned into housing etc. To me the bus station in Commercial Road is probably the best location for having one.
Traffic lights along the Link Road were a huge & expensive mistake, the ones on Widemarsh St need removing asap and a roundabout along the lines of the one in Cambridge that gives pedestrians and cyclists priority is the way to go.

Just how many years is it going to take for the transport hub to be provided at the railway station? Once that is in place the existing bus station (with the cinema) can be redeveloped to provide housing. Surely it is not that difficult?

Or what was originally planned ,a multi storey car park with consession parking for Hospital staff. What happend to this idea? Is it still on the plans.

    Something stinks here

    Indeed it did Frank.
Not only did he have a licence to maintain the trees in an SSSI he was also at a meeting on the bridge overlooking the embankment with local Councillors, residents and three people from the Enviroment Agency who told him to 'get on with it'.
This whole situation has been handled very badly by the EA and I hope there will be an apology from Dave Throup in the local papers to John Price. .Its the least he deserves.

  8. I agree to a certain level that the by pass will not solve our problems with internal traffic. The reason it is needed is because we have to build some 6-10,000 homes over the next 10 to 15 years and beyond. We simply do not have the locations within the City to do so and will be expanding the City limits as we are now.Couple that with
another 1,400 homes just off Three Elms Road and and we are heading for trouble.
Nobody listens to people concerns,Cllr Harington is all mouth no action and the rest of them have no idea how to resolve the traffic issues in the City apart from telling people to use a bike.

  9. The incompetence of this council excluding this decision is shameful.

From wasting millions on this, millions in overspend on the link road and new offices. The appalling shambles of the fownhope road repairs.the decision not to go ahead with the turning off Belmont island lights.no measures taken to ease the flow of traffic through the city.

What we did get is a closed bridge that has had a detrimental effect on trade, flower tubs and a bus lane to nowhere.
